Hello! I'm Bonnie, a spirited beagle with a zest for life. My day revolves around walks through the neighborhood and riding shotgun in the car where I eagerly take in the passing scenery. When it is chill-out time, I like to retreat to my kennel and engross in my favorite pastime- chewing on bones. I love to sit with you and have you stroke my big floppy ears. I love my crate and do all my business outside. I may come off a bit guarded at first but only because it takes me time to warm up to new human and canine faces. I am also not a fan of cats- just not my cup of tea. I'm looking for a patient and understanding family who can help me feel secure and loved. I tend to resource guard my things so a home with older children or adults who can understand this would be ideal. I promise to repay you with kindness and loyalty. Story
7 year-old Dallas was an owner surrender. Despite having heart worms and kneecaps that dislocate easily, Dallas is a lively boy who loves to run after toys that are thrown! Dallas is around 15+ inches tall and a 32 pounds. Dallas is house broken with the use of a dog door. He leaves things alone except the many toys he finds to paly with! He loves to play tug of war with his foster siblings as well as beagle style fetch…you throw it and then chase after him to get it back! Dallas is a sweet, loving boy who can be very loud and vocal when crated. Both heart worm injections and knee surgery would require crate rest for a month or more for this boy. We have decided to do slow kill treatment for the heart worms with a year’s supply of Advantage Multi. Dallas will also need joint meds to make life comfortable. HBHR will pay for knee surgery if needed down the road. Apply today to give this wonderful boy a second chance at the Good Life!

Story
Bagel is a 7 yr old male who was found stray in Galveston last summer. He was a whopping 55 lbs when he finally made it to HBHR in the winter and now down to an impressive 42 lbs after being on a diet and exercise regimen in his foster home. Even with a slight arthritic limp on his back right leg caused by the weight he will beg for and be ready at the door for his walkies . He can be better on the leash but for weight loss purposes we sped up for him a bit. Bagel is completely house broken, including mastering a dog door. He is great with kids. He will be ok as an only dog or with canine buddies, but no cats! Oh, and a great car rider! Overall, Bagel will need a home where he can lounge around , but also commit to continuing his daily exercise and diet regimen and most importantly love him the way he deserves.

Tortilla is an 8 y/o senior boy who was found stray and taken to the city shelter. At 48 pounds this boy must have found a good spot for eating when on the streets! He is down to 37 muscular pounds and can run with the pack! Tortilla tested positive for heart worms and will be adopted with the remainder of his year’s supply of Advantage Multi to complete his treatment. Tortilla is a happy boy who like to talk to you! He will let you know what is going on with his pack mates and how he is feeling! He is fully house broken and loves the dog door. Unfortunately, he also loves it when it rains so makes frequent trips outside then back in the shake!! Tortilla could barely walk when he arrived at the Bungalow. He had to sit and rest every few feet but now he loves nothing more than to run when the call goes out that there has been a critter sighting! Tortilla loves attention but is never demanding of your time. He will make a wonderful companion for someone who is committed to giving him plenty of exercise and keeping him on a diet! Please make a place in your home and heart for this boy!

Tulsa is a darling, silky, female, 11-mo.- old blue-tic beagle mix. She has beautiful, distinct coloring, and looks exactly like a beagle, except that her ears are a little shorter. She still has all that puppy playfulness and cuteness. She was recently spayed and is in excellent health. Tulsa is crate-trained and a doggy door master. We are still working on going potty only outside, and she still needs to remember what items she should chew on. Tulsa is very friendly and affectionate with every person she meets. She wants to be a lap dog, and loves to give kisses. I’m sure she’d love to sleep in bed with humans, but she has been sleeping in her crate. Tulsa gets along well with her foster family’s four beagles. However, she has shown distress around other dogs, and we recommend that she be adopted by either a family with no other dogs, or an experienced adopter that will give her lots of time to adjust to other dogs. If you want a friendly, affectionate, dog to love you the rest of her life, Tulsa could be your girl!

Carly is a very loving 12-year-old girl who was abandoned by her former owners. She had a few skin issues but she's looking fantastic now and ready for her new home. She loves to go on walks and snuggle under the covers. She gets along with her other beagle buddies and knows simple commands. She's heart worm negative and house broken.
