Due to changing family health and travel circumstances, we are unable to provide the care our beloved Alfie deserves. Our children are away for college and unable to take him with them. Alfie is a sweet, affectionate beagle, (Birthday: July 15, 2015). He is fully housetrained, loves human company, enjoys playing fetch, and looks forward to his daily walks (morning and evening), after which he eagerly awaits his treat. We are located in the Carrboro/Chapel Hill area and are willing to meet within a reasonable distance to ensure Alfie finds a loving home. If you're interested in giving Alfie a caring home, we'd love to connect and discuss further.

Story
Tula is a 25lb mix, about 7yrs. Ive had her since she was about 1yr and LOVE her. But I moved (for health reasons) and she keeps getting out of the yard and I cant afford a new fence. For her safety Im looking for a new home. She loves people, is dog selective but loves to play with doggie friends. My other two wont play with her and she is bored. Tula needs a securely fenced yard, and someone to love her. She has lived with a cat before and did well. Its been several yrs since my cat died so I dont know how she would do now. Likely fine with a calm cat. VERY smart and loves training. Positive reinforcement ONLY. NO SHOCK, PRONG OR CHOKE COLLARS, NO CESAR MILLAN FANS. Pros: cuddly, smart, friendly with people, low shed, good with dogs she knows. Needs just 1 walk/day Cons: Can be leash reactive towards other dogs but does well with support. Im a dog trainer and have worked with her. I can teach you how to handle it. No other cons. She is an absolute doll and you will love her!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please be sure to read Mae's bio before applying for her.Mae's life began in an unsupportive and neglectful home.  She was confiscated from her original home and brought into a county shelter.  One animal on the property had been tethered and found starved to death, and Mae was one of several other dogs that were impounded.  She was so emaciated that she wasn't far from death herself.  Mae has learned many new things in a loving and supportive foster home, and her foster family has learned a lot about her- and where she would be most comfortable.    Mae would do best in a home with another dog, she loves to wrestle and play.  Another dog her size or larger would do best, since she can be an exuberant play companion.  She completely ignores cats, so having kitties in the home would be ok too.  She definitely requires a secured fenced in yard (no underground fences please) and a home that has the capability to utilize gates to keep her safe until she has had the chance to become acclimated to her new environment.  She can be a bit nervous with new people, but she warms up fast.  She would do best in a home where all children are 12 and over, since she has had limited exposure to children.  Mae still carries memories of her past, and the one detail she is sure of is that her previous tormentor was a bald man- she is terrified of bald men,  men with hair do not seem to be an issue.  She requires an experienced family that will give her the time she needs to get comfortable and blossom into an excellent companion.    Mae is leash trained, house trained (though rainy days can be challenging), crate trained, and she rides well in a car.  She has been spayed, microchipped, and is up to date on vaccines.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 3, 2024, 10:18 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.MEET RANDY! Randy is an 8 year old,  21 lb. beagle mix dog.  Randy is a loving and affectionate dog that will make a very loyal companion.   Randy is very friendly with everyone he meets.  He is a very relaxed guy who loves other dogs too.  He is currently living with cats and does fine. Randy is very chill but does like to play with other dogs occasionally.  He needs a buddy and won't do well as an only dog.  He would do great with a family that leaves the house to work or with a family that works from home.  His energy level is low.  He will occasionally play and do zoomies but mostly hangs out and sleeps.  Randy does not require a fenced yard.  Potty breaks on a leash and a nice walk everyday would suffice for his exercise.   He needs to be taken outside on a regular basis for his potty breaks.   Randy is crate trained but he does have some crate anxiety.  An airplane style crate is better than a wire crate for him.  At night he sleeps in his crate with no problem.  Randy is a sweet happy boy who loves to cuddle and hang out.  He loves to eat and loves to go out for a walk.  He is looking for a forever home where he can love his humans and in return be part of a loving home. Randy has a heart murmur which is being treated with a common doggie  prescription.  His foster Mom can explain more about this with any approved applicant.  Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  We prefer that applicants live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We will consider applicants who live a bit further if they are a great fit for this sweet guy.    INTERESTED IN ADOPTING  RANDY? Story
Everyone meet Piper! She is a medium sized puppy who is full of love and sass - she could chase a ball endlessly while also being your best cuddle buddy! She is very smart and learning her puppy manners well, she lives to please! She has adjusted exceptionally well to a cushy home life and is getting along well with her doggie playmates. Piper does have some awkward wobbles with walking because she was born with underdeveloped knee caps, but that doesn't stop her from running and playing like any other pup! Her knee caps may grow in better as she gets older and our vets are monitoring closely. If you have any questions about Piper or her needs please reach out -- she is a perfectly imperfect girl! ##1852742##

Story
Sloth is a playful, gentle, caring little guy who loves people, walks, and eating meals. Sloth is kennel trained as long as he gets walked regularly. He is kind of an odd looking dog, but don't let his looks fool you, he is very intelligent and eager to learn. He is very cuddly and loves to be affectionate. Sloth was adopted from the animal shelter since October 2023 and is healthy, vaccinated, and microchipped. Our other dog is not getting along with him. He is a good boy who just needs a good home. If we can't find a home for Sloth soon, we will have to take him back to the shelter.
