Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Adam! Adam is 3-4 years old hunting surrender beagle. Unfortunately he came in with heartworm disease but is currently being treated. As a hunting dog he lived chained to a dog house. Living this way means he was not well socialized and lacks some socializing skills. He does currently live with another dog but would do best with a very submissive female.  He also currently live with cats, but i do not recommend a home with cats, he likes to pester them and has prey drive. He is learning to be a house dog. He is crate trained and sleeps in bed at night. He seems to be fully housebroken now, he asked to go out, does his thing and comes back in.  Adam is a little bit of a clingy boy. Defiantly a lap dog, he likes to be close or on his people! Personal space means nothing. He often waits in the bathroom while foster mom showers and gets ready for work. He is smart and food driven. He has learned to sit, down and working on stay.. He sits before he goes to his crate for meals. He is a bit of a messy drinker though, he leaves quite a trail. He really just wants a person to live and call his own. He is defiantly loyal and loving. Right now he is up for foster to adopt, until he has complete treatment, tests negative for heartworm and is neutered!            Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.All animal breeds and ages are a best estimate November 17, 2024, 11:35 am

Story
AVALON Attributes Likes some other dogs Housetrained Crate trained Needs a fence High energy This gorgeous young gal with movie-star looks is Avalon! Avalon is a beautiful and energetic beagle mix girl who would make a great companion for an avid walker, hiker, runner, or active family. A home with a yard where she can burn off her puppy energy by romping and playing would be ideal. Playtime with other dogs is a serious business for Avalon, and she does best at playing with another confident dog. Avalon is a beagle/boxer/terrier mix, and we’re guessing that she’ll weigh in the neighborhood of 50 pounds once she’s an adult. Because of her size, she’ll need supervision around smaller children but should be fine with older ones. She’s cautious around strangers and may sometimes bark but will warm up to them if given time to get to know them. She is also nervous about noises and new situations. Avalon is currently training to help her gain confidence. Avalon’s foster mom says that she a very smart girl and is picking up obedience basics such as “sit,” “wait,” and “come,” and is working on improving her leash manners. Avalon rides well in the car and goes to doggy daycare two or three days a week, where she really seems to enjoy hanging out and playing with her friends there. Her foster mom says she’s very food motivated and “eats like a vacuum” (show us a beagle who doesn’t!), so if there are other dogs in the house, she should be fed separately from them. When it’s time to go to sleep, Avalon is equally happy to snuggle up in a dog bed or people's bed – she just wants to be comfy! She’s housetrained with the use of a doggy door. If you’re looking to liven up your days with a sweet, affectionate, energetic companion, Avalon may be the dog you’ve been looking for! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI). Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full-time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor or doggie daycare arrangements. We discourage the adoption of puppies to families with children under the age of six, since puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets, hands, feet and other important parts of your child's anatomy.

Story
Hi, I'm Maybug! I'm a sweet little girl that is full of energy! I love to be outside to run and to have a playmate that wants to run with me. I also like to just stay out and sleep in the sun on nice days. I am very prey driven and the smell of a critter in the yard brings out the beagle in me! If I catch sight of an animal, I do like to let out the beagle bark and will sniff and search the grounds for a long time! A fence yard will definitely be a must! I do have fear of people that I've made a great amount of progress with. When excited, I will go in to be petted, but other times I may need my space. I'd do better in a quiet home and some loud noises do still frighten me. Adult only, or children that understand I need low key environment would be best. I am well housetrained and have been left out when my foster parents leave without issue. I do love to have a lot of stuffed toys to play with! Even though I'm fearful, having someone around the majority of the time has been a great help and I follow my foster parents wherever they go in the house and sleep next to my foster Dad's desk as he works. At night, I may hide when my parents get ready for bed, but as soon as they are in bed, I have my bed next to theirs. I like to sleep in. I get along great with the other animals in the house. Currently I play all day with another 2-year-old beagle and love it. Having someone my age and playfulness has been a great thing for me! The other dogs in the house are older, and I leave them alone when they don't show interest in playing. I also have tried to get the cats to play, but when they don't want to, I also leave them. If you're looking for a sweet girl with lots of energy that will just need some patience to settle in, I could be the one. Contact your Midwest BREW adoption counselor to learn more about me! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
DUKE Attributes Housetrained Crate-Trained Good in car Medium Energy Not best for apartments Requires a fence “You can take the beagle out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the beagle!” That’s Duke! As a three-year-old beagle boy, Duke is an old soul with stunning green eyes and a soft coat that rarely sheds. Since being with Midwest BREW in his foster home, Duke has shown his attributes as a mild, well-adjusted, loving, happy boy, with a passion for the outdoors. He weighs around 28 lbs. According to the vet, he is in perfect health. Duke is up to date with all his shots and preventatives. As mentioned, Duke LOVES being outside. In his previous life before his parents divorced, he spent lots of time outside during the day and came into the house at night, and that lifestyle seems to suit him just well. Duke loves running out the door in the morning to begin tracking scents and announcing his findings with loud “AROOOO’s!” If it’s not raining, Duke is content being outside until it’s time to come inside. He loves having a doggy door which allows him to come and go throughout the day. Duke is more of a loner but enjoys playing with other dogs at doggy daycare, although he doesn’t like pushy or overly dominant dogs. As far as manners go, Duke is house-trained and doesn’t seem to mind his crate (although there will be some howls of protest at first.) On walks, he pulls on a leash because he must sniff everything, and he does good in the car. Like most beagles, he loves and protects his food. He doesn’t show much interest in toys, and he doesn’t demand much attention. At the end of the night, however, Duke enjoys lap time, ear scratches, and sleeping in the human bed. Duke’s ideal home will be a house that has a larger, safe, and secured yard with shade where he can continue to thrive in his love of the outdoors. Since he has a typical beagle voice, he will also require an environment that is not too close to neighbors (but preferably dog-friendly ones.) Duke enjoys his freedom outside and would not fare well in a big city or apartment life. If you feel you have the perfect home and could welcome him into your life for years, please ask about Duke! He’ll make your family grow by four feet! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

SELENE Attributes Dog friendly Requires another dog Good in-car rides Good w/children over 4yo Playful Snuggly Requires a fence Working on housetraining High energy Selene is a 10-month-old beagle mix girl weighing 28 pounds. She is very energetic, playful, happy, and affectionate. Selene loves people and enjoys being with them as much as possible. Selene is young and athletic. She is good with other dogs and enjoys running and playing with canine friends. She loves stuffed toys, balls, bones, and sticks. Selene is smart and is quickly learning her new foster home. She is learning basic commands like Down and Sit but can still be jumpy and mouthy like a puppy when excited. While Selene enjoys plenty of activity, she also likes to relax and cuddle with her people. Selene is relatively quiet but is known to join other resident dogs in barking when she gets excited or hears a strange sound.  An ideal home for Selene is one with an active family committed to ensuring she receives the attention, exercise, and playtime she needs and the love and affection she deserves. She would also love a canine sibling and a fenced yard to run around.  Selene would be a great companion on outings with her new family, hiking, long walks, running, and car rides. She's overall a well-rounded young girl. NOTE: The dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
