HOW TO ADOPT: This dog is currently spending time in a foster home. To schedule a time to meet this dog, please contact fosterinquiry@arl-iowa.org.---- Always happy to see his people and will greet you with lots of tail wags - Has been a perfect gentleman in his foster home and enjoys following a similar routine each day - Likes to wake his foster mom up with face kisses - Goofy guy who loves playing with balls and other toys like plush toys, KONGs and tug toys - Enjoys walks and car rides, but is also happy when it's time to go home and chill together - Already knows sit, paw, kennel, down, inside, outside and let's go - he's a smart boy, and he loves treats!- Has done well in a crate and on walks and has been very gentle with children who have wanted to pet him during his walks; he'd love to meet any kids in your home before adoption to make sure everyone is a great match - Can be awkward in his interactions with other dogs (dog intro required) - Has been known to chase cats outdoors; has not lived with cats indoors - Overall a wonderful dog looking for a predictable home with people who will give him time to decompress and settle in; he'll be a great friend for a lucky person or family! All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Primary Color: Black Weight: 81.4 Age: 4yrs 6mths 2wks

Story
- Likes being with his people and can be cuddly once he is comfortable; enjoys looking out windows and being outdoors with his humans- Recently went on a Dog's Day Out field trip and had a great time with his human companions: "He is very friendly and loving. He is high energy and loves being outside, so someone that likes going on runs, hikes, and stuff like that would be perfect for him. He's very good on a leash, but when he gets excited about something or wants to check something out, he'll pull a little. If you walk, run, or go past another dog or person, he will stay next to you. He loves having the window down in the car, but would rather be in the front seat with you than the back seat. He's the best boy you'll ever meet!" - Smart and extremely treat-motivated; already knows sit, down and shake and takes treats very nicely - Prefers to explore and do his own thing here in the shelter and will likely open up more in a home environment once he has had time to decompress - Can be a little sensitive around his neck and ears and may not be a dog who likes hugs; may be most comfortable with a harness for walks - Needs a teens-and-up home right now- Can be awkward in his interactions with other dogs and may prefer to be the only dog in his home (dog intro required) All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs.
