Story
See Courtesy Posting Disclaimer * High energy and a connoisseur of snuggles, Rudolph 'Rudy' is a 3-4 year old, special-needs, epileptic beagle who’s the best of both worlds. This little guy simultaneously has the energy and stamina to keep up with you during exercise, while also having a PhD in advanced napping. His favorite things are running at the dog park, hanging out with you in the kitchen, and cuddling up with his family for bedtime. - Medical History: Vaccinated, neutered, on monthly worm preventatives, and recently had dental cleaning/work done. Has medication-resistant epilepsy. Rudy is on two daily medications (Phenobarbital and Potassium Bromide) to combat his monthly cluster seizures, but because he is resistant he may never stop having them. He requires frequent vet visits to check his blood because of the Phenobarbital. Phenobarbital is a diuretic (pees more). - Temperament: Rudy is friendly to all people and pets, including adults, children, other dogs, and cats. He has no natural aggression and only snaps from dogs jumping on top of him. He can be picked up and carried. He loves to snuggle with people and dogs, and he is not very interested in playing with regular dog toys, only treat toys. However, he loves being around people and animals, even if he isn't very playful!- Behavior: Though friendly, he is high-maintenance and has a few behavioral problems that require an experienced owner. He is extremely high energy, has a lot to say, as all hounds do, has not taken to potty training, and cannot be left alone in a room for very long. He sleeps in a crate at night 85% of the time, but he doesn't always enjoy the crate and will bark to sleep in bed with his family instead. He knows how to sit, shake, lie down, speak, and wait (sit quietly), but only obeys half the time. He does not take “no” for an answer if smells or food are involved, so make sure you are ready for a challenge when it comes to training! Rudy has some specific needs, such as exercise and medication for managing his epilepsy, but with some extra care, this handsome devil can be your new best friend. Story
I’m Dennis, a 1-year-old Beagle/Jack Russel mix with an apricot and white coat that’s just as sweet as I am. I tip the scales at 42 pounds, and I’m neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. I’m a friend to kids, dogs and cats alike. I’m a bit shy but give me a few minutes and a couple of treats and we’ll be fast friends. I am learning house manners and quickly catching on to potty training. I know how to use the doggy door and everything! I am very gentle when I take treats. I enjoy romping around in the backyard and playing with the other foster dogs. Sitting alongside as you garden is another special service I provide. I also enjoy toys and chew bones. Besides the occasional romp, I am low energy and enjoy taking naps on the couch throughout the day and snuggling with people when we can. But if you are up for a hike or other adventure, I am happy to go along and be by your side. I do guard my home and people strongly. I will need to be introduced to other dogs away from the home. I am great meeting new people and dogs at festivals and restaurants. But at home I will give loud barks to let everyone know I am head of security. What can I say? I can be a bit feisty. I don’t mind cats. I have met them several times and I just don’t bother with them. I am quite a funny dog too and will sit in your lawn chair to relax and do other silly things. I’m currently in Franklin, TN, but for the right home, I can be transported to other states. Please note, there is a transport fee. Are you the loving home I’ve been dreaming of? Fill out an application so my rescue can figure out how great we’d be together.

Story
Gizmo is a 5-year-old Beagle Hound mix.  He would like to be king of his castle and live his best life as an only dg. He is looking for a home that includes car rides and snuggles. He is probably not a good fit for a home with kids unless they have lots of dog experience. Due to his history of lack of food, he is very protective of his food which could cause issues with kids. Out of respect for our foster’s time and privacy we do NOT arrange meet and greets without an application on file. Therefore the first step in our adoption process is to fill out the form on our website. We have one form that is printable and one that is an on-line fillable form. Our agency is ran by volunteers. We will get back to you as quickly as we can. If you have specific questions please email us at graingerhumane@yahoo.com. We do not have a shelter location with regular hours. All of our dogs are in foster homes. All dogs are fully vaccinated and spayed or neutered before adoption. https://graingercountyhumanesociety.org/available-dogsNovember 6, 2024, 12:10 am
