Update: Meet Malia, a beautiful Beagle mix who has grown up at Helping Paws after arriving as a tiny puppy just a few weeks old. Having spent her whole life at the shelter, Malia has formed a special bond with a staff member, showing just how loyal and loving she can be once she trusts you. She’s the kind of dog who becomes your shadow, always by your side, ready to be your most devoted companion.Malia is incredibly food- and treat-motivated, which makes training a fun and rewarding experience. She’s a quick learner who enjoys mental challenges like puzzle toys and is always eager to pick up a new skill. She walks beautifully on a leash (most of the time) and absolutely loves her daily walks, but like many dogs who have grown up in a shelter, she’ll need a little help with potty training once she’s in a home environment.Though Malia can be a bit wary of strangers at first, her cautiousness comes from her desire to protect her people. That said, she wouldn’t hurt a fly she just needs a moment to assess new situations and feel safe.
