He loves being your shadow and being everywhere you are. He enjoys scratches, comfy pillows, and keeping watch out the windows. Leash walking and potty training is a work in progress complicated by prednisone. Rusty came to our rescue with a severe skin infection. It is cleared up now and his fur is growing back nicely. He likes having another dog around and has been tested with cats. Home with young children are not recommended since he has sensitive spots and paws. You can see how much he has changed from his photos – he came to TBBR with an injured leg, itchy skin, and no fur on his tail or nose. He has transformed into a very handsome guy! Wilson loves to walk and has good energy for an older guy – he loves a good squeaky toy and will bring it back to you time and time again. It’s clear he has not had a lot of love in his life, so he will follow you everywhere. He needs at least two walks a day to help him with his anxiety. He also loves riding in the CAR! He will curl up next to you in the evenings on the couch and will sleep quietly on a dog bed at night. Wilson has just completed a training camp and he is doing much better with his reactivity around other dogs. He is food motivated and eager to please; he will sit nicely for a treat and “shake” his paw. He would prefer to be an only dog but could be placed with a female dog if you are willing to work with him. He also needs a household without small children as he can get a little grumpy if you touch his leg in the wrong spot. He has not been tested around cats but does not seem bothered by them. Almost every single day either Duke's foster mom or foster dad says, 'Duke is a really good dog!' - because he is! Please be sure to check out the video clip below. He is a well behaved, good looking fellow. Duke has been in his foster home for several months now and his disposition has been exemplary. Although he is definitely into lizards and squirrels his recall is amazingly good and he will run to you and sit down right in front of you. Most often he has a happy grin on his face. He also crates very well as long as there's a promise of at least a small treat for him when he goes in. His crate is where he has his meals and sleeps at night. House training has been excellent from day one. Duke is moderate energy but really needs a fenced yard and he could jump a 4 ft fence easily. He does like to run but also enjoys just lying about surveying his property and watching for the squirrels and lizards! He loves affection and, although he doesn't pester or beg for it, he's ready anytime you are! Duke is wonderful at just curling up next to you on the couch, content to be at your side. He loves to be outside smelling everything and does have a beautiful beagle bay when on a scent. He's very obedient though, so his foster mom lets him do his thing for a bit and then brings him inside. Kris loves mealtime but has no issues with sharing his bowl! He's very good with other dogs. He sleeps on the sofa, in a lounge chair or in a dog bed - wherever, and he doesn't mind if another houndie wants to share his space. Kris has also begun to take an interest in squeaky toys. He will run around with them in his mouth and then take them all outside. :) Kris came to us in mid April from a wonderful rescue organization in Mississippi. He is estimated to be about 14 years old but his activity level is perfect for his age - moderate with plenty of time to relax and smell the roses. He is positive for heartworms but the advice of more than one veterinarian is not to treat. He can be a little shy in the beginning but once he warms up he is super affectionate and makes a definite connection with his humans. He loves to play with other dogs but can can be awkward if they are not friendly to him. He is becoming more socially experienced because his foster parents pet-sit and Andy has the opportunity to meet many other dogs. Andy is still pretty young and has a moderately high energy level. He has great house manners, gets extremely high marks with potty training and is really cool about staying in a crate when needed. Currently in his foster home he eats his meals and sleeps at night in his crate in the bedroom but he is not left alone for very long as the family is retired. Andy was heartworm positive but completeld his treatment back in July. She loves to play with her toys, kids, adults, and with other dogs. But when she’s done playing, all she wants to do is snuggle and give kisses. She’s been having a great time with the backyard at her foster home, going in and out the doggie door, chasing lizards, and running around with her 5-year-old foster brother. Chalupa is mostly housebroken and hasn’t had an accident in the house since she first arrived in Florida (November 26th). Though she enjoys romping with the other canines, she is uncertain at first and needs slow careful introductions and patience from her new family. She only barks when she plays or when the food comes out. Chalupa has been sleeping in her crate and is quite content in there at night, and during the day when the humans are away. Pippy probably spent much of her entire life along with Nichole (also on our website) in an outdoor, elevated box where they were kept until a few times a year they were let out to hunt. Pippy loves to be outdoors and learned quite quickly how to use the dog door in her foster home. She's made straight A's in house training. She will spend her mornings trotting around the yard, sniffing to her heart's content. Around noonish she's ready to nap for the afternoon. Pippi has no problem being in a crate and will often choose to nap there if the door is open. She is very friendly with other dogs and would probably play if one would play back gently. If they are too rough she will skitter away. She's very quiet and gentle, loves to be paid attention to ...once she's sure that kindness is your intention. As soon as you stop loving on her she will scamper about in a happy dance that will make you laugh! She has a LOT more energy than you would expect for her estimated age. Pippi's heart has suffered a bit from the heartworms, the medication she's been on has helped and we were able to move forward with a much needed dental. She is feeling so much better!
