Story
Animal Profile: Henry is an estimated 2-year-old 75 lb neutered male Beauceron who is social and friendly with people and dogs. He was a stray intake to the Chatsworth shelter in Los Angeles in 2023 as an adolescent dog, adopted and then found a couple of weeks back tied outside a house with his crate and a bag of food, abandoned. A good samaritan took him in and was told by the shelter that as an adoption "return" he would be euthanized after his stray hold due to overcrowding. We have stepped in to help. The good samaritan who has been caring for Henry for the last couple weeks reports that he is very social and friendly (hasn't met a stranger) has good manners and gets along with all the dogs in the house. We will share more about him as we get to know him in foster care.  Note, Henry was listed as a Doberman Lab mix, but based on his double rear dewclaws we believe he is a Beauceron or Beauceron mix.  Foster Update: Henry has been in temp foster care since June 30 and has shown himself to be easy to handle, docile and affectionate with people and dogs. He seems to have been an outdoor dog but has quickly picked up house training and crate training. Henry absolutely loves to run and play with other dogs, chase and be chased. He shows interest in toys when other dogs are playing with them (not to try to take them away) but doesn't play much with toys on his own, yet. This boy is truly a gentle-giant. He is extremely even tempered and good natured and responds well to training. He is alert but not fearful or reactive to new people. All of his "challenges" are based in lack of training, not temperament, and he is learning quickly. He seems to still experiencing a lot of firsts (like car rides, hikes, going to the office) and so continued leadership from a human will be important for him. In his most recent foster home with young kids he has done beautifully with them, and has made fast friends with the 5, 2.5 and 1.5 year old toddlers in the home. He has no resource guarding issues and when he gets confused which toys are his and which are the kiddos you can easily correct and remove. This boy is a doll.   Adopter Profile: Most important for Henry (more than people in the home, yard vs apartment, schedule) will be having a human who is comfortable providing foundational training and consistent leadership. We will continue to work on this in foster care, but with his size it will be important for him to learn good manners. Henry could do well with an active experienced owner in an apartment, or in a home, and would be OK in a pack with other playful dogs, or as an only dog with opportunities for play dates.  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a 501c3 organization. He was taken in by a good samaritan and transferred to Dog Gone Seattle via Wiggle Butts, arriving to foster care on June 30, 2024. He will be available for adoption in the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care.October 16, 2024, 5:17 pm

Story
Animal Profile: Galileo is an estimated 1-year-old 50-lb "Doberman" mix but with those rear dewclaws we think more likely Beauceron mix. He was a stray intake and assessed at the Stanislaus shelter to be playful and goofy with people and dogs. He has a neat little corncob trick that is pretty adorable. He was scheduled for euthanasia on Sat 9/21 due to overcrowding but we pulled him at the 11th hour and he'll be arriving to Seattle area foster care. We'll share more as we get to know him.  Foster Update: Galileo is SO friendly! He immediately took to my 13 year old son and our 6.5 year old lab. He is very energetic, but also content cuddling with his head on your lap or nuzzled into your leg once he's worn himself out. He loves to meet new people, enjoys meeting new dogs, and doesn’t appear to have any prey drive on our walks. Galileo still has a lot of puppy in him and can be a bit jumpy so older, dog savvy kids will probably be best. He is doing well in his crate, sleeps through the night, and has mastered potty training in the short time he has been here. He is such a smart guy; he’s learned sit and stay and is working on new commands each day. Galileo would love an active family who will continue to work with him on house and leash manners.    Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, current core vaccinations per AVMA standards, negative heartworm test and microchip with lifetime registration. Adoption fees benefit all the animals in our rescue, and may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a 501c3 non-profit organization. Apply online at www.DogGoneSeattle.org Animal History: This dog was rescued from the the high kill Stanilaus Modesto animal shelter and transported via START, arriving to Seattle area foster care 9/20/24. This dog will be available for adoption in the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care.October 16, 2024, 5:17 pm
