Story
Meet Budster – The Road Warrior with a Heart of Gold For years, Budster was the ultimate co-pilot — cruising down endless highways, keeping watch through long nights, and always ready with a wagging tail at every truck stop. He’s seen mountains, deserts, diners, and sunsets from the passenger seat of an 18-wheeler. But now, Budster’s journey has hit a quiet stretch. His driver had to change jobs and Budster’s left wondering where his next adventure will be. He’s not meant to sit still for long — he’s meant to be someone’s shadow, a loyal companion, a best friend. Budster is: #• Loyal, calm, and deeply bonded to his humans • About 8 years old, healthy, and up to date on vet care Most at peace when he’s with someone — whether riding shotgun or laying by your feet, He could be looking for the open road or — just an open heart. Maybe a quiet home with a porch. Maybe someone who still loves road trips. Maybe you.If you’ve got room in your heart for a dog who’s given his all and still has more love to give, Budster’s waiting. www.pawsinprisontx.org Please share — help this good boy find his next ride. ##2222468##

Story
Ladybug lost her home when her owner had to relocate across states and couldn`t take her along. She lived in an apartment as a constant companion to her owner. She`s a sweet, happy, friendly lady of just 40 lbs, a nice medium size. She`s laid back, housetrained, easy on a leash, and a nice companion. She can be a little shy at first meets so give her a little time to get to know you, she`s so worth it. She`s spayed, vaccinated and ready to leave for a new life ahead as a quiet and steady forever friend.

Story
One Sweet Dog. One Treatable Condition. Meet Shoney. Shoney is approximated to be a 6-year-old, 43-pound beauty with a heart of gold (and unfortunately, heartworms too—but more on that below). Big news! Abby and Amie have both headed off on separate trial adoptions! Join us in wishing these two sweet girls the very best as they begin this exciting new chapter. We’re keeping our paws crossed for happy tails! She’s as sweet as can be, and we can’t wait to share more about her as we get to know her better. If you notice the marking on Shoney’s side, that’s not just a patch of fur—it’s a brand. At some point in her past, someone used a hot iron to mark her. It’s heartbreaking to think about what she’s been through, but what matters now is that she’s safe, loved, and on a new path to a better life. We’re so grateful to be part of her journey. She’s gentle, loving, and social—great with other dogs, adores people, and even gives cats their space. Her warm, kind eyes say it all: she’s ready for a second chance. Let’s Talk Heartworms. Heartworms are transmitted through mosquito bites and live in the heart and lungs. If left untreated, they can be serious—but the good news is that heartworms are treatable, and many dogs go through treatment successfully. Treatment typically includes a course of antibiotics and a series of injections to kill the adult worms. During this time, dogs need to stay calm and have their activity restricted to help reduce the risk of complications—but they can still enjoy lots of love and snuggles along the way. Why you shouldn’t be afraid to adopt a heartworm-positive dog: • Shoney will see the vet tomorrow to start her care plan. • Hound Rescue will continue to pay for her heartworm treatment at Emancipet in Austin, even after she’s adopted. Shoney is currently being fostered in Georgetown, Texas, and she was recently gifted a DNA test—we can’t wait to find out more about her unique mix! Let’s find this beautiful girl the home she deserves.

Story
Scarlett and Bowie were found by a wonderful volunteer who paid for their rescue from a life of being chained outside. The pictures show their transit together and first bath after being rescued. It is evident of the change from being scared/confused to being a more confident dog (the profile pic) has already taken place in a very short time for Bowie. There is a picture of the scarring on his neck from the chain that held him once, which will possibly heal in time. Bowie visited with our vet after Easter and he was diagnosed with a severe heart murmur. He is scheduled to visit with a recommended cardiologist in May, so we can learn more on his condition. He certainly doesn’t let this attribute get in his way as he is still playful and loving. He is learning pet life and to be good indoors with one of our great fosters.

Story
Dolly was rescued from a hoarding situation in Seguine.  She was at term with her pregnancy and was scheduled to be euthanized by Animal Control.   She had her puppies 2 weeks after we got her.  She was very fearful and would not be touched.  over the past three months, she has come a very LONG way towards building a relationship with people.  She is wary of strangers and goes into fight or flight mode.  She is much clmer when she is on a leash with a person she trusts.  She is learning to walk on a leach and to be more comfortable in common areas like on the deck or in the yard.  She was in a house with 40 dogs so she's great with other dogs!   SHe will take time, patience and love, but you can see in her eyes, she is ready to have a real family.  To aplly for Dolly:  https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/57447/generic ##2223925##
