He's done well with other dogs and has spent some time around older children and enjoyed lots of cuddles. He walks well on leash but his beagle nose often stays to the ground and he likes to investigate new smells. Although, he's been quiet during his stay with us so far, his breed is famous for singing the beagle blues! With his compact size, stunning good looks and charming personality, Huck would be an amazing companion. Those who are confirmed over 4 months old or older will have their rabies vaccinations. Age permitting, dogs/puppies are tested for heartworm disease. Cats/kittens are tested (and are negative) for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) and Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV). All are treated with flea/tick prevention and given internal parasite preventative on a regular basis. Adopters are offered (4) FREE 1 hour training sessions with our partnered trainer after the adoption is finialized. These sessions are offered in person if local to Hampton Roads area of VA or if out of the area, online sessions are available. Meet Rocky He is a 10y old neutered male beagle who is looking for a new home for the new year. Rocky finds himself at BTTR through no fault of his own. This good boys previous owner left him with a friend while looking for a new place to live and was unable to reclaim him after 3 months. The owner and friend turned to BTTR for help finding a new home for Rocky. Rocky's wish list includes a home with a fenced in yard, and the opportunity to go on walks and play with other dogs a few times a week. He loves running zoomies around the yard, chasing another dog through the leaves, sniffing trees on a walk, and sleeping on a cozy bed. He has done well in a home with other dogs, seems interested in cats but is respectful, and would be a good fit for kids and most older people. He was neutered on Dec 16th, just had blood work run, is microchipped, heartworm negative, and up to date on vaccines. He has a Senior Wellness exam scheduled for Dec 26th. Mistletoe is an adolescent spayed female beagle or beagle mix puppy born around July 16, 2024 currently weighing around 13lbs. She was surrendered to BTTR after her previous family decided they weren't prepared for all the exercise and care a puppy needs. She loves to play with other dogs, loves toys and exploring outside. She is very smart and learned the dog door in minutes. She is very food motivated and eager to learn. Puppies are a lot of work, she will need to go out during the day, learn to walk on a leash, she may pee when she gets excited, or bite when she is playing. Beagles are high energy breeds and we want this home to be her last home since she has already had 3 in her short life. One of her previous owners said they purchased her from a beagle breeder but its hard to tell with puppies so we are listing her as a beagle or possible beagle mix just in case. Based on her current weight she will probably be a small or medium breed when fully grown. She needs a home with a fenced in yard, a family that can take her for lots of walks or another younger dog who likes to play. She is still learning not to jump, bite, and scratch so children in the home need to be over the age of 5.
