Story
Meet Albert, the pup with the incredible ears—and an even more incredible personality! At 1.5 years old and 33 pounds, this Boxer mix is the definition of a best friend. Albert is a cuddly, loving companion who wants nothing more than to be by your side. He’s playful and full of life, always ready for tug-of-war, chasing tennis balls, munching sticks, or running laps around the yard. With his big heart and boundless energy, Albert will make a fun and active addition to a lucky forever home. Albert spent much of his first year in a shelter, but since joining his foster family he’s blossomed. He’s learning basic doggy manners, sleeps well in his crate, and is making steady progress with potty training. He’s smart, attentive, and eager to please—picking up new commands quickly. This sweet boy would do best in a home with a fully fenced yard in a calm neighborhood, where he can play safely and build confidence. He loves other dogs and would enjoy a canine friend, and because of his energy level, a home with children 10 and older is ideal. Story
Have you ever heard the phrase, “To know a beagle is to love a beagle,” but realized you’ve never actually met one? Well, lucky you—here I am, the sweetest beagle around, and I just so happen to be looking for my forever home! My name is Laia, and I’m two years old. I absolutely love being around other dogs and would make a wonderful companion for any canine friends you already have. I’m okay with cats, too—though between you and me, they’re not quite as fun as dogs, but I won’t bother them. I’m looking for someone who understands my breed and is willing to be patient and gentle with me. I’ve had a tough start and carry some fear-based behaviors, so I’ll need your help learning that the world doesn’t have to be so scary. Loud noises and sudden movements are especially frightening for me, so I’d really prefer a calm, quiet home with soft voices and predictable routines. I’ll also need to stay leashed outdoors until I’m no longer a flight risk—and I do need to be adopted into a home with a fenced in yar I may be timid at first. It will take time for me to believe that you’re truly here to love and protect me—but once I do, I will blossom. I can be incredibly snuggly and affectionate with the people I trust, and I have so much love to give. Just a little praise means the world to me, so don’t hold back on the compliments! I promise I’m worth the wait. With patience and kindness, I’ll show you just how special a beagle’s love can be.   If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Story
Meatball is a six-year-old beagle mix who currently weighs forty-four pounds. Like a lot of us, he's trying to shed a few of those pounds. I'm not sure what he's mixed with, maybe some type of shepherd? We all know that the mystery mutts are the best. Meatball is as sweet and silly as his name suggests. He was found as a stray in southern Indiana, and quickly became a favorite at the shelter he was at. He recently made the trip up to be a part of Rover Rescue, and would love to find a family of his own for Christmas. Meatball is learning how to be a suburban dog. I'm not sure if he's spent a lot of time in the house, but he appears to be housebroken. He was recently neutered and still has a tendency to want to mark some things that hopefully will subside soon. Meatball is very playful and would be great with another dog that likes to play or with some kids. He enjoys toys and bones. He'd love to have a backyard to run around in as well as to have someone take him for walks. Meatball is looking for a person or family to help him become the bestest boy he can be. He'll be a wonderful new friend! If you'd like to hear more about Meatball, please call Teri. *This dog is being fostered in Cary, IL. If you would like to meet this dog, please call Teri at 630-897-7454. The adoption fee is $275. Adoption fee includes: - microchip - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive - deworming
