Story
Meet Malia, a spirited and intelligent Beagle mix who’s been at Helping Paws since she was just a couple of weeks old. She was adopted for a brief time, but her family soon realized they weren’t quite ready for her playful energy and brought her back. When Malia first returned, she was a bit timid and shy, and she may still come across that way when meeting potential adopters in the quieter meet-and-greet rooms. Don’t let that initial shyness fool you—outside of those rooms, Malia is a total social butterfly!Malia absolutely adores her doggie friends and human pals. She’s a little protective, so if she sees someone unfamiliar on the street, her hackles might go up, and her big-girl bark might come out—but it’s just her way of keeping an eye out for those she loves. Her favorite activity at the shelter is running and playing in the yard, where her energetic personality truly shines. She also enjoys her treat puzzles, which keep her sharp mind engaged and busy.Malia walks well on a leash, although she can’t resist a bit of pulling when there are people or other dogs around—she’s simply eager to meet them! If you’re looking for a smart, active, and loyal companion, contact Helping Paws to meet Malia. This strong-willed girl is ready for a family who can match her playful energy and give her a forever home. D.O.B: 4-4-24Mom: KahlaniSiblings: Lahna, Lailani, Kawaii, Mahalla, Kai, Kane

Story
Meet Rusty! Age: Senior Weight: 40 lbs Breed: Beagle mix Good with: dogs and kids (also goats and chickens!) House trained: Yes Rusty is a happy, friendly pup who is looking for a forever home where he can be loved and where there’s yummy smells (typical Beagle 🙂 ). Rusty loves meeting new people and is dog and kid friendly, this silly boy is up for anything! He enjoys tagging along on car rides, spending lots of time napping in a cozy spot and following his nose! He is a sweet, tolerant pup who is just happy to be near his people Rusty enjoys going on walks, but would also benefit from a yard if you have one. Any opportunity to go on a sniffari is time well spent, according to Rusty. As a senior dog, Rusty isn’t immune to some age related concerns. He previously had a mass removed from his abdomen before he was an ADL dog and while it doesn’t cause him discomfort, it’s something to monitor in the future. This does not slow him down one bit and he’s still happy to be your travel buddy! Rusty is a well mannered pup who is incredibly food motivated. He’s happy to show off some commands and would appreciate any treats that come his way. He’s the perfect mix of eager side kick and happy lounger. He is a laid back pup who enjoys the simple things in life and is hoping to be a cherished family member (and taste tester), does this sound like a good fit for you? Story
Sydney is a Mama dog that is about 1 year old. Her previous owner told the shelter he left her and her 2 day old puppies at, that she is a Beagle/great Pyranese mix. She was not treated well at her previous home and is very human shy. We are working hard, along with her great foster home, to show her what love and care are. Her pups are tri colored and will be available in February. If you have any questions on Mama or pups or would like to make a donation to their care, please contact us.
