In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.12/14/24 Still available! 11/23/24Cobalt - have you ever seen a more handsome boy? I can't think of one! This big boy was a sad sight when he was found in a ditch, starved almost to death. Thankfully he was found before it was too late. After many weeks of slow re-feeding, he finally started to put on some weight and is now a healthy, happy boy! This guy has one thing on his mind - LOVE! He absolutely adores his (foster) people, because they show him love and kindness, and that's all it takes for him to love you. Cobalt is currently fostered in a home with many other dogs of all sizes and genders, and he does well with all of them. He would also do well as an only dog if that were the case - he would be happy with or without another dog in the home. He is much more focused on the humans. He gets along with the other dogs but doesn't really bond with them or play with them. His one and only focus is to soak up as much love as he can each day. He must have really been deprived of affection before he was rescued, and he's trying to make up for lost time now. Cobalt is a big guy at about 75 lbs. We believe he is about 4 years old. He is not destructive and doesn't require a ton of exercise. A few leash walks each day would be fine with him. Of course, if his person wants to play, he's game for that, too, if it makes you happy! He is house trained and doesn't necessarily require a crate but will use one if needed. He is crated some of the time in his foster home (when foster mom and dad are at work) and he is perfectly content with that. He is a very good boy and really deserves to have a forever family that can give him a lot of individual attention. Cobalt was already neutered and microchipped when he came into rescue, but his previous owner never registered the chip, so it could not be traced. Sadly, he tested positive for heartworms and is undergoing treatment now. Once his treatment is completed (about 6 weeks) he will be ready to meet his new family! Cobalt is wonderful with kids and would be a protective, doting big brother. Don't miss out on all the love this big guy has to offer you! Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them at one of the following times/locations. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.12/14/24 Louise is now safe! She was previously living on the streets in a very unsafe area. Thankfully a foster stepped up for her and she is safe and available for adoption. Her story- Louise showed up as a dumped dog in a very bad part of town, where there are many known dog fighters who are just waiting to get dogs like her to train their fighting dogs. Louise had a mama and brother at the time she showed up, but they have both disappeared in the last few months. Louise was very fearful at first but has learned to trust a good samaritan who did her best to provide food and shelter for her, and kept her safe. Since learning to trust her, Louise has decided that all people are good. This is both good and bad. It is good in that she feels secure and safe and that makes her easier to find a home for, because she will carry those feelings with her. It is bad in that she can't differentiate between the safe people and the ones who mean her harm. And there are those in her immediate neighborhood. Thankfully a foster stepped up and we were able to get her to safety before anything bad happened. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. Louise adores children and is great with other dogs. She is very submissive.  Louise is a young lady, about a year old, and weighs 60lbs.  In the northeast.  To apply, please fill out the adoption app: https://form.jotform.com/212690945239059 Message or email apps.aasr@gmail.com with any questions.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350.
