Story
Name: Astro (male, black with white paws) and Ruby (female, wire haired, white face) Breed: Beagle poodle mixà Beaglepoo! Age: Around 9 weeks! Weight: about 7 lbs each So far they have had Dewormer, 5 way vaccine, and are too young for rabies just yet! Adoption fee will include neuter/spay! They are currently doing really well on pee pad training and will go outside when taken. It has been a little too cold for them to get the concept. They start shivering pretty soon after being out in the frigid cold but went out today in the 40s and played nicely. They also usually pee on the pee pad first thing in the morning! We are working on teaching them to walk with a leash and the goal is to get them outside for potty training, the cold weather has just caused some interruptions They currently sleep in their play kennel or metal kennel together at night in our bedroom. They haven’t had exposure to any other cats or dogs but have done really well with kids! We have two small children and they play nicely and really enjoy watching the kids. They are puppies so they jump and mouth people but I have not seen any aggressive behavior and they are curious pups! They currently live in a home with a large fenced in yard. I would suggest keeping them leashed or in a fenced in yard. When they run around they get the zoomies and love to explore! They like to be with their people. They look for their people as soon as they wake up and when they walk about the house. They love to play with squeaky toys and chew ropes. They love to play together. They like playing outside. When they get sleepy they enjoy being held and have done well with getting baths! Astro will even paw at the door to go outside and play. They have a happy disposition and are really sweet! Dislikes include eating food out of a bowl that moves, being cold, being separated (but would probably be okay to go to separate homes….they just don’t like if one is out of the crate and one isn’t). Kenosha, WI Adoption fee $650 for one or $1050 for both Sarah, antho12se@gmail.com

Story
About Me: Name:  Petunia Breed (or best guess):  Mixed Breed Approximate Age: 7 months Gender:  Female Approximate Weight: 15 lb Adoption Fee: $495  Requirements: Loving family Why In Rescue: Owner Surrender   Profile:  Petunia was adopted but returned mostly for being a puppy.  She loves to run and play with other dogs (she is currently being fostered with a family that adopted her littermate).  She did well with housetraining in her home, but would chew on things, and would jump up and nip on the young children.  She will likely do best in a home with another playful dog, or a family that is willing to give her plenty of exercise and playtime.  She will also need a family willing to work on training puppy behaviors like proper things to chew and play with.  She is a cute fun girl and would love a forever family. Original Profile:   We do not know the specific mix of these pups, they are likely a mix of multiple breeds, a true Heinz 57.  We are expecting them to be in the 20-30 lb range when full grown but that is a guess.  We have had big puppies stay small, and tiny puppies grow large.  These girls are part of a litter from Texas who are hoping to find homes in WI.  They are playful, friendly, happy pups (a little shy when in a new situation or new people) who just need a home to get them off to a good start and teach them all the things puppies need to learn to be good canine citizens.  They should be good with other dogs and children.  If interested please fill out the application at www.bichonrescues.com We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $495 for most adults and up to $650 for puppies which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $100 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS January 25, 2025, 2:54 pm

Story
About Me: Name: Winter Glow Breed (or best guess): Beagle Approximate Age: 4 yr Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 20 lb Adoption Fee: $495 Requirements: Fenced Yard Why In Rescue: Puppy Mill Survivor Profile:   Glow came from a commercial breeder/puppy farmer who was no longer going to use her for breeding.  She is a social girl and has been good with other dogs.  She hasn't lived in a house, so will need work with housetraining.  She is a beagle, and will follow her nose and is interested in small critters.  If interested in Glow, and you are willing to give there the time she needs to become comfortable living in a home, please fill out our preadoption application at www.bichonrescues.com Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized (often very scared/shy/skittish) and probably never lived in a house.  They will need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like a television are.  They need a patient adopter who will give them the time they need to adjust and to learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others can take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house and being in the same room as a person.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after their life on the puppy farm.  A fence or at least a secure fenced in potty area is highly recommended for the dog's safety, and may be required for some dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home, and also may be required in some cases.  We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. Story
Meet Rusty! Age: Senior Weight: 40 lbs Breed: Beagle mix Good with: dogs and kids (also goats and chickens!) House trained: Yes Rusty is a happy, friendly pup who is looking for a forever home where he can be loved and where there’s yummy smells (typical Beagle 🙂 ). Rusty loves meeting new people and is dog and kid friendly, this silly boy is up for anything! He enjoys tagging along on car rides, spending lots of time napping in a cozy spot and following his nose! He is a sweet, tolerant pup who is just happy to be near his people Rusty enjoys going on walks, but would also benefit from a yard if you have one. Any opportunity to go on a sniffari is time well spent, according to Rusty. As a senior dog, Rusty isn’t immune to some age related concerns. He previously had a mass removed from his abdomen before he was an ADL dog and while it doesn’t cause him discomfort, it’s something to monitor in the future. This does not slow him down one bit and he’s still happy to be your travel buddy! Rusty is a well mannered pup who is incredibly food motivated. He’s happy to show off some commands and would appreciate any treats that come his way. He’s the perfect mix of eager side kick and happy lounger. He is a laid back pup who enjoys the simple things in life and is hoping to be a cherished family member (and taste tester), does this sound like a good fit for you?
