Story
Hi, I’m JJ, a sweet and spry 10-year-old Beagle mix with a heart full of love to give. For most of my life, I was a devoted companion to one person, but sadly, they passed away. Now, I’m looking for my next special someone to love and protect. I thrive on routine and enjoy several walks a day – they're the highlight of my day! I’ve been diagnosed with a thyroid condition, but it’s well-managed with medication (easy peasy to take!), and I’m feeling great. Everyone says I’ve slimmed down nicely, and I must admit, I love showing off my svelte figure during my strolls! I’m a people-focused pup and bond deeply with my person. My protective instincts came from living with my last owner, who I loved dearly, and I’m ready to share that same loyalty with someone new. While I’m polite around other dogs during walks, I prefer to keep my distance and would do best as your one-and-only furry friend. If you’re looking for a faithful companion who will adore you unconditionally, I’m your guy! Complete an application to meet me – I can’t wait to start our new adventure together. 🐾 Please complete the application to meet me and let’s make it happen. Neutered with all updated shots Please fill out the application on this link https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/POSH/Dog

Story
Say hello to Scout! We love him because he has a wonderful fun personality but he's also a mellow guy. He's a 2 year old Beagle mix but he's chill and QUIET so we're stumped on what other breed he may be. He's fully grown at 34 pounds which makes him a perfect medium sized pooch. He's so fun and upbeat and his secret power is that he loves other dogs and is such a calm boy. We rescued him from a crowded Shelter where he was a "Tester" dog to gauge other dogs' energy level and make a determination if they were dog friendly. It's amazing to watch videos of him meeting other pups with varied energy levels and see how he was cool and relaxed with all of them. He's truly a charming and smart little guy who will be so easy to live with. We're looking for a loving family who will cherish him forever because that's what he deserves! We think he'd thrive in a suburban home with a fenced in yard and would love a doggie sibling although it's not a must as long as he gets love and exercise from his family. He's healthy, up to date on all his vaccinations and neutered so he's ready to find his family. Reach out to Long Road Home (lrhrescue@gmail.com) to get more pics and see his video of meeting other dogs. Get ready to fall in love!

Story
“Buddy is pure joy. He wakes up happy, goes to sleep happy, and wants to be included in everything in between.” Buddy is a 2 Year Old/ 26 lb Beagle/Dachshund Mix. Buddy is playful, energetic, and incredibly sweet. He LOVES his toys, especially tug-of-war and fetch, and gets so excited for walks, meals, and meeting other dogs.  “His favorite thing is saying hi to everyone. People, dogs, the world, Buddy wants to be friends with it all.”Buddy is fully house trained and has really settled into his routine. Moving his crate into the bedroom made a huge difference for him, and he now sleeps comfortably and relaxes well when his people are nearby. “He’s affectionate, loyal, and always checking in with us. If you sit on the couch, Buddy will absolutely join you.” Like many young, curious pups, Buddy is still working on his manners. He can pull on leash and gets excited by scooters, runners, and skateboards but he’s already training with @magneticdogtraining and making great progress. His enthusiasm comes from excitement, not fear, and he’s learning how to channel it calmly! “Buddy feels everything BIG: his love, his excitement, his joy. That’s part of what makes him so special.” His ideal home is one that enjoys daily walks, playtime, and continuing his training, ideally in a quieter area with space to explore. Story
Calypso - 12 weeks & 17lbs (as of 1/10/26), Beagle/Aussie Mix, Neutered Estimated full grown size about 50lbs  Level of dog ownership experience needed:INTERMEDIATE: As an adult, this dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Relevant puppy care experience is a huge plus, but bare minimum the adopter must have TONS of time and patience. Raising a puppy can be a lot of fun, but it’s also  tremendous work. Puppies’ personalities and exercise/stimulation requirements change dramatically between now and when they’re a year old as their bodies and brains develop, so an active lifestyle and the ability to adapt to a pup’s evolving needs are a must. We strongly urge professional dog training with a rewards based trainer from the get go. Adults only or kids ages 8 and up – all puppies go through a mouthy, rambunctious phase and often accidentally hurt children when playing. PLEASE DO YOUR OWN BREED RESEARCH to make sure you have a better understanding of the kind of temperament and exercise requirements this dog may have as an adult. EXPERT: As an adult, this dog will need loads of structure and daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 2+ consecutive hours of quick paced movement plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. PLEASE DO YOUR OWN BREED RESEARCH to make sure you have a better understanding of the kind of temperament and exercise requirements this dog may have as an adult. Energy levelMEDIUM: Very young puppies sleep and nap a lot, but their energy level skyrockets when they become teens (4 months to around a year). As an adult, this dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day at a minimum. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  EXPERT: Very young puppies sleep and nap a lot, but their energy level skyrockets when they become teens (4 months to around a year). (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  POTTY TRAINED?Working on this skill. Puppies under 12 weeks old are often on track with their wee pad skills, but they’re too young to walk outside in public NYC areas yet because they haven’t finished their puppy vaccine series. Puppies older than 12 weeks are usually learning to do their business outside. Potty training takes a lot of patience, consistency, and clean up.  SOCIAL WITH DOGS?Yes. Some puppies are shy, others are bold, but all have the potential to be taught healthy socializing skills. It’s a huge part of raising a puppy and must be done carefully. How they interact with other dogs depends largely on how their humans help them learn to.  SOCIAL WITH CHILDREN?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)Yes… but most puppies are not a great match for a home with kids under age 8 because they go through intense mouthy play and rambunctious phases and often accidentally hurt young kids while playing. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age respectfully.   SOCIAL WITH CATS?Yes. Almost all puppies have the potential to be friends with a cat. It’s on the adopter to know their cat’s temperament and preferences and to teach their puppy respectful manners.  MOUTHY PLAY: High! All puppies go through phases where they chew your stuff and grab your hands, arms, feet… puppies naturally explore the world, play, and test boundaries with their mouths. (It also happens when they’re teething.) Their teeth are super sharp though, so it can be a very painful phase for humans and other animals in the home. Proper training, outlets, and socialization are key. SEPARATION ANXIETYMEDIUM: Most puppies have some level of separation anxiety as they learn to self soothe. Often they cry the first 10+ minutes when they are left home alone or in a crate. Consistent training and alone time is crucial. LEASH MANNERS:None. :) Will need to learn this skill.   CRATE TRAINED:Nope. None of our new puppies have been formally trained, but many of our foster parents/adopters choose to crate train. It can be a great way to keep puppies safe and teach them independence. MEDICAL STATUS:Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP and Bordetella vaccines (for dogs under 4 months old, adopters will need to finish the DHPP vaccine series and administer the Rabies vaccine at 16 weeks of age), spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon HOW DID THIS DOG END UP WITH US?Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Los Angeles and Puerto Rico. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes.
