Story
I got him from someone who had an accidental litter of puppies at 8 weeks old. He is 8 months old. He loves any sort of enrichment activity and knows a few commands. He tends to get over excited in public areas and will bark and jump. He is a great dog I just don’t have the resources to care for all of his needs.

Good with kids, Not good with cats, House-trained,
Story
Copper was given to a family when he was a tiny puppy, as the owner had to go off to college, with the promise that one day she would return to him. When she finished, however, she did not come to collect Copper, and the family could no longer take care of him, so they asked me to look after him. As this was my first dog, the challenges were there, but Copper was well behaved enough to make the transition easier. Him being house trained was the biggest relief. Copper does not like cats, but lived with 5 other dog before me. He can be a little excited when meeting a new dog, so I haven't been sure how to best approach new animals around him. He's a loyal dog, and he'll follow around any friend and look for someone to play with. When he wants to go outside, he'll let you know. I wish I could continue to care for Copper, but financially, it isn't feasible for me right now to have a pet. That, and I am moving temporarily to Peru for several months to live with my fiancé and her parents.

Story
PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - NIALL BREED - Beagle/Dachshund mix SIZE - About 20 pounds AGE - 5+ years GENDER - Male MEDICAL CONCERNS - None known BEHAVIOR CONCERNS - None known SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS - Niall is an incredibly happy fellow seeking a home with a wonderful adopter! Not only is he adorable, but he is super sweet. Niall and his buddy, Grant, came to us recently from a central NC shelter where they had been surrendered by their owner with two other beagle/doxie mixes. We have no information on why the little pack was surrendered, but all appear to be well loved and happy. This little guy is energetic and playful but also down for hugs and cuddling. He could like morph into just about anything his new family would desire from him. Niall appears to be in good health. He is receiving his vaccines and has tested negative for heart worms. He will be neutered and microchipped on December 9, so until after that date, he can only be adopted locally. Beagles are notorious hunters, so a home with a secure yard is in Niall's best interest. His energy would not be well suited to small children or small animals, but he would fit in well with most any other family type. Niall would make a wonderful walking or running buddy, and a great companion! Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Adopt a Pet inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of Niall and our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting with you and your family to meet Niall at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. After meeting him and determining that he matches your preferences for a pet, we will accept your application. A home visit by one of our trained volunteers is required for all adoptions, and we will speak with your vet to ensure that you are a responsible pet owner. More information on our website at www.carerva.com.
