Story
Cookie (A136455) is a 2-year-old GSD who weighed nearly 60 lbs at intake!11/02/24 This spunky duo are Cookie and Shelby! These girls were brought to the shelter because their previous owner was moving into housing that did not allow pets. These girls were described as being friendly and outgoing. It is unclear if they are housebroken or kennel trained. They may be trying very hard to become housebroken, as they will sometimes bark at the door to go out. They can sometimes play rough and jump on people, but they were said to generally mind well. They would most likely benefit well from a basic obedience class with a certified trainer! They were said to do well with babies and children. They will bark at strangers and other dogs until they realize they are not a threat. If you are interested in meeting Shelby or Cookie, please give us a call!November 5, 2024, 9:57 pm

Story
1.5 yr old Male German Shepherd, He is a super sweet boy who has a medical, genetic brain disorder, Mostly is affecting his memory. It's like every day is the first day in meeting him. It has taken him months before I could pet him. I am gaining trust with him, but that has taken a lot of time and understanding. This condition has made it difficult to get him to relax around new people. He has never shown aggression, he cowers or tries to hide. He has been in rescue a very long time and he is just now ok with me. He will need an owner who understands he needs time, a lot of time to become comfortable. His social behavior is not about you being a good person. He needs someone who is not going to be offended by his lack of trust with humans. Sad that, that needed to be said, but so many people have expectations on how a dog should behave around them because "every dog loves them" He needs a person who will not take it personal when he doesn't immediately seek out love and attention. He will need a number of visit here in Fairbanks before he can go on an overnight. With that said people living outside the Fairbanks area is not possible. Here is a link to see a video of him https://fb.watch/a_Kh5Kl5Sf/ Ideal home is a quiet one, not filled with a lot of people coming and going. He needs someone who does not have high expectations nor does he need someone who has a timeline scheduled for him to overcome his behavior. He needs someone that has the mindset of Here we are and you are welcome to take as much time as you need to trust me. Are you that person? Story
Zion is a Shiloh Shepherd, he is 6 yrs old, came in to the rescue because his owner had passed away. Zion is under-socialized with people, other dogs and new environments. We are currently working on his lack of confidence as he is a pretty fearful boy. He doesn't enjoy car rides, as he will hunker down and hide while in the truck. He has had a lot of changes and we are slowly working on his fear issues. Due to his fears he will not be adopted to a home with children or a home who plans to have children, preferably be the only dog, a very low key home environment without a lot of people coming and going. Potential must have experience with Shepherds and must have a 6 foot (or higher) fence.
