Story
Zeke (and Stitch) - These two have been the best of friends since I picked them up from pet wow on the same day. I don't think they knew each other before they came to SAAP, but they have grown very close over the last couple of months. They were both set to be euthanized in February, and are now living the life of luxury in a house! They aren't a bonded pair and don't have to go to the same home, but would probably love to do so. They would be a great fit for anyone looking for two dogs. They are both crate trained and house broken. They were both very very skinny when they came to SAAP, and Zeke has gained weight easily and quickly. Stitch has a hard time keeping weight on because he's very very active and seemingly has a very high metabolism. They're both playful, energetic, gentle, and super sweet. They would love a house with a fenced-in yard. They're great with kids and cats. They're still working on manners, but they are just a little jumpy at times. Zeke is about 30 lb and Stitch is about 25 lb. November 4, 2024, 10:45 pm

Meet the cutest gal on the block with the best smile, Lucinda! Lu is a 4.5 year old hound, boxer mix who loves her people, including kids, and is full of exuberance. She is also only a medium girl at 45 lbs— the perfect size in our eyes! She came into rescue at 6 months old & was adopted, but was returned 3 years later because the adopter was having a baby. Sweet Lucinda did nothing wrong, & she’s looking for a forever, loving family this time around!    Lucinda loves playing with energetic dog friends after slow meets & is working on manners (she can get a tad bit excited for some hehe)! She would love an active home where she can go on adventures with her people— a favorite of hers is hiking! A family that gives her lots of belly rubs? She says, “yes please!”   This wiggly girl is healthy & ready to find her forever home! She is house trained, crate trained, & knows basic commands! She is so smart & is ready to continue learning in a forever home to show a family just how amazing she is! November 4, 2024, 10:45 pm

Story
Introducing Gambit - the name's not just a coincidence; it's a testament to my ability to shape my destiny. Just like my Marvel/X-Men namesake, I've overcome my past and now look forward to a brilliantly bright future. My journey started in a rather somber place - a lonely field next to a gas station. Thankfully, kind souls would drop by, leaving me food and their hopes for a better life. One day, a persistent and resourceful lady decided to play her "pawn" and orchestrated my escape from that grim existence. Since then, I've been living with her and her doggy (and human) family. But now, I'm eagerly searching for my own forever family. Let's talk quirks. I'm a cheerful guy, but I've got some personal space boundaries. I'm protective of my face, so a home with adults or older, dog-savvy kids is my ideal match. I'm also a bit of a goofball and adore the company of other dogs. Now, I might not instantly become your best buddy; I take time to trust and get comfortable in my surroundings. But trust me, the patience will be worth it. I'm brimming with love and loyalty, just waiting for the right family to share it with. Here's the good news - I'm house and crate trained, proving that, yes, young dogs can indeed learn new tricks. Oh, and there's more - I'm pretty chill around cats, though a gentle introduction is wise. And I've been curious and respectful around a human baby, so that's a plus. One thing to note, though, is that I've had some reservations around men. Despite two years together, I haven't quite warmed up to my human's fianc and have snapped at him a few times. So, it might be best if I find a home without men. During a short stay with Kathy, I was a little shy but kept to myself. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a dash of X-Men flair and you're ready to give me the chance I deserve, let's make it happen. I can't wait to meet you and start this exciting new chapter together! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Ready for a new friend? Meet Honey! Honey is a sweet dog, just like her name she is oozing with affection and love. She is a very medium/small sized beagle/chi mix, she is housebroken and likes to let people know when she needs to go out by pawing at your legs. Honey doesn't like to share her affection with others and is adoptable into a single dog/animal home. She does tolerate the foster mom's kitties but honestly she would really love to be the center of someone's life. She has MORE than enough love and devotion to fill your heart every day. She is crate trained. She loves to sleep in the bed too! If you are looking for the yin to your yang, the bread to your jam or the pup to your life... HONEY is the ONE!!!! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sweet Ginger is back! This good girl hasn't had an easy life. We're pretty sure she spent the first 2 years of her life as a feral dog depending on trash or the kindness of people for food. Well she's far from feral now!She was adopted 2+ years as an only dog by a couple who loved her. They did their best to get her out of her shell but decided she wasn't living her best life so they returned her. Once back here around her Foster's pack she acted like a regular dog. She needs another dog to be with so they can show her the ropes. She loves nylabones and toys and afternoon naps. She is very happy when her foster momma comes home. She stands on her back legs and wiggles. Her best life would be in a fairly calm home with at least one other dog and no young kids. She can't wait to meet you!Ginger does have a treatable condition called Polycythemia Vera.  This is a condition that causes too high of a red blood cell count.  The treatment is blood letting every 6-8 weeks.  With this simple treatment, Ginger will lead a normal happy life.  If Ginger's adopter continue to use our veterinarian, there is a grant set up to pay for the treatment of her condition.Adoption Fee:  $200Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 28, 2024, 2:25 pm

Story
ADOPTION FEE SPONSORED! Meet PATSY PUGGLE, a sweet, gentle timid girl looking for a home. Patsy Puggle has been a months-long project for her foster mom. She came to the rescue a terrified mess. She was a stray dog who gave birth to puppies. She had to be trapped in order to be captured along with her pups. We were told that a rescue agreed to take the puppies, but wouldn't take mama because she was so terrified. It's been a journey getting Patsy ready for a home, but she's finally ready! Patsy Puggle is a puggle (pug/beagle)-type mixed breed girl, 5ish years old and fully grown at 25 pounds. Patsy needs a quiet home with a patient adopter who will help build her confidence. Patsy Puggle needs a well-balanced dog sibling to help her navigate life. She adores her confident foster sister. She MUST have a fur sibling, no exceptions. Patsy Puggle needs a secure, physically fenced yard to keep her safe. Patsy Puggle is housebroken, crate trained and dog and cat friendly. She is not a suitable dog for a first-time pet parent. If you would like to meet Patsy Puggle, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. Story
SLIM is a sweet older beagle boy who was destined for euthanasia after landing in a rural shelter in rough shape. We are so glad we were able to save this sweet gentle guy. He's about 8 years old and 26 pounds. Slim is a low key guy who loves to cuddle. He's housebroken and crate trained, fine with kids and other dogs. He's not particularly interested in other dogs, we believe he'd be perfectly fine as an only dog. Slim tested positive for heartworms and is currently undergoing treatment. He poses no threat to the health of other dogs in the home. Left untreated, heartworm disease kills dogs. PLEASE keep your dog on a heartworm prevention plan as prescribed by your veterinarian. Slim will go to a furever home for an extended trial period, his adoption will not be finalized until his treatment is complete. He must go to a home in greater Cincinnati, his treatment will take place at our vet's office in Batavia. If you'd like to meet Slim, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. CINNAMON is the sweetest little beagle girl. She's right around 1 year old and fully grown at 17 pounds. Cinnamon is a gentle girl who loves to cuddle with other dogs and her toys. She loves following the pack around in her foster home. She's not a big player she just loves the companionship. Cinnamon loves to drag all of her toys into her crate then nap on her toy pile. She will on occasion drag in shoes as well but she doesn't chew the shoes, she just adds them to her toy pile. Cinnamon is fine with cats and other dogs, adores people, walks well on a leash and is housebroken and crate trained. She LOVES dinner time and treat time and likes to cuddle with her people. She needs a home where she will have the companionship of another dog and a physically-fenced yard to keep her from following her beagle nose into trouble.
