Story
Let's talk about this sad story right here! This guy, rocky, has grown up, literally in the shelter. One of the volunteers who walks the dogs goes there every day and takes them for a long walk! She cries every time she thinks about how long he's been there, especially because he is so perfect, he's great with kids! He's great with other dogs. He loves to walk he's kennel trained he's happy all the time his tail never stops wagging it just goes to show you what a special boy he is having been at the Shelter for so long and he still has a beautiful disposition , we would love to get this guy his family. If you would like to consider making him part of your family, please follow the link below to our adoption application. https://forms.gle/APKvbgFJcaRvgKgk9

Story
See Courtesy Posting Disclaimer * High energy and a connoisseur of snuggles, Rudolph 'Rudy' is a 3-4 year old, special-needs, epileptic beagle who’s the best of both worlds. This little guy simultaneously has the energy and stamina to keep up with you during exercise, while also having a PhD in advanced napping. His favorite things are running at the dog park, hanging out with you in the kitchen, and cuddling up with his family for bedtime. - Medical History: Vaccinated, neutered, on monthly worm preventatives, and recently had dental cleaning/work done. Has medication-resistant epilepsy. Rudy is on two daily medications (Phenobarbital and Potassium Bromide) to combat his monthly cluster seizures, but because he is resistant he may never stop having them. He requires frequent vet visits to check his blood because of the Phenobarbital. Phenobarbital is a diuretic (pees more). - Temperament: Rudy is friendly to all people and pets, including adults, children, other dogs, and cats. He has no natural aggression and only snaps from dogs jumping on top of him. He can be picked up and carried. He loves to snuggle with people and dogs, and he is not very interested in playing with regular dog toys, only treat toys. However, he loves being around people and animals, even if he isn't very playful!- Behavior: Though friendly, he is high-maintenance and has a few behavioral problems that require an experienced owner. He is extremely high energy, has a lot to say, as all hounds do, has not taken to potty training, and cannot be left alone in a room for very long. He sleeps in a crate at night 85% of the time, but he doesn't always enjoy the crate and will bark to sleep in bed with his family instead. He knows how to sit, shake, lie down, speak, and wait (sit quietly), but only obeys half the time. He does not take “no” for an answer if smells or food are involved, so make sure you are ready for a challenge when it comes to training! Rudy has some specific needs, such as exercise and medication for managing his epilepsy, but with some extra care, this handsome devil can be your new best friend. Story
Henry is a handsome hound mix who loves to play and spend time with people. Henry is special, he was found as a stray at about 3yrs old so we don't know his background and what challenges he faced before coming to the shelter.Henry needs someone who is patient and willing to work with him while being mindful of his triggers. We have found that Henry doesn't like to be pulled by his collar, nor does he like his head being restrained, it makes him anxious. While Henry may have some triggers, he's incredibly responsive to positive reinforcement and is eager to learn and grow with the right guidance. He likes to please and he is very smart so with some positive guidence, he'd make a great companion.Henry loves to play but also likes to chill and relax with his people at the end of the day. Having been in foster care, Henry has had some house training and recognizes the command sit. Can you find it in your heart to take Henry in? He can't wait to find his forever family who will cherish him for the wonderful dog that he is.

Story
Gizmo is a 5-year-old Beagle Hound mix.  He would like to be king of his castle and live his best life as an only dg. He is looking for a home that includes car rides and snuggles. He is probably not a good fit for a home with kids unless they have lots of dog experience. Due to his history of lack of food, he is very protective of his food which could cause issues with kids. Out of respect for our foster’s time and privacy we do NOT arrange meet and greets without an application on file. Therefore the first step in our adoption process is to fill out the form on our website. We have one form that is printable and one that is an on-line fillable form. Our agency is ran by volunteers. We will get back to you as quickly as we can. If you have specific questions please email us at graingerhumane@yahoo.com. We do not have a shelter location with regular hours. All of our dogs are in foster homes. All dogs are fully vaccinated and spayed or neutered before adoption. https://graingercountyhumanesociety.org/available-dogsNovember 6, 2024, 12:10 am
