At 1 year old, he’s got just the right mix of youthful enthusiasm and well-mannered maturity, making him an ideal companion for just about any home. Shep was rescued from a high-kill shelter, but you’d never know it from his sunny disposition—this boy lives every day like it’s the best day ever! A Day in the Life of Shep Mornings with Shep begin with soft little sounds from his crate around 7:45 AM, letting us know he’s awake and ready for the day. He patiently waits to be let out before greeting his humans with full-body wiggles, tail wags, and happy kisses. After a quick potty break in the yard, he enjoys breakfast side by side with his 55-pound American Bully foster sister—both eating respectfully and sometimes sneaking glances at each other’s bowls. Once breakfast is done, he’s off for a second potty break and then playtime, either with his foster sister, his beloved chew toys, or by zooming around the backyard. A morning walk is one of Shep’s favorite parts of the day. He runs over eagerly when he sees his harness and leash, knowing it’s time to explore. Shep is curious about everything—he loves sniffing the world, meeting new people, and making friends with other leashed dogs. He doesn’t chase squirrels and has made great strides in his leash manners, improving every day with treats and encouragement. The rest of Shep’s day is a perfect balance of play and relaxation. He rotates between romping in the yard, chewing on his favorite toys, and curling up for cozy naps in the family room. His favorite place to nap? Right next to his people, preferably on a soft blanket on the couch. If he gets a little too enthusiastic during playtime, he’s easily redirected or content to settle down with a good chew toy. He’s learning when to take breaks, and his foster sister is helping him master the art of the well-timed nap. Dinner rolls around at 4:30 PM, and Shep is always ready for it! Evenings are filled with more play, snuggles, and winding down with his humans. By bedtime, he’s happily curled up in his crate, sleeping peacefully until morning. Shep’s Personality: A Big Heart in a Medium-Sized Body From the moment he arrived in his foster home, Shep’s playful and affectionate nature shined through. He was immediately drawn to his foster sister’s toy basket, joyfully pulling out every single neglected treasure as if he’d just discovered the world’s best surprise. His love for play is matched only by his love for people—he adores human company and wants to be wherever the action is. If someone is cooking, he’ll pop in to check on them. If someone moves to another room, he’s likely to follow just to see what’s going on. He’s a social butterfly, always curious and engaged. Shep is also incredibly smart. He already knew “sit,” “shake,” and “down” when he arrived, and he’s quickly learning new commands like “go to your crate.” He pays close attention when you talk to him, often tilting his head in that adorable way that makes it seem like he’s really trying to understand every word. He responds well to both food and play as training rewards, making him a joy to work with. At his core, Shep is a happy, loving dog who thrives on companionship. Whether he’s greeting you with excited wiggles, curling up beside you for a nap, or gazing up at you with his soulful eyes, he makes it impossible not to smile. Shep & Friends: Dogs, People, and Adventures Shep is a social pup who enjoys the company of other dogs. He and his foster sister play well together, and he’s respectful when she needs a break. He’s met other dogs on walks and at a friend’s house, always excited and eager to make new friends. When it comes to people, Shep is an absolute sweetheart. He has happily welcomed friends and family of all ages into his foster home, and he’s always ready to shower his humans with affection. He hasn’t been around young kids yet, but given his gentle and loving nature, he would likely do well with dog-savvy children. Shep has also proven to be a great car companion. Whether he’s crated or riding shotgun, he’s calm and curious, making him a great travel buddy for future adventures. The Perfect Home for Shep Shep would love a home where he can get plenty of playtime, walks, and affection. A house with a backyard would be ideal so he can romp around and get his zoomies out, but he’d also do well in a home where his humans are committed to regular walks and enrichment. He thrives on companionship, so he’d be happiest in a home where someone is around to spend time with him. Shep is looking for a family who will continue to build on the great progress he’s made, helping him grow into an even more confident and well-mannered pup. In return, he promises to fill your home with laughter, love, and plenty of tail wags. If you’re ready for a playful, loving, and endlessly entertaining companion, Shepherd’s Pie is waiting to meet you!Shepherd Pie is an option for a home that has dog experience. If there are children they need to be over the age of 5.February 11, 2025, 5:24 pm

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $600 Meet Peter Pan, the 5-6 month old Beagle Italian Greyhound mix with a heart of gold and a playful spirit! This unique pup boasts a charming Beagle-like face paired with the sleek, long legs of an Italian Greyhound, making him quite the head-turner.   Peter Pan is shy when he first meets new people, but he's incredibly food-motivated and a big fan of treats, which means he'll warm up to you quickly. It usually takes him about 24 hours to settle, and once he is comfortable with you, he's a love!   Peter Pan wakes up around 7 am and sleeps in a crate in the bedroom. When he first goes into the crate, he complains a little, but he calms down and dozes off and then sleeps through the night. If his foster mom is working from home, she sets him up in a playpen to hang out and play with his toys while she works.   This youngster loves other dogs and is incredibly playful. He would thrive in a home with another playful dog who can show him the ropes of being a confident and well-socialized canine! He is still learning how to play respectfully (think 'play nibbling'), and a confident dog will help show him 'how to dog.'   When Peter Pan first arrived in our rescue, he was very fearful and anxious. However, within 24 hours in foster, he showed his true nature: very sweet, very cuddly and snuggly. He wants to be near his human. He is definitely a Velcro dog, he follows foster mama around the house. Peter Pan has tried very hard to win over the senior dog in his foster home, but she's not interested in playing with this bouncy boy! Poor Peter. He backs off respectfully when she tells him to, but he would really love a pup in the home who will engage with him. When he settles down, he becomes the ultimate lap dog, snuggling up on your stomach for a nap!   Peter Pan is very curious and food motivated. He knows “sit” and “touch” commands. However, his walks are still a work in progress. He can be afraid of the big world and may shake when passing new humans.   Despite his shyness and some quirks, Peter Pan has many wonderful qualities. He is a master of self-entertainment! If he's not getting attention, he'll happily toss toys around and catch them, providing endless amusement.   If you have the patience, love, and experience to help Peter Pan blossom into a confident and well-adjusted dog, he will reward you with endless affection, playful antics, and unwavering loyalty. Are you ready to give this sweet and unique pup his happily ever after?   Peter Pan is only an option for a home that has owned a dog in the last 5 years and is prepared to work with him on coming out of his shell. Prior shy dog experience is ideal. A home with a playful dog would also be great! He is only an option for kids 10+, as younger ones will be too scary for him.February 16, 2025, 10:11 am

Story
Travis is a lovable dog who loves people more than anything in the world (besides food, of course). If you take him to the dog park, he is most interested in greeting other humans! Even though he is 7 years old, he is constantly full of energy. That doesn't mean he doesn't enjoy chilling out and cuddling with you at the end of the day. :) Travis gets anxious when he is home alone and needs someone who is willing to make him part of their life. Though he gets along with most people, he is happiest in a home (not apartment) with 1 or no dogs and older children. We are devastated to have to rehome Travis, but ultimately need to find him an environment where he will be the happiest.

He is ok about other dogs and we prefer a family with no other dogs. He loves the attention from people and is an extremely people friendly person. He is very good motivated and loves his peanut butter. He is a little anxious around infants and toddlers but does well with older kids.
