Story
Lily is a 3.5 year-old, 30lb beagle mix with lots of love to give. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and in great health (all medical records and preventatives provided). Lily is affectionate, playful, and happiest with her people. She has a moderate energy level—enjoys walks, outdoor time, and cuddling at the end of the day. She is house trained, crate trained, and does well when left alone without separation anxiety. Lily has professional training and knows commands like sit, down, stay, place, heel, and focus, and walks nicely on leash. She is friendly with adults & has been loving in her interactions with people she meets. Lily will do best as the only pet in a home without young children. She has shown resource guarding behaviors (food, trash, toys) and has struggled with other dogs. She needs an experienced, patient owner who can provide structure and consistency. We want to find Lily a safe, stable home where she can truly thrive.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. INTERESTED IN MEETING OR ADOPTING MARTHA from Best Friend Pet Adoption rescue? If so, please fill out our dog adoption application by copying and pasting this link in a new browser window: https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC   Meet   Martha   – a happy, curious, and full of gentle sweetness little senior with so much love to give.  Martha is the kind of dog who reminds you that the best things in life are simple: a cozy couch, a warm sunbeam, and a home where she’s finally part of the family. After spending most of her life outdoors in a kennel, Martha is discovering just how wonderful indoor life can be—and she’s absolutely charmed by it all. This lovely girl has a low energy level, making her a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys a relaxed pace. She loves to sniff around the yard, explore new things, and then curl up for a peaceful nap—preferably in a sunny spot on the couch. Every now and then she’ll surprise you with a burst of adorable zoomies or a little wrestling match with one of her dog friends. Martha is very friendly with people and gets along beautifully with other dogs. In fact, she currently lives with a rotating group of foster pups and does great with all of them. While she could be an only dog, she would probably love having a canine buddy or two to share her days with. She’s also a wonderful house guest. Martha is crate trained and does very well when crated at night or while her foster is at work. She’s mostly housebroken, with only the occasional accident, especially while learning a new routine. With patience and consistency in a new home, she’ll master it. Because she spent much of her life outside, Martha still finds everyday household items fascinating. When she first arrives, you might catch her curiously carrying off a shoe, pillow, remote, or even a small rug—not out of mischief, but pure excitement at all these new treasures! It’s part of her adorable charm as she learns what home life is all about. She’s a quiet dog, rarely barking unless the rest of the pack gets excited. She could do well in many homes, including an apartment, as long as her new family understands she may need a little time to settle into a new routine. She rides in the car but can sometimes get carsick, so she’s probably more of a homebody than a road-trip companion. What Martha wants most is something she’s never truly had before: a soft place to land and someone to love her through her golden years. She doesn’t need much—just kindness, patience, and a comfy couch to call her own. If you’re looking for a gentle, soulful companion who will appreciate every bit of love you give, Martha may be the perfect addition to your home. And giving this sweet senior the life she’s always deserved will be one of the most rewarding decisions you’ll ever make.  Martha is going through treatment for heartworm disease.   Best Friend Pet Adoption will provide medical care and cost while she is going through this treatment.  This is not contagious and she is fine to be around other pets.   Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  Applicants ideally should live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore prefer applicants that live within an hours drive of Cary NC.   INTERESTED IN ADOPTING MARTHA? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please be sure to read Mae's bio before applying for her.Mae's life began in an unsupportive and neglectful home.  She was confiscated from her original home and brought into a county shelter.  One animal on the property had been tethered and found starved to death, and Mae was one of several other dogs that were impounded.  She was so emaciated that she wasn't far from death herself.  Mae has learned many new things in a loving and supportive foster home, and her foster family has learned a lot about her- and where she would be most comfortable.    Mae would do best in a home with another dog, she loves to wrestle and play.  Another dog her size or larger would do best, since she can be an exuberant play companion.  She completely ignores cats, so having kitties in the home would be ok too.  She definitely requires a secured fenced in yard (no underground fences please) and a home that has the capability to utilize gates to keep her safe until she has had the chance to become acclimated to her new environment.  She can be a bit nervous with new people, but she warms up fast.  She would do best in a home where all children are 12 and over, since she has had limited exposure to children.  Mae still carries memories of her past, and the one detail she is sure of is that her previous tormentor was a bald man- she is terrified of bald men,  men with hair do not seem to be an issue.  She requires an experienced family that will give her the time she needs to get comfortable and blossom into an excellent companion.    Mae is leash trained, house trained (though rainy days can be challenging), crate trained, and she rides well in a car.  She has been spayed, microchipped, and is up to date on vaccines.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 3:23 pm

Meet the “C” Litter! ☘️🐾 Carter, Cardi, Carsyn, Carleigh, and Carmen are five adorable members of our newest puppy crew. These little cuties are classic Heinz 57 mixed breeds, which means they’re a delightful mystery mix of who-knows-what… but 100% adorable. Their mama weighs about 30–35 pounds, and we expect the puppies to grow into a similar medium-sized range. It’s the perfect size for adventure, snuggles, and everyday life. Right now they’re busy doing important puppy work: exploring, playing, learning about the world, and perfecting their heart-melting expressions. Like all puppies, they will need families ready for training, patience, socialization, and lots of love as they grow. We are now accepting applications for this adorable crew! 🐾

Story
Bright eyes, a smart nose and a beagle body, Izzy is the complete beagle package! Izzy is an adult gal who weighs about 26 lbs full grown. Don't let her smaller size fool you as this girl is active and likes to be outside and doesn't mind being on the move a bit. She would actually do best in a home that is active and does not seem to care much for the more sedentary kind of apartment living. Izzy is good with other dogs but would also happily settle into a home with you and yours. She does well in her crate and has great leash skills already and acts like a lady when it comes to using the bathroom in all of the right places. This beagle is bound to keep you active and then head right for nap time when the walks and fun having have been done. She would be a great addition to most any family and needs to be on your "must see" list!
