Story
Meet Rusty! Age: Senior Weight: 40 lbs Breed: Beagle mix Good with: dogs and kids (also goats and chickens!) House trained: Yes Rusty is a happy, friendly pup who is looking for a forever home where he can be loved and where there’s yummy smells (typical Beagle 🙂 ). Rusty loves meeting new people and is dog and kid friendly, this silly boy is up for anything! He enjoys tagging along on car rides, spending lots of time napping in a cozy spot and following his nose! He is a sweet, tolerant pup who is just happy to be near his people Rusty enjoys going on walks, but would also benefit from a yard if you have one. Any opportunity to go on a sniffari is time well spent, according to Rusty. As a senior dog, Rusty isn’t immune to some age related concerns. He previously had a mass removed from his abdomen before he was an ADL dog and while it doesn’t cause him discomfort, it’s something to monitor in the future. This does not slow him down one bit and he’s still happy to be your travel buddy! Rusty is a well mannered pup who is incredibly food motivated. He’s happy to show off some commands and would appreciate any treats that come his way. He’s the perfect mix of eager side kick and happy lounger. He is a laid back pup who enjoys the simple things in life and is hoping to be a cherished family member (and taste tester), does this sound like a good fit for you? Meet COBI! Breed: Lemon Beagle mix Rescue: Albert’s Dog Lounge Age: Senior Weight: 26 lbs Fun fact: Cobi is a super sweet dog and he recently won the “sweet boy” award at the local doggo Christmas Party. Foster home: Fox Lake, WI Activity level: Low Friendly with: Dogs, cats, kiddos (unsure about kids under 5). I would do best without crazy dogs who will run me over. My legs are sore and that would not be fun for me. Sleep style: Snuggled in a dog bed or on the couch with people to cuddle Meals: canned food and kibble twice a day. Will check everyone else's dishes for crumbs after they are finished eating. A fan of all food, there is nothing he doesn't like Snore-o-meter: 2 Bark-o-meter: 2, rarely barks Shedding meter: 4, short hair, doesn’t shed excessively Fashion: A flannel, because I am a relaxed Sconnie boy now! Signature color: Hunter green~ it reminds me of when I used to explore the great outdoors! Walk out song: Yummy by Justin Bieber because Cobi thinks everything is yum!

Story
Update: Meet Malia, a beautiful Beagle mix who has grown up at Helping Paws after arriving as a tiny puppy just a few weeks old. Having spent her whole life at the shelter, Malia has formed a special bond with a staff member, showing just how loyal and loving she can be once she trusts you. She’s the kind of dog who becomes your shadow, always by your side, ready to be your most devoted companion.Malia is incredibly food- and treat-motivated, which makes training a fun and rewarding experience. She’s a quick learner who enjoys mental challenges like puzzle toys and is always eager to pick up a new skill. She walks beautifully on a leash (most of the time) and absolutely loves her daily walks, but like many dogs who have grown up in a shelter, she’ll need a little help with potty training once she’s in a home environment.Though Malia can be a bit wary of strangers at first, her cautiousness comes from her desire to protect her people. That said, she wouldn’t hurt a fly she just needs a moment to assess new situations and feel safe. With patience and love, she’ll warm up and show you her sweet, goofy side.Malia is waiting for a forever family to give her the home she’s never had a place where she can truly shine as the loyal, intelligent, and loving dog she was always meant to be.Meet Malia, a spirited and intelligent Beagle mix who’s been at Helping Paws since she was just a couple of weeks old. She was adopted for a brief time, but her family soon realized they weren’t quite ready for her playful energy and brought her back. When Malia first returned, she was a bit timid and shy, and she may still come across that way when meeting potential adopters in the quieter meet-and-greet rooms. Don’t let that initial shyness fool you—outside of those rooms, Malia is a total social butterfly!Malia absolutely adores her doggie friends and human pals. She’s a little protective, so if she sees someone unfamiliar on the street, her hackles might go up, and her big-girl bark might come out—but it’s just her way of keeping an eye out for those she loves. Her favorite activity at the shelter is running and playing in the yard, where her energetic personality truly shines. She also enjoys her treat puzzles, which keep her sharp mind engaged and busy.Malia walks well on a leash, although she can’t resist a bit of pulling when there are people or other dogs around—she’s simply eager to meet them!
