Story
Name: Astro (male, black with white paws) and Ruby (female, wire haired, white face) Breed: Beagle poodle mixà Beaglepoo! Age: Around 9 weeks! Weight: about 7 lbs each So far they have had Dewormer, 5 way vaccine, and are too young for rabies just yet! Adoption fee will include neuter/spay! They are currently doing really well on pee pad training and will go outside when taken. It has been a little too cold for them to get the concept. They start shivering pretty soon after being out in the frigid cold but went out today in the 40s and played nicely. They also usually pee on the pee pad first thing in the morning! We are working on teaching them to walk with a leash and the goal is to get them outside for potty training, the cold weather has just caused some interruptions They currently sleep in their play kennel or metal kennel together at night in our bedroom. They haven’t had exposure to any other cats or dogs but have done really well with kids! We have two small children and they play nicely and really enjoy watching the kids. They are puppies so they jump and mouth people but I have not seen any aggressive behavior and they are curious pups! They currently live in a home with a large fenced in yard. I would suggest keeping them leashed or in a fenced in yard. When they run around they get the zoomies and love to explore! They like to be with their people. They look for their people as soon as they wake up and when they walk about the house. They love to play with squeaky toys and chew ropes. They love to play together. They like playing outside. When they get sleepy they enjoy being held and have done well with getting baths! Astro will even paw at the door to go outside and play. They have a happy disposition and are really sweet! Dislikes include eating food out of a bowl that moves, being cold, being separated (but would probably be okay to go to separate homes….they just don’t like if one is out of the crate and one isn’t). Kenosha, WI Adoption fee $650 for one or $1050 for both Sarah, antho12se@gmail.com

Story
About Me: Name:  Petunia Breed (or best guess):  Mixed Breed Approximate Age: 7 months Gender:  Female Approximate Weight: 15 lb Adoption Fee: $495  Requirements: Loving family Why In Rescue: Owner Surrender   Profile:  Petunia was adopted but returned mostly for being a puppy.  She loves to run and play with other dogs (she is currently being fostered with a family that adopted her littermate).  She did well with housetraining in her home, but would chew on things, and would jump up and nip on the young children.  She will likely do best in a home with another playful dog, or a family that is willing to give her plenty of exercise and playtime.  She will also need a family willing to work on training puppy behaviors like proper things to chew and play with.  She is a cute fun girl and would love a forever family. Original Profile:   We do not know the specific mix of these pups, they are likely a mix of multiple breeds, a true Heinz 57.  We are expecting them to be in the 20-30 lb range when full grown but that is a guess.  We have had big puppies stay small, and tiny puppies grow large.  These girls are part of a litter from Texas who are hoping to find homes in WI.  They are playful, friendly, happy pups (a little shy when in a new situation or new people) who just need a home to get them off to a good start and teach them all the things puppies need to learn to be good canine citizens.  They should be good with other dogs and children.  If interested please fill out the application at www.bichonrescues.com We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $495 for most adults and up to $650 for puppies which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $100 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS January 25, 2025, 2:54 pm

Story
About Me: Name: Winter Glow Breed (or best guess): Beagle Approximate Age: 4 yr Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 20 lb Adoption Fee: $495 Requirements: Fenced Yard Why In Rescue: Puppy Mill Survivor Profile:   Glow came from a commercial breeder/puppy farmer who was no longer going to use her for breeding.  She is a social girl and has been good with other dogs.  She hasn't lived in a house, so will need work with housetraining.  She is a beagle, and will follow her nose and is interested in small critters.  If interested in Glow, and you are willing to give there the time she needs to become comfortable living in a home, please fill out our preadoption application at www.bichonrescues.com Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized (often very scared/shy/skittish) and probably never lived in a house.  They will need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like a television are.  They need a patient adopter who will give them the time they need to adjust and to learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others can take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house and being in the same room as a person.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after their life on the puppy farm.  A fence or at least a secure fenced in potty area is highly recommended for the dog's safety, and may be required for some dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home, and also may be required in some cases.  We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. He loves to walk he's kennel trained he's happy all the time his tail never stops wagging it just goes to show you what a special boy he is having been at the Shelter for so long and he still has a beautiful disposition , we would love to get this guy his family. If you would like to consider making him part of your family, please follow the link below to our adoption application. https://forms.gle/APKvbgFJcaRvgKgk9

Story
Siren is a calm, gentle, quiet girl who joined us from rural Kentucky. It appeared she had had very little human interaction when joining BAARK last year, but with time and patience, she has come out of her shell and has become a little more confident….but does have a ways to go. Siren is definitely a Mix Breed, possibly a Beagle-Heeler, with other breeds sprinkled in! She’s an estimated 32 lbs. born in January of 2021. This sweet girl enjoys the company of other dogs in her foster home, but prefers calm dogs. She can become startled by loud noises and quick movement but as her confident continues to grow, such things will likely not bother her. Siren is most likely to thrive in a quieter household consisting of adults. But older children, respectful of animals, would be good for Siren as well. She’d really enjoy the companionship of a calm, possibly older dog too. A secure fenced yard is also a plus. Siren is up to date on her vaccinations, heartworm negative and on year-round heartworm prevention, spayed and microchipped. She is believed to be housebroken as well. If you are interested in adding Siren to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. Note that BAARK is located in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago, and adopts local to our area.

Story
Betsy is the cutest little Beagle you will ever meet! She’s a 13” Beagle, weighing just 16 lbs. She is estimated to be 8 – 9 years old but definitely acts like a much younger girl!! Everyone who meets Betsy absolutely loves her. She is a member of two doggy daycare groups and is the social butterfly in both. This petite girl is sugary-sweet but on the other hand, she can be a powerhouse, holding her own against any dog who wants to challenge her. Betsy enjoys the company of all dogs but especially those her own size…and her favorite friends are other hounds!! She can be bossy toward larger dogs who she views as threatening to her. Betsy has it all…she’s cute, very personable, sociable, and spunky. And everyone loves her!! She barks as needed but is not a constant barker, as Beagles are sometimes perceived to be. Generally speaking Betsy is in good health and you’d never know she has heart issues. Prior to joining BAARK, Betsy was diagnosed with grade IV systolic left-sided heart murmur, possibly mitral valve disease. Betsy takes Vetmedin daily and you’d never know she has anything concerning going on with her heart! She shows no symptoms at all (lethargy, shortness of breath, coughing). Rather she’s playful and energetic, but also enjoys lounging and watching activities around her. An ideal family for Betsy is one with Beagle experience and also experience in dealing with a dog with cardiac concerns. Such issues are manageable and the Vetmedin is invaluable in keeping Betsy active and symptom-free. The new family must be able to continue to provide Vetmedin to Betsy daily. Cost/day is just under $2.00 but completely worth it!! Betsy is up to date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and on year-round heartworm prevention, spayed and microchipped. If you are interested in adding this precious girl to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. Please note that BAARK is located in Barrington IL, and adopts only local to our area. Betsy has plenty of living yet to do and we want her to enjoy every moment with a family of her own!
