Story
Sloopy is a 6-year-old, 26-pound Beagle with a heart full of love and a story full of resilience. Found in a ditch along a rural road, unable to use her back legs, Sloopy was taken in by Washington Paws and More and quickly stole everyone’s hearts. Recognizing she needed specialized care, they reached out to us—and we knew we had to help. Sloopy was evaluated at the Lloyd Veterinary Teaching Hospital at Iowa State University, where she underwent extensive testing, including bloodwork, x-rays, and a CT scan. No clear cause was found for her paralysis, but that didn’t stop her team. She was transferred to the hospital’s physical therapy department, where she worked hard on an underwater treadmill. Thanks to her determination (and a lot of tail wags), Sloopy is now running again! She happily explores the yard with the other dogs in her foster home, gaining strength every day—though she still favors her left back leg a bit. In addition to her mobility journey, Sloopy had a dental procedure (with two extractions) and surgery to remove a mammary tumor. The tumor was diagnosed as a low-grade adenocarcinoma, fully excised with clean margins—great news for her long-term health. Sloopy is now searching for a calm, loving home—ideally one without many stairs—where she can bask in the sun and be near her people. She’s especially fond of her foster dad, trailing behind him like a loyal shadow and serenading him with joyful howls when he comes home from work. Sloopy’s gentle spirit, resilience, and affectionate nature make her a truly special dog. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a story of hope, Sloopy might just be your perfect match. Sloopy is house trained, spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and heartworm tested. If you would like to meet Sloopy, please complete the adoption application on our website: www.furfunrescue.org. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Our sweet girl, Millie was relinquished into our care due to her owner's declining health and it being more difficult to continue proper care for her. Millie has previously lived with a cat - her previous family said she did well with the cat in the home. She is currently spending time in one of our foster homes - this is a great opportunity where we are able to learn more about Millie. Her current foster mom says Millie does great with her dog - Millie seems to enjoy having another dog of alike mannerisms as Millie is still quite young and playful. We think she would thrive in a home with another dog to bond with. Millie has been doing well with her foster's indoor/outdoors cats as well. She enjoys sleeping in bed and is a great sleeper at night - she has always had her person/people or another dog around (at her foster's home), so she is definitely used to having company. Her previous owner's did mention they would only kennel Millie when they were not at home. Being a young gal, with the very familiar Beagle nose - Millie would do best in a home with a fenced-in yard. She loves exploring outside in her yard and with a fenced-in area, this would continue to allow her the ability to explore in a safe manner in case her nose gets ahead of her too far! Millie is such a sweet, well socialized girl. We know the next best, forever home is just waiting for her! She is all up-to-date on her vaccinations, was previously spayed, and has been started on monthly flea/tick & Heartworm preventatives. She is more than ready to find her perfect forever home - one to call her own for the many years to come!If you're interested in adopting Millie, please complete an online adoption application found on our website at www.wesavepets.com. Once the application has been received, a Safe Haven volunteer will be in contact to discuss the next steps.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 4, 2025, 4:10 pm

Story
Dolce girl! She's such a docile, sweet girl- and loves finding people to give all of her love to, the second she loves you, she's your shadow! Her love, truly makes anything worth it, as there's no doubt she's a velcro-pup at heart, and knows exactly how to show it! With all of the kisses, cuddles, and lovin's to give, Dolce will make an amazing addition to just about any home! While we are showing her the ropes of what love is all about, she's taking to it like a champ! As of lately, she's become quite the little social butterfly! As she greets visitors with a sniff, and a tail wag- even sitting at their feet and not jumping all around like most 4 month old pups, luckily she's only about 7 pounds anyway! All she's looking for are her very own humans that will do what they can to make her feel safe. Romping with other dogs is one of her favorite activities, but snuggling comes right on top! Chin and ear scratches are top tier to this darling, who will make dog ownership a true breeze. She is crate-trained, and a TRUE joy to be around!
