Story
Jolene was born around June 24, 2022 and weighs about 20-25 pounds.  Jolene came to us from Kentucky with the one hour at a time volunteer transport team and a very kind overnight foster person.  Everyone along the way adored her as we do now! Jolene did have a home in Kentucky with the town drunk and he tossed her out the front door and said he "wanted her gone".  A kind neighbor called her over and kept her until she could get her into the hands of another kind person and then she, tearfully, loaded her in the first transport car to come here to us.  She is very sweet and affectionate and really loves to be carried (good thing she's little) and snuggled with and have her belly rubbed.  Jolene rides well in the car and LOVES to wrestle, play, run, with other dogs and she does need another fun playmate in her next life and a large enough, physically fenced, safe area in which they can release the energy she has.   She is also a very good swimmer.  This is all we know so far and we will be learning as we go!  The Adoption Fee for this dog is $500.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a "complete" pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.    Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES   We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. Story
Bernie was born around October 15, 2020 (this is a guess and perhaps he could be a year or two older) and weighs about 30 pounds.  We were told Bernie was one of a few cherished Beagles owned by an elderly man who had a stroke and will not be coming home from the care center.  The man's adult children didn't really care for the Beagles and decided to no longer care for them.  Another rescue took one of the little girl Beagles and she was skin on bone and actually pooping out pebbles - I guess when there is no food you eat whatever fills you up.  We heard that there was another couple of them that needed rescue and we took in this delightful little boy and, thankfully, his condition was not as severe.  Bernie was a little underweight and eating really well.  We can't imagine what the living conditions were to have caused such an odor that we had to crack the windows on the near hour ride back to Joyful.  His two back dew claws were curled into his flesh and a vet visit diagnosed the plum size 'bump' beside his tail, on one side, as a rectal hernia.  It is likely Bernie has had this all his life and, at least at this time, it doesn't bother him and he defecates just fine.  We were told that it may or may not bother him the rest of his life and if it does there is a surgery to fix it.  We adore this little boy and he is startying to feel worthy of our love.  We feel that he truly didn't feel he deserved all the love and care he was receiving from us.   We don't feel he has been physically abused, but he surely felt unlovable.  Bernie walks wonderfully on leash!   Well, that was all to change!  Soon he began wagging his tail more and adjusting to his new life.  He ADORES the fenced yard and romping with all the other dogs here!  He does love all of us new humans and someone out there is going to be so very happy when they find this adorable little boy and welcome him into their home!   The Adoption Fee for this dog is $500.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. Story
Rex was born around March 31, 2022 and weighs about 50 pounds.  Rex is with us because his humans gained custody of a special needs child and it was decided that finding Rex a new home was in his (Rex's) best interest.  Rex is wonderful with cats and other dogs and is the sweetest boy ever.   Rex is a teensy bit shy at first but within minutes he is a wiggly, adorable, goof, who wants to snuggle and play.  Rex loves car rides and walks nicely on a leash with some pulling at first.  Rex was purchased from a shady pet store which is now out of business.  They sold Rex as a Collie Shepherd mix but we are struggling with that.  We feel he's more of a Beagle mix of some sort.  He is gorgeous black and white along with rusty red markings that reminds of Bernice Mountain Dogs!  He does have an odd growth on the inside of his right ear flap about the size of a dime.  Their vet looked at it and told them not to worry about it.  We are going to dab with some organic apple cider vinegar (with the mother) every day and see if it begins to shrink/heal.  Rex is the kind of dog that will hang with you outside, off leash, while you do your chores or are playing with him - once he is adjusted and knows he lives there.    Rex doesn't mind baths and he is enjoying our pond.  Rex is nicely house trained.  Now for some complexing information about Rex - the family that raised him from a pup said that he was wonderful with the special needs child, but the child was causing him physical and mental discomfort.  Rex did find a new home for a few months and was returned because he was uncomfortable (circle barked) around visiting children in the home.  He adored the children in the home and a very sad little boy about 8 was dragged away from our car when he had to say good-bye to his dog buddy.  When we pulled in Rex was off leash and out front, met us in the driveway and did also circle bark at us.  So, at this time I guess we feel that he would be happiest, along with his forever humans, if it is a home without a lot of visitors/visiting children and one with a confident overtly friendly dog for him to romp and play with.  Please help us find this home for the adorable Rex!   The Adoption Fee for this dog is $500.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. Story
I acquired Charlie & Bruce from a rescue place in Rochester, NY when they were 2 months old. They came to our house to bring happiness, love and companionship to my boys and my family. They are brothers and have never been separated from each other. They born on 05/18/2018 and they are very sweet, obedient, trained and loves people and other animals. I have a cat and I also had a bunny that grown up with them. Because of my husband work, we a out of the country We travel a lot, and I couldn't have time for them, and we cannot take them with us. We are heartbroken, but we expect to find a new family that can give them the love and care my family has being given to them until now. We would like to find a someone that accept both, because they are best friends and love to play together. We are willing to deliver them, and send any additional information needed.
