Story
Meet Simba! He is almost 3 years old and is a Peagle, which is a beagle and a Pekingese. Some dogs take a really special person (with a lot of dog experience) and Simba is such a dog. Simba has some history of behavior problems, and is looking for his forever home that will love him and help him become the dog he can be. To be very clear : he does have a bite history with his previous family, and is only a candidate for an experienced adopter. He has resource guarding issues that need to be addressed. While he DOES get along with other dogs in casual interactions and loves to play - he will also guard what he believes is “HIS” - his toys, bones, food, bed, crate from other dogs as well as people. We are happy to share that he has had no bites since moving to his current foster home 8 months ago, where proper precautions and an environment was created to work with his issues. Simba does have a senior friend named Denver, he is a beagle mix as well. Denver is a dog's dog and doesn't much care for people, so if you are up to the challenge, Denver would love a home with Simba to call his own, for the time he has left! Simba's new home will be required to have a yard, as well as no children or cats. If you are a serious candidate to adopt Simba, please email us for additional information at contact@friendswithfourpaws.org Still interested in becoming a forever home for Simba, even after all you have read? Fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we don't go any further without an application. Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws . We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting Simba. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and Simba the perfect forever home, and appreciate you working with us. For immediate consideration, please attach your application to the initial inquiry to help us expedite the process. Our adoption fee is $475. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster

Story
ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home.  In some cases, we can help transport.  Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions  follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:)       Sweet 4m old Lucy from Puerto Rico        All dogs are located in NY/NJ areaAll our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social.     Facebook: Zani's Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted there)Twitter: zanisff Instagram: zanisfurryfriends   Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, Rabies vaxed, and microchipped (not Lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it!)  All are in the NY/NJ area but we will adopt out of state to the purrfect home and in some cases, we can arrange transport.  Please go to our site  https://zanisfurryfriends.org  fill out an application  Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent--please ask by writing us at dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.   Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Our weekend locations are: Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent  Follow us on FB, Zani's Furry Friends ZFF, for latest updates. Usually we are in our foster homes so all this is a bit more stressful but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer. And you can always donate:) Cats and Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD w/ all age appropriate shots and microchipped. Cats are feline combo tested for FIV/FeLV; dogs are heartworm tested and rabies vax'd, (NOT lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it); rabbits are spayed/neutered. Please fill out an application and email to: For Cats: cats@zanisfurryfriends.org For Dogs: dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org For Rabbits: nyc.acc.rabbits@gmail.com. Please visit our website zanisfurryfriends.org.

Story
Barry, an adorable 2 year old who’s 40 lbs of charm, is ready to be scooped up by his own person! He was abandoned on the street and a Good Samaritan brought him to the shelter. We don’t know why he was left behind, but that’s in his past, and his caretakers and volunteers have erased all Barry’s negative memories. He is a very playful and loving dog. He loves attention and going for walks where he can discover the world. He is good with other dogs and curious about them when he meets them on his daily walks in Central Park. Barry’s easygoing and affectionate temperament make him an ideal companion for all types of households. He loves social interaction and is great with kids. He is being fostered in Manhattan with a family with 2 kids (8 and 10 years old) and one female dog. He has quickly adapted to his new environment. He has a moderate energy level so regular walks, playtime, and mental stimulation are important for his well-being. He is crate-trained and he enjoys his naps there. He can be very funny, and when his foster parents come back home he is so excited to see them that he looks like he dances and his butt goes side to side. It’s hilarious! Barry is up to date on all vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped, dewormed, Heart worm (4dx snap) tested, and has a health certificate. He comes to an adopter with a harness, a collar, and two leashes for safety. Interested in this sweet love bug? Please visit our website to fill out an adoption application or email us at sosanimalwelfare@gmail.com. We are looking forward to hear from you! Charming Barry is ready and waiting for some belly rubs!

Story
1 year, 25lbs, Beagle Mix, Spayed  IMPORTANT NOTE: Shiloh can not live in the city. This pup needs an out of ciy home - burbs and beyond!  This dog is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Their Foster Parents Say: "Shiloh was very shy for the first week or so but we let her take her time and get to know her surroundings. Once she started coming out and interacting with the household she was a completely different dog. She needs some extra love and patience as she is pretty scared of most new things. Little kids, parking lots, moving vehicles, and loud noises invoke big feelings for her so she will need lots and lots of positive reinforcement. She's a very smart girl and picks up on everything she sees and hears. She will need lots of stimulation like long chews, puzzles, long walks in nature, and sniffing games in the grass. We like to do early walks in the morning and various backyard play and potty breaks throughout the day. She usually will sleep pretty well during the daytime if she gets a good, stimulating walk in the morning. In the afternoon a good long chew keeps her occupied for a while. I have been doing her meals in a sniffy mat so she doesn't gobble it down too quickly and she gets to have an activity at the same time. Even though she has her few quirks, once she is comfortable Shiloh is a pretty easy dog. She really wants to cuddle with our beagles but they're too grumpy for a young pup. She plays really well with our little girl beagle too. She would do well in a house where there is another young dog who likes to play with others, or a patient buddy who will let her cuddle." Level of dog ownership experience needed: INTERMEDIATE: This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Energy level  MEDIUM: Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Cuddle Bug LevelMedium — Likes to snuggle when he's in the mood but often stays in his own bedPotty TrainedYes — Knows to go on command. Needs a handful of potty breaks. Comfy with strangers?Takes Time to Warm Up — It just takes her a day or so to warm up to new people. She is still very apprehensive/scared when encountering new people. But once she is comfortable she is a very playful and silly girl.Good with Children? (ALWAYS requires supervision)Not a great match for a home with kids -- calm teenagers and up is okay. Shiloh is very scared of little kids, particularly the loud noises they make.Good with Other Dogs?Yes — Shiloh has done well with our two beagles and is anxious to play. On walks/on leash she is nervous and skittish around other dogs.  She would do well with another young, medium/small dog or a dog who will let her cuddle with them. Good with Other Animals? (cats, small pets, etc.)Not sure if good with cats — we can cat test for approved adopters Mouthy Behavior? Respectful  – She enjoys chewing on bones, antlers, and hooves but is good about not chewing on people items.Leash Manners?Getting the Hang of it – She is pretty nose driven and will pull for a sent and she will pull ahead when there are people or dogs in view, but she does pretty well on leash otherwise if the area is quiet (no cars, people, dogs). We have mostly been doing hikes with her and down our dead end street.Okay in the city?Nope — Needs a suburban home Jumping on People to Say Hi?Low – Doesn’t jump up on people or dogs. Always all four on the floor. Separation Anxiety? Nope – Completely fine being left home alone. Doesn’t cry or do anything shitty when you leave the apartment or house. Crate training? Yep – Shiloh is fine with using a crate. Her previous foster used one but her current foster doesn't use one.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. Story
Have you always dreamed of meeting your very own Snoopy? Alpha is the perfect beagle boy for you! Alpha (aka Alphie) is a 9- 10 year old, 20 lb. beagle mix from the ACC! He has adjusted very well during his time in the city. Alpha loves going on walks, playing in the leaves, and being cozy at home with his humans and dog foster sister. Alpha is a very smart boy who already knows “sit” and “stay” and is working on other obedience skills.  During his time with his foster family, he seems to be mostly housetrained. He does all of his business outdoors, as long as he can go for regular walks. Alpha is pretty great on the leash, and is working to get even better! He is super friendly with people, and sometimes gets distracted by all of the exciting smells in the city. Sometimes he barks at bigger dogs or birds and wants to jump over to say hi, but he’s easily redirected.  Alpha is a loyal, loving, happy-go-lucky pup. Always sweet with a wagging tail, he’s happy just to be with you. His forever family will need to continue working with Alpha to reinforce and advance the progress he’s been making. He’s a smart dog who is eager to please – he should adjust and learn quickly. Alpha has done okay in his crate during the day! He will sometimes cry for a little while but usually settles after a bit. If his family gives him time to adjust to being in the crate before they leave for the day, he does much better. He is generally well-behaved and could potentially be left safely loose in an apartment in the future. Though he would love to sleep in the bed with his humans, Alpha does great in his crate through the night. He loves to be cozy with his foster family and can often be found curled up on the softest, tallest cushion in the room.  Alpha is looking for a low-key to medium active family. He’s very happy to nap all day with his humans, but has great energy for his age and loves being outdoors too! He appreciates downtime and active moments equally. He’s the perfect mix of a sleepy couch potato with a dash of playful energy. Alpha would be great as a solo dog or with another dog at home. He has apparently lived with cats before too. Alpha enjoys the presence of his foster sister, but mostly leaves her alone. While we have not tested Alpha with children yet, his foster family believes he could be good with them. Vaccinated for rabies, DA2PP, and bordetella. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. To apply for Alpha, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available. Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue. Adoptions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org ##2240843##
