TIME SENSITIVE! SPECIAL NEEDS! Trisha needs a home SOON! Remember Trisha? She came to us from a shelter a couple months ago. She was hit by a car about 6 months before being taken to the shelter but her owner didn't take her to the vet. We quickly learned that she is incontinent because the end of her spinal cord is severed. Trisha is happy, and playful and loves attention. She is not good with cats or any dog who seems dominant at all and may be most successful as an only pet. She loves people and would most likely be just fine with kids! Trisha would be happy and manageable in a home with a fenced yard for her to spend the day in. She could wear a diaper to come inside for family time and sleep in a crate at night. She will be more prone to urinary tract infections and will need regular medical care. We love Trisha and hope we can find someone else who will adore her and be able to manage her needs. Trisha has been spayed and vaccinated and we are happy to waive her adoption fee. Trisha is about 4 years old and weighs about 45 pounds. Apply NOW at www.augustadogadoptions.org. Trisha is located near Staunton,Va.

Story
Suzzy came to us when her owner passed away. Suzzy was a very loved pet and was well taken care of. Suzzy is currently about 42 pounds and her foster mom is working hard at getting her to lose a few pounds and get in better shape. Suzzy now loves to walk and of course smell things. She loves ALL people and adores getting pet and belly rubs. Her owner was unable to take her out for several months before he passed, but she is doing amazing with a refresher course in house training. She has mastered the doggie door in her foster home. Suzzy wants to be where her person is. If you are outside, she wants to be outside - if you are inside, she wants to be inside. She likes to have her person in sight. She will get a little vocal if you aren't, but she is nondestructive. Her foster leaves her alone in the whole house when she leaves and she doesn't bother things in the house. Suzzy is very food motivated and will do anything for a morsel of food. She loves all people - even children. She is very gentle with people of all ages. She seems to be fine with cats in the neighborhood. She will walk up to them but not try to chase or bother them in anyway. She would be okay with another dog as long as it wasn't a super hyper dog that would be in her face to play all the time. The puppies in her foster home are not her idea of fun. She is much more of a laid back girl. Sometimes she sleeps in the bed with her foster mom - sometimes she lays on the dog bed in the bedroom. We are determined to find Suzzy the perfect home with people that will love her like her dad did.

Story
Meet Annabelle, the cutest little beagle ever! Annabelle is an 8 year old, purebred beagle who came to us for help finding a better family match. Annabelle is sweet and loving but she is a dog who does not do well with children who are too young to respect her boundaries. She loves her people deeply and does not want to share her family or home with other dogs. Annabelle is GOOD WITH CATS, and is a fairly slow, low energy gal. She would be perfect for a quiet, mature home that is looking for an only dog to spoil! (Annabelle is sensitive to chicken proteins so a bit of diet management will be needed.) Augusta Dog Adoptions is a 501c3, foster-based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. Bingo is a sweet little thing! She's SO eager to please and will do just about anything for a T.R.E.A.T. Favorite things to do? Romp around, give kisses & get belly scritches! She's not super interested in toys, but maybe that will change outside of a shelter environment. She knows at least, "sit" on command and would likely reacclimate to proper "pottie" manners in no time. Manageable on a leash and super affectionate; Bingo is a golden girl who wants to be on your lap at all times...and then go explore the great outdoors! Surrendered because she.no.like.cats....NO CATS! She seems curious & friendly with other pups, however; and would likely be good with kids! You got a lap? Check? You got treats? Check. You need BINGO! updated 1/14/25

Story
I’m Zoey, a sweet and snuggly 10-month-old Basset mix who is looking for my forever family. I came to BROOD after my previous family adopted me from an animal shelter and soon realized I had too much energy for them. I am full of curiosity and love learning new things. I am friendly and energetic and quite agile for a small hound--I weigh only 38 pounds. I would do well in a home with someone that likes to walk and who will play with me. I am crate trained and keep my kennel dry overnight, too.It doesn’t take me long to bond with my people—I love being close to my family, and I thrive on attention. That’s why I need to be the only dog in the home--I want all the cuddles and affection for myself! I also don’t get along with cats and will happily chase them around, so a cat-free home is best for me. I love playing with toys and can often entertain myself with play. While I may still be discovering my personality, one thing is for sure: I’m great with kids and love spending time with them. Due to my energy level and tendency to jump up, I would be best in a home with older children. Whether we are playing or cuddling, I am always ready for fun.BROOD is short of foster homes right now and I am still in boarding at BROOD’s veterinarian. I would love a foster home or how about a foster-to-adopt home? Contact BROOD at foster@brood-va.org if you want to foster me!If you’re ready to add some extra love and companionship to your life, I would love to meet you! Contact BROOD today to start our journey together. My adoption fee is $100.00.**Only BROOD-approved adopters can meet a dog (no exceptions). Our adoption application is on the BROOD website at https://brood-va.org/adoptionapp/. We adopt to residents of Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, DC, Delaware, and southern Pennsylvania. Do not apply to adopt from BROOD if you live in another state. We require a virtual home visit and a veterinary reference. The age of BROOD dogs is an estimate, as very few come with exact age records. 12/23/2024

Story
My name Indy for short. I have an adventurous streak and love exploring the world! I’m a 5-year-old Basset mix found as a stray. When I first came to BROOD, I had a heartworm infection, but after treatment, I’m now healthy, happy, and ready for an active life! Now that I’m feeling great, I absolutely love going on walks! I do get a bit excited and tend to pull, but I’m working on my leash manners every day. I’m working on my house training so I’ll need a patient family to help me fully master this skill.True to my hound roots, I’m quite vocal and enjoy sharing my thoughts—whether it’s about my day, spotting a deer, or letting you know it’s mealtime. A home with a fenced yard would be ideal for me, as I love roaming, sniffing, and soaking up the outdoors. I would not do well in an apartment or condo. I’m a people-lover and make friends with everyone I meet, including kids who stop for a quick pet on my walks. I get along with other dogs but would be ok by myself. I enjoy playing with toys, especially a Kong stuffed with snacks, and I’m always up for learning new tricks if there are treats involved. I already know commands like “sit,” “down,” and “kennel.”If you’re looking for a loyal, adventurous, and sweet companion, I’m your guy! Contact BROOD today to start our adventures together. My adoption fee is $250.00.**Only BROOD-approved adopters can meet a dog (no exceptions). Our adoption application is on the BROOD website at https://brood-va.org/adoptionapp/. Story
Hi there, I’m Warren! I’m a 5 to 7-year-old Basset mix with a laid-back personality. My ears might not be as long as some, but they’re perfect for me!Let’s get the important stuff out of the way—I have a few medical conditions that require daily medications for life. The good news is that I’m doing much better since I was rescued. BROOD will even cover the cost of these medications and supplements to help me stay healthy.I’m fully house-trained, and can even use a doggie door. I love hanging out in the yard while my foster mom works. I do not like being crated and I prefer a home with fewer steps to climb.I’m a social guy who loves meeting new people and other dogs. Sometimes, I’m so excited about my new friends that I try to follow them home! I’d do well with a canine sibling or as an only dog—I’m flexible as long as I get plenty of love.Playtime is the best, especially with squeaky toys (check out my video!). Afterward, I’m more than happy to settle down in my comfy dog bed for a snooze. I’m mellow, easygoing, and would fit in beautifully with any family. I rarely bark and I’m always ready to show off my “sit” skills for a treat. If you’re looking for a sweet, low-maintenance companion who will adore you forever, I’m your guy!
