Story
Sophia's birth date is 1/10/23. She is very affectionate and loves to cuddle. She is crate trained and house broken. The only issue she has is separation anxiety. She would be great with someone that is home more often than not. With me not being home, she has developed anxiety and spends way too much time in her crate, which isn't fair to her.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sundance is available for adoption.  He is a beagle mix, 2 years old and 17 pounds. Awwwwoooo. Sundance loves to sing the song of his Beagle people. You'll here it sung a few times a day especially at dinner. Food happens to be a favorite hobby of his. Cheese and baby carrots are his go-to choices but he'd be happy with anything and that can mean sneaking his pal's kibble too so you need to be a bit of a watch dog for this high spirited hound.   In true Beagle fashion he thinks personal boundaries are nonsense. Your shoes and holiday decorations could look like fun toys to our boy, if he gets left alone or bored when you have the audacity to have something else to do but lavish attention on him. He's not a fan of being crated and would definitely balk at that but having a room with a gate where he can spend time when you're out will be ideal.   Once those formalities are taken care of it's pretty clear sailing with Mr. Sundance. He loves other dogs and playing chase and tug with them. He's full of energy, potty trained and loves to spend time outside when the weather is nice . Having a canine buddy and a fenced yard would be his idea of the perfect forever home. He's okay with walking on a leash but at present it's not really one of his favorites so you might have to help him over a threshold or two. He's kitty-friendly and will try to get them to join the fun. The kitty will be the winner of those negotiations.  Sundance is great guy and he'll definitely be the Snoopy to your Charlie Brown! Sundance is neutered, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm.  His adoption fee is $450    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 6, 2024, 3:47 pm

Story
Rocket is a 2 year old neutered male Beagle. Rocket is good with kids, cats and dogs.  This Path to Home group starts 11/14/24 for 8 weeks. Volunteers For Animals and Orleans Correctional Facility have developed a Dog Training & Fostering Program within the prison that will provide socialization and basic obedience training for the dogs before being adopted. Volunteers For Animals will be pulling dogs from high kill shelters and locally who may be in need of behavioral support to become more adoptable. The dogs will then be transported to Orleans Correctional Facility where they will live with selected inmates who will care for them 24 hours per day for approximately 8 weeks. Each dog will have a crate, bedding, leash, collar, training treats, and food provided by Volunteers For Animals. A certified dog trainer will provide weekly training classes for the dogs and the inmates. The inmates will then work daily to reinforce the formal training with the dogs. Adoption Procedures The adoption process includes an application that is completed by the potential owner. If there are multiple applications on the same animal, the animal will go to the best home for that particular animal - not necessarily the first application. Fees for the Path Home animals are $200 per animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. All of the dogs are current on vaccines, heart worm tested and spayed/neutered. If you would like to be considered for any of the Path to Home dogs, please email us. Please do not call the Shelter regarding Path Home animals - they do not have any information. Email us at info@vol4animals.org regarding this program.  Here is the adoption process:   To adopt an animal you must complete an application and be approved. There is a $60 fee for any animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If the animal is not spayed or neutered, there is a $35 deposit which will be returned upon proof of surgery. All dogs must be licensed before leaving the Shelter. Please note that public offices that issue dog licenses are not open on Saturdays and Sundays. All cats must leave in a carrier.   Thank you for considering a homeless animal.November 10, 2024, 2:23 pm

Story
Billy and Bobby showed up in the front yard of our rescue in terrible condition after being attacked by a pack of street dogs. Both boys were in rough shape with multiple lacerations and bite wounds. In spite of their injuries both dogs were loving and sweet. They stayed in foster while receiving veterinary care and have completely recovered. Billy bares the physical scars from his injuries on his face, but his soul is loving and happy! He is always looking for attention and cuddles and has a beautiful and joyful little hop that he does to show his happiness! They are both fun-loving, playful and silly and they do well with other dogs! They ignore the cats at the shelter. We believe they are about a year old. Our adoption fee is $400 and unless otherwise stated all dogs and puppies have been spayed/neutered, 4DX tested(if age appropriate), Put on heartworm/flea/tick prevention, age appropriately vaccinated, dewormed, vet checked and flown from Puerto Rico.
