Story
Benny has never met a stranger. He loves almost everyone he meets, although he is a little anxious around small children. He is great with other dogs. His personality has been described as goofy. Do you see his beautiful Bette Davis eyes? Benny would make a great second dog. Benny had a fractured leg. He has had FHO surgery 3/2023 and is all healed. He puts weight on the leg but may have a limp. Katie T. has become Benny's Guardian Angel In Honor of her Grandmother. Benny comes to us from a crowded rural southwestern Virginia shelter.  Breed: beagle/hound Gender: Male DOB: approximately 5/2022 Size potential: 35 pounds PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA. Story
❗Current location: in a foster home in South Korea❗ Say hi to OhGong👋 a sweet, friendly boy with a charming black muzzle! He was found on the street in South Korea at 3 months old and taken to a high-risk city shelter along with his five other siblings. Luckily, they were rescued right before euthanasia by the rescue team and started living with other dogs in the local shelter. Despite some time spent at the shelter, Ohgong was given a chance to live in his current foster home in June 2023. His current foster family has been taking good care of him since, and Ohgong has learned how to harmoniously live with people with love, and now he is ready to find his forever home😊 • Personality: Friendly, Sweet, Gentle Just like when OhGong was widely known for his super friendly personality among the shelter staff, he continued to be very loving and sweet to his foster family. He loves to kiss you and be petted by you. His energy level is medium. He is usually calm at home but becomes active when playing with toys! Plus, he is such a gentle walker. • Affinity with - Dogs: Very dog-friendly! He doesn’t even bark towards other dogs. - Cats: He tends to chase cats out of curiosity but doesn’t show aggression. - Adults/Kids: Good with people in general but a little bit shy around male adults / Okay with kids. He is rather indifferent to them. • Walking Manners: Super well-mannered! Pacing with his person without pulling the leash. He responds to “Let’s go” while sniffing around. • Housetrained: Fully housebroken, going potty outdoors as well as using pee-pads indoors • Bathing/Brushing: Tolerates both very well. • Car Rides: Very comfortable with car rides. • Shedding level (1~10): 5-6 • Separation Anxiety: None. He showed some signs of separation anxiety at the beginning of foster, but not anymore when two months of foster passed. He spends most of his time sleeping while he is left alone at home. • Barks/Howls: Almost none. Just a little bit of barking only when greeting his family at home. • Appetite/Food Allergies: No allergies. • Likes/Dislikes: OhGong LOOOVES playing with toys, especially squeaky ones! He seems to even prefer toys to treats. If you have an open heart and a loving home for Ohgong, please don't hesitate to apply!

Story
To learn more about Belle, please get in touch with dogs@lostdogrescue.org Presenting the ever-beautiful Belle! This former mama is on the lookout for her forever home. She took such good care of her puppies, she’s sure to take great care of your family. At 6 years old and 26lbs, Belle is a good size and good age all around. Belle has the poise of her beagle breed and has even gotten along with cats in her foster home. Belle has also done well with dogs her size or smaller and LOVES food. She will take it right out of your hand! Belle would do best in a home with children older than 10 until she learns how to politely take food. That’s not to say she’s a troublemaker at all, in fact, she’s the opposite, always playing the angel and staying out of trouble. Belle has been very submissive in her foster home, quiet and reserved. She would love a home where she can continue to come out of her shell! If this great beagle with motherly instincts strikes your fancy, please contact us! Don’t miss this chance to Belle-ify your home!

Story
Please contact Diane Pedulla (dianep@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet. This little guy will zip right into your heart ZIPPY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Zippy        Best Guess for Breed:  Beagle / Hound mix    Best Guess for Age:   2 years as of 01/24/2025        Gender:   male Approximate Weight:   20 lbs.  Gets Along With: other dogs; Zippy hasn't been observed with kids or cats but we can test. Currently Living At the shelter, Zippy needs a foster and a forever home. Special Adoption Considerations: Zippy is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.  We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Zippy is Looking For: everything a young dog could want! A new home where he will be safe and loved, other dogs to play with, new scents to sniff, good food to eat, toys to tear apart, and places to explore. Adopt Zippy and every day after that life will be filled with joyful possibilities. At 2-years of age, Zippy is just getting started. Maybe his life wasn't the best early on but now he is ready to make up for lost time. Zippy can't wait to go on long walks with his new humans (with plenty of stops for sniffing of course). Beagles were bred to hunt in packs so several visits to the dog park or doggie daycare each week will allow Zippy to run off-leash and play like dogs do.Beagles are known for being loyal but also for being stubborn. Start training early so Zippy learn how to be a very good boy. Just don't let those adorable puppy eyes con you into giving him too many treats. Beagles are notorious chow hounds but staying trim will help keep Zippy healthy. Beagles have a tendency to be vocal and training can help address issues such as barking. We would be happy to talk more about this with applicants who live in apartments or condos. Positive reinforcement, consistency, and patience are key in training any dog. What My Foster Says About Me: We will update as soon as Zippy arrives and spends some time with a foster. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Story
Willie Mae is the sweetest girl! She loves cuddles and playing! She loves going to the dog park and meeting new friends. She prefers not to be stuck in the house or alone for long periods of time due to separation anxiety. She is 9 years old but does have fun spurts of energy and absolutely does not act her age lol I believe she would be best fit with someone who works from home or is retired and does not have small children and can give her lots of love and attention!
