Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $700   Mac and Cheese is a 4 month old Beagle mix who is as comforting as a bowl of Annie’s Mac after a long day! Mac was rescued from the shelter with a bunch of his “comfort food” pals when they reached out for assistance due to a lack of space. This handsome boy currently weighs around 5 pounds and as he grows up, we expect he will end up around 10-12 pounds. Come serve yourself a delicious bowl of Mac and Cheese today!      Mac is an affectionate, energetic, and outgoing puppy who is absolutely as perfect as can be. He loves giving kisses and getting snuggles from his humans and is the perfect size for cuddles. Mac is a goofy dude who loves playing with any toy, especially the cat’s toys! He is super active and zooms around the house showing off his hops. Once he gets older he would love to join his forever family on all the adventures they have planned. Mac adores his foster mom and follows her around like a little adorable shadow whenever she is home. Mac would love a huge backyard in his forever home so he can show off his zoomies and hops. He would be an amazing addition to just about any loving family. Mac is also super smart and has already started learning some tricks. His fosters have done an amazing job setting him up for success when he transitions to his forever home.  Mac wakes up around 7 AM and heads out to potty. He plays for about 30 minutes and then eats his breakfast. During the day, Mac keeps himself occupied with his toys and lots of naps. He has a snack around 1 PM and then naps until everyone is home from the workday. He has dinner at 6 PM and then spends the rest of his evening zooming around the house, playing with his toys, and getting all the cuddles! He starts to wind down around 8 PM and heads to his crate for the night around 9 PM.  Mac has lived with dogs in the past and is very social with them. He lives with two cats. He loves all humans and makes friends wherever he goes. Interested homes should be prepared to continue his training and socialization. This fearless pup can’t wait to crash into your life and change it for the best!       Mac is an option for homes who have owned a dog of their own in the last 5 years. Kids should be over the age of 7.January 27, 2025, 8:37 pm

Shepherd’s Pie, or Shep as we like to call him, is a perfect 30-pound bundle of joy, charm, and playful energy. At three years old, he’s got just the right mix of youthful enthusiasm and well-mannered maturity, making him an ideal companion for just about any home. Shep was rescued from a high-kill shelter, but you’d never know it from his sunny disposition—this boy lives every day like it’s the best day ever! A Day in the Life of Shep Mornings with Shep begin with soft little sounds from his crate around 7:45 AM, letting us know he’s awake and ready for the day. He patiently waits to be let out before greeting his humans with full-body wiggles, tail wags, and happy kisses. After a quick potty break in the yard, he enjoys breakfast side by side with his 55-pound American Bully foster sister—both eating respectfully and sometimes sneaking glances at each other’s bowls. Once breakfast is done, he’s off for a second potty break and then playtime, either with his foster sister, his beloved chew toys, or by zooming around the backyard. A morning walk is one of Shep’s favorite parts of the day. He runs over eagerly when he sees his harness and leash, knowing it’s time to explore. Shep is curious about everything—he loves sniffing the world, meeting new people, and making friends with other leashed dogs. He doesn’t chase squirrels and has made great strides in his leash manners, improving every day with treats and encouragement. The rest of Shep’s day is a perfect balance of play and relaxation. He rotates between romping in the yard, chewing on his favorite toys, and curling up for cozy naps in the family room. His favorite place to nap? Right next to his people, preferably on a soft blanket on the couch. If he gets a little too enthusiastic during playtime, he’s easily redirected or content to settle down with a good chew toy. He’s learning when to take breaks, and his foster sister is helping him master the art of the well-timed nap. Dinner rolls around at 4:30 PM, and Shep is always ready for it! Evenings are filled with more play, snuggles, and winding down with his humans. By bedtime, he’s happily curled up in his crate, sleeping peacefully until morning. Shep’s Personality: A Big Heart in a Medium-Sized Body From the moment he arrived in his foster home, Shep’s playful and affectionate nature shined through. He was immediately drawn to his foster sister’s toy basket, joyfully pulling out every single neglected treasure as if he’d just discovered the world’s best surprise. His love for play is matched only by his love for people—he adores human company and wants to be wherever the action is. If someone is cooking, he’ll pop in to check on them. If someone moves to another room, he’s likely to follow just to see what’s going on. He’s a social butterfly, always curious and engaged. Shep is also incredibly smart. He already knew “sit,” “shake,” and “down” when he arrived, and he’s quickly learning new commands like “go to your crate.” He pays close attention when you talk to him, often tilting his head in that adorable way that makes it seem like he’s really trying to understand every word. He responds well to both food and play as training rewards, making him a joy to work with. At his core, Shep is a happy, loving dog who thrives on companionship. Whether he’s greeting you with excited wiggles, curling up beside you for a nap, or gazing up at you with his soulful eyes, he makes it impossible not to smile. Shep & Friends: Dogs, People, and Adventures Shep is a social pup who enjoys the company of other dogs. He and his foster sister play well together, and he’s respectful when she needs a break. He’s met other dogs on walks and at a friend’s house, always excited and eager to make new friends. When it comes to people, Shep is an absolute sweetheart. He has happily welcomed friends and family of all ages into his foster home, and he’s always ready to shower his humans with affection. He hasn’t been around young kids yet, but given his gentle and loving nature, he would likely do well with dog-savvy children. Shep has also proven to be a great car companion. Whether he’s crated or riding shotgun, he’s calm and curious, making him a great travel buddy for future adventures. The Perfect Home for Shep Shep would love a home where he can get plenty of playtime, walks, and affection. A house with a backyard would be ideal so he can romp around and get his zoomies out, but he’d also do well in a home where his humans are committed to regular walks and enrichment. He thrives on companionship, so he’d be happiest in a home where someone is around to spend time with him. Shep is looking for a family who will continue to build on the great progress he’s made, helping him grow into an even more confident and well-mannered pup. In return, he promises to fill your home with laughter, love, and plenty of tail wags. If you’re ready for a playful, loving, and endlessly entertaining companion, Shepherd’s Pie is waiting to meet you!Shepherd Pie is an option for a home that has dog experience. If there are children they need to be over the age of 5.February 1, 2025, 1:36 am

Looks like: Terrier, Lab mix Male, 10 years old (estimated), 23 pounds Charming Wilson is a senior dog with a heart as golden as his years. His personality shines with friendliness and a gentle mellow nature that will win you over. He's a bit slow moving and has some vision impairment, but don't let that fool you! This gent can spot a treat from a mile away! He gets along great with other dogs of all shapes and sizes and would enjoy a nice toddle around the house or a safe yard. Wilson joined us from Contra Costa Animal Services. His guardians were homeless and came to realize they could not provide Wilson with the care he needed in his advancing age.

Story
Looks like: Beagle, terrier mix Female, 3 years old (estimated), 25 pounds Francesca is an exotic beauty searching for her forever home. This sweet gal comes from a rough (or shall we say 'ruff') past. She was one of dozens of dogs in her last home so while she is very dog savvy, she isn't as familiar with the outside world. She will need a patient adopter willing to help her explore the world around her at her own speed. This sweet gal has a ton of energy and could use some long walks or even runs in her next home once she gets more familiar with walking on leash. She can be quite bouncy and would be able to jump a short fence so her forever family should mindful of this. Francesca came to us with six other pups who were rescued by Hitchcock Road Animal Services from a hoarding situation.
