Story
Rex was born around March 31, 2022 and weighs about 50 pounds. Rex is with us because his humans gained custody of a special needs child and it was decided that finding Rex a new home was in his (Rex's) best interest. Rex is wonderful with cats and other dogs and is the sweetest boy ever. Rex is a teensy bit shy at first but within minutes he is a wiggly, adorable, goof, who wants to snuggle and play. Rex loves car rides and walks nicely on a leash with some pulling at first. Rex was purchased from a shady pet store which is now out of business. They sold Rex as a Collie Shepherd mix but we are struggling with that. We feel he's more of a Beagle mix of some sort. He is gorgeous black and white along with rusty red markings that reminds of Bernice Mountain Dogs! He does have an odd growth on the inside of his right ear flap about the size of a dime. Their vet looked at it and told them not to worry about it. We are going to dab with some organic apple cider vinegar (with the mother) every day and see if it begins to shrink/heal. Rex is the kind of dog that will hang with you outside, off leash, while you do your chores or are playing with him - once he is adjusted and knows he lives there. Rex doesn't mind baths and he is enjoying our pond. Rex is nicely house trained. Now for some complexing information about Rex - the family that raised him from a pup said that he was wonderful with the special needs child, but the child was causing him physical and mental discomfort. Rex did find a new home for a few months and was returned because he was uncomfortable (circle barked) around visiting children in the home. He adored the children in the home and a very sad little boy about 8 was dragged away from our car when he had to say good-bye to his dog buddy. When we pulled in Rex was off leash and out front, met us in the driveway and did also circle bark at us. So, at this time I guess we feel that he would be happiest, along with his forever humans, if it is a home without a lot of visitors/visiting children and one with a confident overtly friendly dog for him to romp and play with. Please help us find this home for the adorable Rex! The Adoption Fee for this dog is $500.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability.
