Story
Mae Needs a Special Home – Let’s Talk About Focal Seizures Mae is a sweet and fun 5-year-old beagle mix who’s ready to find her forever home! She was found as a stray, but now that she’s settling into her foster home, her adorable personality is shining through. With her cute short tail and a happy wiggle that takes over her whole back half, Mae is impossible not to love. She’s house trained. When she’s not showing off her good manners, she’s enjoying her favorite hobby: napping (with the softest little snores). Mae is fantastic with dogs, cats, and kids, making her the perfect fit for just about any home who is willing to love her. She even loves wearing her pink jacket. Recently, Mae was diagnosed with focal seizures, but don’t let that scare you—she can still live a happy, full life! What Are Focal Seizures? Focal seizures happen when abnormal electrical activity affects one part of the brain. Unlike full-body seizures, they may cause mild twitching, lip smacking, or brief staring but don’t always lead to unconsciousness. Are Seizures Common in Beagles? Yes! Beagles are one of the breeds predisposed to epilepsy, but many dogs with focal seizures live normal lives with little or no medical intervention. What Do Seizures Look Like? A focal seizure may cause: ✔ Twitching on one side of the face/body ✔ Staring into space ✔ Lip smacking or chewing ✔ Momentary confusion Mae’s seizures are not frequent, and her bloodwork looks great. She doesn’t need medication at this time, and many mild cases never do. Does This Affect Her Life? Not at all! Mae’s lifespan and quality of life are normal. She’s playful, affectionate, and full of love. If her seizures increase, simple daily meds can help manage them. What Does Caring for Mae Look Like? Mae’s care is just like any other dog—good nutrition, vet checkups, and love! If she has a seizure, just stay calm and let it pass. Right now, she’s thriving!

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Ladybug lost her home when her owner had to relocate across states and couldn`t take her along. She lived in an apartment as a constant companion to her owner. She`s a sweet, happy, friendly lady of just 40 lbs, a nice medium size. She`s laid back, housetrained, easy on a leash, and a nice companion. She can be a little shy at first meets so give her a little time to get to know you, she`s so worth it. She`s spayed, vaccinated and ready to leave for a new life ahead as a quiet and steady forever friend.

Story
We know that Gia’s perfect family is out there and will love her forever! We are amazed by this resilient girl. Gia was found as a stray in the Houston area and has been rehomed numerous times, through no fault of her own. Gia is so friendly and playful with other dogs after proper introductions. She currently lives with 2 other dog foster siblings. Gia loves riding in the car and visiting friends at her favorite pet supply store. Because of her difficult past life, Gia can be slower to warm up to men, but she is making great progress with her foster mom and dad. We know that Gia’s perfect family is out there and will love her forever! If you would like to add Gia to your family, please submit an application at www.savingsouthtexas.com/adoptables

Story
Indica is an almost 7 year old beagle mix, I’ve had her for about 4 years! My apartment has been getting onto me about her whining, but now she’s on gabapentin to help and I haven’t gotten any more complaints. Now they’re telling me either she leaves or I do and I cannot afford to move. Indy is the sweetest girl ever and her favorite place to be is your arms being held like a baby!

Story
Hello future forever, for real this time, family. Get your tissue ready because I have a super sad story to tell you about my last owner.  Six years ago I was rescued from a shelter by a man who is a long distance truck driver .  He took me on the road with him for 6 years and we had a great time driving the highways and byways in his big rig but then he got a new job. That’s when things got ugly…his new company said “no dogs on the road”…so my road warrior owner surrendered me back to a shelter and I cried a lot. Can you imagine going from one extreme to another overnight???? Luckily the ladies from Paws in Prison could imagine because the trainers in the dog dorm have felt the same way. Now that they rescued me from shelter #2, I am getting all gussied up in the obedience skills department and will soon know all basic commands. I will also be crate trained, house trained, leash trained and have passed all of my vet examinations and have a microchip so you never have to worry about losing meJ!!!! The best part about adopting me is that I am past all that crazy puppy nonsense as I am a mature 8-10 year old gentleman who love to take rides and I get along with other dogs. Please fill out an adoption application today so we can start our own road trips together. ##2222468##
