Story
Daisy is an adorable Lemon Beagle/Bassett Mix who is looking for her furever home with someone who will spoil her rotten. She has a nice balance of energy, loves hiking and walking and sometimes gets the zoomies, but also enjoys curling up in a sunny patch and snoozing for hours. She currently lives with 3 smaller dogs, but acts somewhat fearful of other dogs when out on a walk. She will initiate play with the dogs she knows, but considers all toys to be hers and does not share.Daisy currently has valley fever, but has responded well to meds. She is very sweet and endearing and a joy to be around.

Story
Pecosa means “freckled” in Spanish, and we can clearly see how this sweet girl got her name! She has a perfect spattering of freckles across her sweet nose! Here’s what one volunteer said:“Pecosa was shy but easy to leash up in her kennel. She stuck by her buddy’s side as we exited the kennel and in the play yard. She was cautious at first but warmed up over our time together. She went from taking treats off of the bench to taking them out of my hand. Pecosa came over for “drive-by” treats; taking a treat, then walking away, coming back again and again. She went potty and explored the play yard. After about 15 minutes together in the yard, as I was sitting on the ground, she came up to me with her kennelmate and they let me pet and snuggle them simultaneously for our last few minutes together! Pecosa finds comfort and courage being with her kennelmate and will probably thrive in a home with a confident, friendly dog to show her the ropes! I can tell that Pecosa will make a lovely family pet; she is just nervous in the scary shelter and will need some patient TLC to help her settle into a new home.” Pecosa shares her kennel politely and has been social and tolerant when meeting other dogs in playgroup. If you`re looking for an adorable, sweet and sensitive pup to join your family, come meet Pecosa today!

Story
Peita means “to paint” in Maori, an indigenous language of New Zealand. We can see how this sweet girl got her name- she looks like someone took a paint palette with lovely shades of brown and swiped their brush up and down her white body! She is beautiful! When Peita first came into the shelter, she was noted to be easy to handle, friendly, easy to leash, and a good walker. One of our volunteers fell in love with her recently and shared the following:“Peita was timid but easy to leash up in her kennel. She stuck by her buddy’s side as we exited the kennel and in the play yard. She was cautious at first, but warmed up over our time together. She went from taking treats off of the bench to taking them out of my hand. After gently taking a treat from my hand, Peita allowed me to softly scratch her chin as she stood by my side. I was sitting on the ground and she was content to stand by me as I scratched and pet her. After a little while she went potty and explored the play yard. After about 15 minutes together in the yard, she came up to me with her kennelmate and they let me pet and snuggle them simultaneously for our last few minutes together! Peita finds comfort and courage being with her kennelmate and will probably thrive in a home with a confident, friendly dog to show her the ropes! I can tell that Peita will make a lovely family pet; she is just nervous in the scary shelter and will need some patient TLC to help her settle into a new home.” Peita shares her kennel politely and has been tolerant and social when meeting other dogs in playgroup, needing just a bit of time to warm up. If you’re looking for a sweet pup to paint your life with many shades of love, come meet Peita today!

Story
Tika is a sweet 5-yr. old girl with a lot of puppy energy. She is VERY inquisitive and is forever exploring, like a true hunting dog. Her exploring includes being able to stretch to get into things she can reach on tables and counter tops. She has the potential to be an escape artist, so a MINIMUM 6ft. BLOCK WALL is REQUIRED. We are also looking to adopt her within a 50 mile radius of Central Tucson. SoAZBR does a home visit on all applicants. She needs an owner that will take her on at least 2-3 walks daily AND have another active dog to play with, due to her HIGH energy. She is good with other dogs but NO CATS. Children in the family should be at least 8 yrs. old as she is very strong and would knock over a toddler. She loves to ride in a car and is good on a leash. She is ok in a crate but does have some separation anxiety so she should not be crated more than 2-3 hours. If she is left unattended for long she does like to get into anything her nose leads her to. She needs a doggie door so she can go in and out and explore, so she doesn’t get bored. Tika has had Valley Fever for a year and will likely stay on daily medication for at least another year or more. Her owner will be required to provide her daily meds and take her to regular vet visits to get bloodwork and Valley Fever levels checked.

Story
EVE Eve is a small sweet Puggle (pug and beagle) the vet estimates is 6 yrs. old and is 22 pounds with long legs. She's a lovebug and wants to cuddle with a person on a couch/chair and in bed. She knows how to use a dog door and has had no inside accidents. She has a lot of play energy and needs a home where she will be walked a minimum of 1-2 times a day. She also needs another dog to play with and a back yard to run in. Eve can jump high and a minimum 5ft. wall all the way around is required. She is also a digger. Fencing must have a footer so she doesn't dig her way under. Children in the home should be at least 6 yrs. or older, due to her energy. Her favorite thing to do is lay in the back yard, waiting to stalk squirrels. We aren't sure if she is cat friendly. She is not happy being in a crate. We are looking to adopt Eve in the Tucson area as she has the potential to be a door dasher. If you are interested in adopting Eve or have any questions about her, please fill out an application on the Southern Arizona Beagle Rescue website. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1SnhudHYFJaPfZyCeKy36-9pbowOVOI-xrX4TIiSIxl4/edit Eve's adoption fee is $250.November 5, 2024, 12:02 pm
