Story
Marlo (A137246) is a 1-year-3-month-old shepherd mix who weighed just over 50 lbs at intake!02/03/25 Update from foster: Marlo aka Miss Marls Barkley is doing FABULOUS in foster! She was said to be super sweet and has done great with the other animals in her foster home (including dogs of all sizes and cats)! She is very curious and has some escape artist tendencies. She has objected strongly to being kenneled and has busted out. She has also been eying up the fence. Her foster did feel that enrolling in her a basic obedience class would do her wonders for her training! They also felt she would love being a skijor buddy or somebody's running partner to help get some of her energy out. Even though she can be like an energy bunny at times, she also has a sweet and cuddly side and enjoys giving kisses! A funny quirk they also found was that she loves to sleep under the bed! If you are interested in meeting this goofball and feel that you live an active lifestyle that can meet her needs, please let us know! 01/18/25 This sweet girl is Marlo! Marlo was brought to the shelter because her previous owners had too many dogs and were struggling to keep her contained. When Marlo gets loose outside, she likes to run! She has also been known to get into the neighbors' trash when she is loose. She is looking for a home that will keep her contained either in a fence yard or on a leash or tie out when she goes outside. Marlo was said to love playing outside; she just needs someone to help her be on her best behavior when she does. Marlo was said to be a shy but friendly girl who will bark at strangers but gets along with kids and other dogs. She does not have history with other types of animals. Please make sure all introductions are done in a safe and controlled manner. She was said to ride well in the car and has been known to be rough and gentle when playing, depending on the situation. She does need some help getting over naughty habits like jumping on counters, but she was said to be housebroken and will go to the door when she has to go. Miss Marlo was described as being a very sweet and loving dog who just needs some time to warm up to strangers. Story
Banjo (A137670) is an almost 2-year-old GSD mix who weighed just over 60 lbs at intake!03/01/25 This handsome guy is Banjo! He arrived at the shelter because his previous owners were moving to a farm and did not think he would be suitable for farm life. Banjo has a high prey drive. He has never intentionally hurt another animal, but he thinks it is the best game in the world when they run form him! He LOVES to chase cats, birds, ducks, anything little and flighty. Banjo was described as being a great family dog. He does well with babies and children, as well as other dogs. He can be shy around new people, but he warms up quickly. He was described as being affectionate, shy, friendly and gentle. He is said to be kennel trained and housebroken and will fuss by the door when he needs to go. He has been known to dig and be vocal, but in general he minds well and rides well in the car. Banjo has jumped fences in the past, so make sure he is secure on a tie out if left outside unsupervised. If you are interested in meeting Mister Banjo, please give us a call!March 1, 2025, 7:50 pm

Story
Cleo (A123148) is a 4-year-old German Shepherd x Husky mix who weighed 64 pounds on intake! 03/07/25 Miss Cleo is back at the shelter due to her most recent owners moving to housing that didn't allow her. Cleo's habits, likes and dislikes have been well-detailed below in her previous write-ups, but one major thing has come to light in her most recent home: Cleo loves kids! She was said to play very well with the neighbor kids when they came over to the house. Due to Cleo's history in her prior home, we still recommend supervised play dates with kids. And make sure any kids know to respect her boundaries when she communicates that she needs a break by either retreating to her kennel or removing herself from the situation. If you are interested in this sweet girl, please give us a call!03/20/24 Cleo was surrendered to the shelter with her friend Smoke because their owner could no longer care for them. Cleo was described as a cuddle bug who loves attention. Cleo was said to do well with babies and children but does need them to respect her space. Cleo did nip at the baby in her past home when they climbed in her crate with her. She may do best in a home without small kids; if you do have small children please keep in mind that they should be supervised around our furry family members to avoid any accidents. Cleo was also said to be housebroken, kennel trained, rides well in a car, and knows a variety of commands! She is one smart cookie! Cleo was also said to do well with other dogs and cats once appropriate introductions have been made. Cleo was said to have a few naughty tendencies, like getting into the trash, digging, and vocalizing. Cleo is a sweet girl, hoping to find her new home soon! If you are interested in meeting her, please let us know! 03/26/21 Cleo was surrendered to the shelter due to the previous owner no longer able to care for her. Cleo's previous owner shared that Cleo is potty trained (gets antsy and starts pacing when she needs to go) and is used to being in a crate or outside when her family was not at home. Cleo is generally outgoing and friendly, although she may be a bit defensive when meeting strangers, and will back up if unsure about someone new. Cleo knows basic commands and did great with the previous owner's 8 month old, and loved to play with the 3 and 4 year old kids in the house. Cleo loves to play with dogs and has lived with cats before- she can be a bit nervous with kitties, since she got smacked once! Cleo is strong minded and active and WILL try to bolt through open doors if you have failed to firmly attach her leash to her collar first. Cleo has chewed up the occasional baby toy and likes to dig holes in the yard, which she lays in. While her owner never caught her at it, Cleo MAY know how to jump or climb fences, so supervision when outside will be necessary. Cleo was very outgoing and vocal during her initial exam; she may lack basic manners when she is excited and would probably benefit enormously from basic obedience classes and a patient and consistent family that can take the time to complete her training. German shepherds and huskies are both very active and intelligent breeds, please research prior to considering adding Cleo to your family! Cleo will prefer an active home that can keep her busy. If Cleo sounds like the dog for you, please give the shelter a call to make an appointment to meet this very outgoing and bouncy shepherd mix.March 7, 2025, 3:11 pm
