Story
Coal / Male / Approx 10 months / 25 lbs / Beagle Cross / Good with Dogs / Untested with Kids / Untested with Cats / From Tennessee / Fostered in Toronto Meet Coal! Coal's foster describes him as affectionate, playful, sweet, and energetic He came to us after he was surrendered with his siblings to a shelter, and then pulled by our partner rescue in Tennessee. Despite having a bit of a rough start, Coal is a happy go lucky guy. He loves to play, and go for walks, but also loves napping and is always up for a good cuddle. He is friendly and warm with all people and dogs, and loves making new friends. Sometimes he gets a little too excited and jumps up to give a lick, but he’s still a puppy and working on his manners. Coal has not yet been tested with children but his foster believes he would do very well with dog savvy kids. As Coal’s mom was a Beagle-he loves to follow his nose. He’s a great walker and currently gets 3/30 minute walks per day. He pulls a bit when he gets excited, but it’s mostly when he wants to say hi to someone. This is something he is working on. He’s a very good boy and has already gotten the hang of the commands “no”, and “stay”. In addition to walks, this clever boy thrives with lots of enrichment activities like lick mats, puzzles, and training. He is aaaalmost there with potty training, and will require some support when he moves into his forever home. Coal has been left alone for up to 4 hours and does very well. When his fosters leave the house, they always make sure to walk him first and provide toys or puzzles so he settles well in the crate. When not crated, he lays down and waits for his fosters at the front door. At night time, Coal sleeps in a crate where he can see his people. As long as he is next to them, he relaxes and sleeps comfortably. Coal also does very well in the car and would make a good road trip buddy! Prior to coming into care, Coal tested positive for Anaplasma which is a tick-borne infection and is not contagious. A CBC was performed to see if there is an active infection. Coal 's CBC came back indicating that there is no active infection however it is recommended that Anaplasma positive dogs get an annual blood test to monitor and that pre-op blood work including a CBC test and platelet count be performed before any surgeries or dental extractions. As a condition of the adoption contract, Coal’s new family will be required to: - Ensure he has an opportunity to go outside every 2-3 hours. If you work full time, this means hiring a dog walker to come in 2x per day for a puppy visit - Attend and complete a basic obedience class at your own cost (proof required). - Provide plenty of socialization opportunities – both dog and human – it's important at this stage. If you’re interested in adopting Coal, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Coal’s adoption fee is $900. PLEASE READ BERYLS’S BIO IN DETAIL TO ENSURE THAT SHE WILL BE A GOOD FIT FOR YOU AND YOUR LIFESTYLE BEORE APPLYING. PEASE NOTE: BERYL IS BEING FOSTERED IN THE MONTREAL AREA We at All Paws Matter believe in the benefits of post-adoption training for our dogs and their families. This allows for continued socialization, learning and helps to create a well-mannered and balanced dog. This is now a requirement in our adoption process. Proof of training classes for puppies specifically is required before adoption. NAME: BERYL Age: 1 YEAR Breed: Mexi-Mix Sex: Female Weight: 25 lbs Location: Montreal, QC Adoption fee: $600.00 Spayed/Neutered: Yes Leash trained: Work in progress House trained: Yes Kids/Cats/Dogs: Yes, dogs, Yes cats, children 6+ Vetting: Up to date on all vaccination, sterilized, microchipped, 4dx tested: negative for Heart worm. Currently on flea/tick/heart worm prevention, dewormed and vet checked before arriving. Medical Issues: NONE Comes with 4 weeks free pet insurance (after initial vet visit) Beryl named after the hurricane can be just that, she is full of life and energy but just as easily can be calm and cuddly.  If you are looking for a Velcro dog, she is your gal, she is always ready to be by your side, or more accurately on your heels to share your next adventure or nap.   Beryl is a social butterfly; she is friendly and loves everyone she meets.  Men, woman, children…She is very docile yet sweet when meeting new people. She is incredibly adept at reading other dogs and although she would love to play with them all she is respectful of those that have no interest in play and gives them their space. Beryl has prey drive towards squirrels, birds and yes skunks, however, it is very easy to redirect her attention away from such critters. Beryl doesn’t like flies, they really get on her nerves. She walks nicely on a leash and loves to go for walks, the longer the better.  She is a high energy dog and will need an outlet for this energy daily to avoid behaviour issues. She is still very much a puppy and needs to be monitored or she will look for things to get into.  She is very smart, easily trainable and in-tune with her environment, she will literally read a room, you can almost see the wheels turning in her head.  Because of this I think with some additional training she could make a remarkable therapy dog.   She is crate trained and happily retires to her crate.   She is terrific in cars and loves going for rides. Her ideal adopter would be one with an active lifestyle and want to include her in every aspect of it.  She would be fine in a home with or without another dog, and as I said before she is highly trainable, so her potential is huge.  She will make someone an amazing companion. She is good with cats and fine with children 6+ If you feel you would be the right fit for Beryl, please fill out an adoption application at https://www.allpawsmatter.ca/apply-to-adopt/ All APM dogs are UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, spayed or neutered, dewormed, Heart worm (4dx snap) tested and arrive with a health certificate. They come to adopter with a harness, a collar and two leashes for safety. NOTE: The above description is relevant to this dog in its current and previous setting. Home changes and adopter personalities can bring out different behaviours not previously seen. We also do not claim or suggest that our dogs are hypo-allergenic or that they shed/do not shed. BREED DISCLAIMER: We are never sure of the breed of our dogs since they arrive off the streets or shelters. It is a guess only!
