Story
TIME SENSITIVE! SPECIAL NEEDS! Trisha needs a home SOON! Remember Trisha? She came to us from a shelter a couple months ago. She was hit by a car about 6 months before being taken to the shelter but her owner didn't take her to the vet. We quickly learned that she is incontinent because the end of her spinal cord is severed. Trisha is happy, and playful and loves attention. She is not good with cats or any dog who seems dominant at all and may be most successful as an only pet. She loves people and would most likely be just fine with kids! Trisha would be happy and manageable in a home with a fenced yard for her to spend the day in. She could wear a diaper to come inside for family time and sleep in a crate at night. She will be more prone to urinary tract infections and will need regular medical care. We love Trisha and hope we can find someone else who will adore her and be able to manage her needs. Trisha has been spayed and vaccinated and we are happy to waive her adoption fee. Trisha is about 4 years old and weighs about 45 pounds. Apply NOW at www.augustadogadoptions.org. Trisha is located near Staunton,Va.

Story
Badger comes from Cass, West Virginia, he was collectively cared for by local restaurants and people, he was in risk of going to a shelter. His official family in town did not properly care for him or contain him, he needed a home. At the time, I had ample time but with job changes and new commitments, I have come to the sad admittance that I am not giving him the love and attention he craves. He is a LOVING dog, he is not food motivated, he loves to cuddle more than anything else. He is leash trained, house trained, can sit, stay, “settle down.” He is easily trainable with the right tools. He loves children, he loves cats and he is spectacular with other dogs. He plays very gentle, is very lazy and cuddly but will also run wild if given the opportunity. He needs a fenced in back yard. He would do amazing with a family who has kids. He does have a right hip that he sometimes limps on but it’s been that way since he was a puppy. Overall, very healthy, trainable and wonderful.

Story
Where are the Beagle lovers? Binkie is looking for ya! A simple dog with simple needs, Binkie is a sweet pup who is fairly neutral about, well, a lot of things! Except...FOOD! Binkie is very food motivated! That being said, he's a pretty laid back guy with medium energy levels who loves wandering & sniffing around in the woods. He DOESN'T like to be left out (serious FOMO). Though he could stand to lose a couple pounds, Binkie is more agile than you'd think! He'll jump right in your lap if you ask him to! All this pup needs is a good old fashioned dog bone, a cozy lap, plenty of treats and the occasional walk in the woods. It's the little things. Binkie is currently eligible on a Foster-to-Adopt basis as he still needs some dental work done. Call the shelter to set up a meet & greet with Binkie! Binkie has not been cat tested yet! updated 9/10/24

Story
Wren is a beautiful 4 year old, female Hound who captured our hearts the moment she stepped paw into our shelter. This shy girl is a stray who had wandered on to a property along with Fern, starving and looking for food. Wren may be shy at first, but once she warms up to you, she'll be your faithful companion. She adores the company of other dogs and would thrive in a home with a friendly pup to be her friend and show her the ropes. She's a happy dog who just needs a patient and understanding home to help her come out of her shell. We believe that with a little love and care, Wren will blossom into the perfect companion. Wren has been spayed, vaccinated, tested, given dewormer, microchipped and started on flea/tick prevention, heartworm tested (NEGATIVE) and given heartworm prevention. Story
Hi, I'm Daisy - Your Future Queen! I'm an 8-year-old, pleasantly plump Basset Hound looking for a family to spoil me with love, cuddles, and treats fit for royalty! I came to BROOD from a home where I ate a little too much human food, and now the vet says I need to lose about 15 pounds to be at my best. My foster family is helping me with my weight loss journey, and I'll need a family that's willing to keep me on track with healthy meals and exercise.I love being outside, exploring at my own pace, or just soaking up the sun. I need a home with a fenced yard (no invisible fences, please) since walks aren't really my thing. I prefer to move at my own speed! I do best in a peaceful neighborhood because loud noises really scare me. No city, apartment, or condo life for me-I'm all about the quiet life!I need to be the only dog in the house because I love having all the attention for myself. Cats? No thanks, they just don't get me. Since I get startled easily when I'm napping (and I do love my naps), I'd do best in a home with kids over 12 who know to let me rest in peace. I'm happy to sleep in my crate at night, but I might bark if I'm left in there during the day while you're out. So I will need a family that is home a lot. I will need experienced Basset owners only. My personality can be a little unpredictable, so I need a family that knows how to handle reactive dogs.I love food-pizza, burgers, chicken, you name it! I'm learning to like dog treats too, especially milk bones. But I've been known to sneak onto chairs to grab food if you're not watching! If you're looking for a lovable, quirky, and food-loving queen to rule your home, I'm the Basset for you! My adoption fee is $200.00.**Only BROOD-approved adopters can meet a dog (no exceptions). Our adoption application is on the BROOD website at https://brood-va.org/adoptionapp/. We adopt to residents of Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, DC, Delaware, and southern Pennsylvania. Do not apply to adopt from BROOD if you live in another state. We require a virtual home visit and a veterinary reference. The age of many BROOD dogs is unknown, as very few come with official records. The estimate on the dog's age is usually the initial estimate given by the receiving shelter, which may be different from that given at the time of the initial checkup. Different veterinarians may also give different ages, and those different opinions are sometimes reflected on the record. ***BROOD's adoption fees are determined based on the age of the dog. 10/19/2024

Story
I'm Zoey, a sweet and snuggly 7-month-old Basset mix who's looking for my forever family. I came to BROOD after my previous family realized just how much energy and attention us puppies need. Even though we're known for being laid-back, I'm still full of curiosity and love learning new things!Right now, I'm working hard on my house training and rarely have accidents. It doesn't take me long to bond with my people-I love being close to my family, and I thrive on attention. That's why I need to be the only dog in the home; I want all the cuddles and affection for myself! I also don't get along with cats and will happily chase them around, so a cat-free home is best for me.While I may still be discovering my personality, one thing's for sure: I'm great with kids and love spending time with them. Whether we're playing or cuddling, I'm always ready for fun!If you're ready to add some extra love and companionship to your life, I'd love to meet you! Contact BROOD today to start our journey together. My adoption fee is $250.00.**Only BROOD-approved adopters can meet a dog (no exceptions). Story
Hi there! I'm Tanner, a charming black and tan classic Basset, around 5 years old. I was found as a stray, so my exact age is a bit of a mystery. I'm a petite guy-just 30 lbs of love-perfectly described as a "pocket Basset."With my laid-back, lounge-around personality, I'm searching for a low-key family to call my own. I'm house-trained, but please don't put me in a crate and be sure to keep the goodies high up out of reach because I can be quite the counter surfer.I thrive in cozy spaces like apartments or condos, and while I'm not one for long outdoor adventures, I'll happily tag along on short walks to the mailbox. I enjoy the company of other dogs, but prefer the of the ladies. I'm all about the easy life and make a fantastic travel companion. Could I be the right fit for your family? If you're ready for some cuddles and companionship, contact BROOD today, and let's start our journey together! My adoption fee is $300.00.**Only BROOD-approved adopters can meet a dog (no exceptions). Our adoption application is on the BROOD website at https://brood-va.org/adoptionapp/.
