Story
Meet Ruth! This adorable eight-month-old beagle mix is eagerly waiting to make your family complete! She's a 41-pound light-hearted gal that will provide years of love and laughter. Ruth has an optimistic enthusiasm that will brighten anybody's day. She is a social sweetie who enjoys the company of people and pups alike. She soaks up all the attention she can get from volunteers and is always up for adventure. Ruth loves to play outside and will need a yard of her own to enjoy in her new home. As Ruth is still a young lady, she will benefit from continued training as she grows. She is very eager to please and knows her basic commands. She is a very capable girl and we know she will make you proud! Based on our evaluation, we feel Ruth would do well in an active home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. She may have the potential to live in a home with other animals. We are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. Don't wait! Go to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for our baby Ruth!

Tracker is our crews big goofball. A retired hunting dog living out his best life is his senior years. He is VERY well trained and listens to all commands. He is slowly loosing his hunting drive, as well as his eye sight due to cataracts- but it doesn't stop him. . He is medium/low energy- his bursts of energy do not really last long and he is ready for a nap. Tracker is part of a bonded pair with his sweetheart and hunting partner, Daisy.

Daisy Mae is a low key gall iving out her retirement. She is a retired hunting dog along side her partner- Tracker. Daisy's ideal day includes napping in the sun and maybe sniffing out a rabbit but not chasing. She is very low energy and stays to herself. she is very Quiet and independent, just wanting to enjoy a little peace and quiet. Daisy was recently suspected to have early onset IVDD, however- no symptoms have presented in over 4 months- She is now on a "monitor and treat as needed"

Story
Age: 10 years Weight: 30lbs Good with dogs? Would like to be the only dog Good with cats? No Good with kids? No Energy Level: Moderate Adoption Fee: $200.00 Any other info: Meet Bo. This sweet senior boy has found himself sitting in a scary shelter at the age of 10 and he's not loving it. He was adopted from us as a puppy 10 years ago but unfortunately was just recently returned. Bo is a sweet boy but he does not do well with strangers in his home so he's looking for a low traffic home with someone to love him for the rest of his days. His previous owners said Bo was a perfect dog 99% of the time but he gets very worked up into a frenzy when people come to the house and acts out. He can be very fearful of new people and other animals. Bo would love to be in a calmer home. Being afraid of strangers and other animals makes living his life in a shelter pretty difficult. He would love to be someone's baby and best friend. Bo is a very distinguished gentleman with sweet soulful eyes, a super adorable scruffy face and a happy smile. He is very sweet when you go slow with him and once he knows he is safe with you, he is a friendly, affectionate, cuddle bug of a boy. The shelter is no place for a senior so please help us help him! Share his story far and wide. We know there is the perfect home out there for Bo and we won't stop until we find them. He is house trained and potty trained and food is the way to his heart, although he's too nervous to eat much right now. Bo is 10 years old, neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and kept on prevention here with us. He will also be starting some medications for anxiety to help him get through this stressful time and he should probably stay on them for the rest of his life to help his transition. If you have the perfect low traffic home and are looking for a sweet senior boy in need of a family, don't wait, please apply through the link below. https://form.jotform.com/201977724595065 Once your application is processed and approved, our adoptions team will reach out to schedule an in person meet and greet with Bo. ------------------------------------------------ Our adoption fees include the pets spay or neuter, microchip, up to date vaccines, heartworm/tick disease testing and fecal check. All adoption fees can be found on our groups' Petfinder page. Story
AVALON Attributes Likes some other dogs Housetrained Crate trained Needs a fence High energy This gorgeous young gal with movie-star looks is Avalon! Avalon is a beautiful and energetic beagle mix girl who would make a great companion for an avid walker, hiker, runner, or active family. A home with a yard where she can burn off her puppy energy by romping and playing would be ideal. Playtime with other dogs is a serious business for Avalon, and she does best at playing with another confident dog. Avalon is a beagle/boxer/terrier mix, and we’re guessing that she’ll weigh in the neighborhood of 50 pounds once she’s an adult. Because of her size, she’ll need supervision around smaller children but should be fine with older ones. She’s cautious around strangers and may sometimes bark but will warm up to them if given time to get to know them. She is also nervous about noises and new situations. Avalon is currently training to help her gain confidence. Avalon’s foster mom says that she a very smart girl and is picking up obedience basics such as “sit,” “wait,” and “come,” and is working on improving her leash manners. Avalon rides well in the car and goes to doggy daycare two or three days a week, where she really seems to enjoy hanging out and playing with her friends there. Her foster mom says she’s very food motivated and “eats like a vacuum” (show us a beagle who doesn’t!), so if there are other dogs in the house, she should be fed separately from them. When it’s time to go to sleep, Avalon is equally happy to snuggle up in a dog bed or people's bed – she just wants to be comfy! She’s housetrained with the use of a doggy door. If you’re looking to liven up your days with a sweet, affectionate, energetic companion, Avalon may be the dog you’ve been looking for! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI). Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full-time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor or doggie daycare arrangements. We discourage the adoption of puppies to families with children under the age of six, since puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets, hands, feet and other important parts of your child's anatomy.
