Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Adam! Adam is 3-4 years old hunting surrender beagle. Unfortunately he came in with heartworm disease but is currently being treated. As a hunting dog he lived chained to a dog house. Living this way means he was not well socialized and lacks some socializing skills. He does currently live with another dog but would do best with a very submissive female.  He also currently live with cats, but i do not recommend a home with cats, he likes to pester them and has prey drive. He is learning to be a house dog. He is crate trained and sleeps in bed at night. We are working on potty training, it’s been a little difficult with the steroids from heartworm treatment. He seems to be catching on. Should be much easier when he is off steroid and neutered. Adam is a little bit of a clingy boy. Defiantly a lap dog, he likes to be close or on his people! Personal space means nothing. He often waits in the bathroom while foster mom showers and gets ready for work. He is smart and food driven. He has learned to sit. He sits before he goes to his crate for meals. He is a bit of a messy drinker though, he leaves quiet a trail. He really just wants a person to live and call his own. He is defiantly loyal and loving. Right now he is up for foster to adopt, until he has complete treatment, tests negative for heartworm and is neutered!            Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.All animal breeds and ages are a best estimate November 4, 2024, 11:56 am

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Barkley is an active boy that gets along with other dogs and cats. He loves good game of chase with his fur foster siblings. He is 95% housetrained, he does have accidents in the house, but because we didn't see his cues (watching TV most likely). Barkley is a happy guy that likes car rides and walks. He actually does not bark very often. He is a beagle, so he follows his nose, runs at top speed and begs for food. He is a sweet boy and a snuggler... Barkley would do best with a fenced in yard. Barkley is neutered and up to date on his shots. Barkley would be a great dog for just about any family. Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to    Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $45.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.River is a sweet, loving, submissive tri-color Beagle boy. He is young dog, estimated age 6 - 8 months old and tips the scale at 20 lbs but he may put on a bit extra weight as he matures. He is calm for a beagle. River is good with other dogs and loves playtime in the yard. Beagles are known to follow their noses so River needs a securely fenced yard to be safe. Hes still a puppy and he may chew things he shouldn't unless he is directed to chew toys. Training will be required to make River the best canine citizen he can be.< River is neutered and ready for a new home. He needs a home where someone is at home most of the time because when he feels lonely he will bark to attract attention. He sleeps through the night in a crate if it is placed in the same room as his humans. Again with patience and training this may resolve and things might become different when/if he can be left alone at home without being confined. Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Hello! I’m Tanbo (now named Snoop). I was adopted from Last Day Dog Rescue as a pup and now see myself back here due to family issues. I’m a very inquisitive pup and like to find my way into many things, but I’m learning that I’m not allowed to do so.  Anything to do with treats and I’ll be right there with you, but if you have your own food, I may sniff it. I really like to play with toys. As long as the toys are not stuffed, we won’t have a mess. I shred them within minutes, so harder chews would be best. I like to go for walks, I’m leash trained with slight pulling but I’m learning how not to do that. While we are out on our walks, I like to sniff everything I can because it’s all so interesting to me. After our long walks I like to curl up on the couch next to my humans and sleep. I enjoy being under the covers with them as well! When meeting new people, I do bark. Once I get to know them, I’m fine. I do get along with other dogs, I just bark a lot. However, I also resource guard my toys, so being an only dog may be best for me. I do chase cats, so I might not be the best with them. My current humans think I may have some separation anxiety, so for now I will have to be in a crate until I calm down and learn they will come back. I was just recently diagnosed with Cushing’s disease so I will be medicated for the rest of my life, but that doesn’t make me any different to love. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. November 15, 2024, 9:15 am

Story
AVALON Attributes Likes some other dogs Housetrained Crate trained Needs a fence High energy This gorgeous young gal with movie-star looks is Avalon! Avalon is a beautiful and energetic beagle mix girl who would make a great companion for an avid walker, hiker, runner, or active family. A home with a yard where she can burn off her puppy energy by romping and playing would be ideal. Playtime with other dogs is a serious business for Avalon, and she does best at playing with another confident dog. Avalon is a beagle/boxer/terrier mix, and we’re guessing that she’ll weigh in the neighborhood of 50 pounds once she’s an adult. Because of her size, she’ll need supervision around smaller children but should be fine with older ones. She’s cautious around strangers and may sometimes bark but will warm up to them if given time to get to know them. She is also nervous about noises and new situations. Avalon is currently training to help her gain confidence. Avalon’s foster mom says that she a very smart girl and is picking up obedience basics such as “sit,” “wait,” and “come,” and is working on improving her leash manners. Avalon rides well in the car and goes to doggy daycare two or three days a week, where she really seems to enjoy hanging out and playing with her friends there. Her foster mom says she’s very food motivated and “eats like a vacuum” (show us a beagle who doesn’t!), so if there are other dogs in the house, she should be fed separately from them. When it’s time to go to sleep, Avalon is equally happy to snuggle up in a dog bed or people's bed – she just wants to be comfy! She’s housetrained with the use of a doggy door. If you’re looking to liven up your days with a sweet, affectionate, energetic companion, Avalon may be the dog you’ve been looking for! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI). Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full-time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor or doggie daycare arrangements. We discourage the adoption of puppies to families with children under the age of six, since puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets, hands, feet and other important parts of your child's anatomy.

Story
Hi, I'm Maybug! I'm a sweet little girl that is full of energy! I love to be outside to run and to have a playmate that wants to run with me. I also like to just stay out and sleep in the sun on nice days. I am very prey driven and the smell of a critter in the yard brings out the beagle in me! If I catch sight of an animal, I do like to let out the beagle bark and will sniff and search the grounds for a long time! A fence yard will definitely be a must! I do have fear of people that I've made a great amount of progress with. When excited, I will go in to be petted, but other times I may need my space. I'd do better in a quiet home and some loud noises do still frighten me. Adult only, or children that understand I need low key environment would be best. I am well housetrained and have been left out when my foster parents leave without issue. I do love to have a lot of stuffed toys to play with! Even though I'm fearful, having someone around the majority of the time has been a great help and I follow my foster parents wherever they go in the house and sleep next to my foster Dad's desk as he works. At night, I may hide when my parents get ready for bed, but as soon as they are in bed, I have my bed next to theirs. I like to sleep in. I get along great with the other animals in the house. Currently I play all day with another 2-year-old beagle and love it. Having someone my age and playfulness has been a great thing for me! The other dogs in the house are older, and I leave them alone when they don't show interest in playing. I also have tried to get the cats to play, but when they don't want to, I also leave them. If you're looking for a sweet girl with lots of energy that will just need some patience to settle in, I could be the one. Contact your Midwest BREW adoption counselor to learn more about me! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
