Stumpy is living in a very rural area with a family that asked for help in finding him a new home. He's used to living a family life with children and loves the children. He would be best as an only dog. He's a mixed dog but a popular mix, called a Bassador. The Bassador temperament can vary a lot depending on whether they take after their Lab or Basset Hound parent more. Generally, they are sociable and loving. We are fortunate to know how Stumpy has done, living with a family. Bassadors love attention, especially from their favorite person. If you want a dog with a very unique look who’s loyal to a fault, the Bassador could be the dog for you! Stumpy's adoption fee is $350 to help cover the medical costs of getting ready for adoption. This pup was born to a basset hound lab mix mom. She was born 7-1-22. This pup is shy at first. She warms up great though. This pup likes cats and loves other dogs. We have started crate training and potty training. This pup will go home current on vaccines and preventives and microchipped. Rowley is a true cuddle-bug. While he has a bit of a mischievous streak, none of that matters when he snuggles in next to you. Or on you. Your heart will become a glorious warm puddle in your chest. He is beautifully socialized and pretty much bomb proof. His mischief includes mostly trying to steal food from the table, knocking over trash cans and squirreling his toys (and others’ toys) in his crate. He’s tall enough to look on the counter, but not tall enough to get more than a sniff. (If there’s a chair nearby, though, he is not afraid of scaling heights to get to the plate of french fries you’ve foolishly left on the counter!) He doesn’t chew anything inappropriate and has been sleeping happily all night curled up next to his foster mom on her bed. He is a strong dog who needs someone who can keep hold of his leash on walks, since he pulls to explore all the smells. He gets along with other dogs, but might be happiest as an only dog, because then he’ll get all the attention. He will bark at noises outside, but is happy to meet new people. He’ll be a great addition to any family. He's a good boy that likes to be active. He was lacking in confidence and social skills. He has been in training for several months now and has done a great job ! He has learned to politely play with other dogs and make friends with many humans . Butchey walks well on a leash and does well out in public. A dog savvy household will be best for him. Continued training would be a plus. He can be in a home with other dogs. However we believe Butchey would do best in a home with an older, mature, stable, female canine. We want him to maintain his newly acquired skills. If allowed, he can become overly attached to his human. Butchey's currently still in a boarding / training facility due to a lack of fosters in rescue. He will require a physical fence. This is not negotiable. He has a unique old boy dog type of attitude. Yet, I did say boy so at any given time he might a burst of energy, which is fun to watch. He loves hiking and sniffing everything. Wrangler is his name but sleeping is his game. He is Beagle Mix 9.5 years old perhaps even 10 by now. Adopted him from RAWL- Rappahanock Animal Welfare League almost 10 years ago. He is friendly with other dogs yet quite submissive with dominating dogs. He gets along with many other animals and warms up to humans and he's okay with older children as long as they are not too high energy, such as the little munchkins, which he is not keen on. He never had any issues with his pet sitters while we were on vacation. Actually, all of them wanted him and loved him because he doesn't bark and because of his quiet-warm personality. He is neutered and is up to date with his vaccines. He is typically okay to be left alone for about 1-4 hrs. more than that he gets anxious. He is house trained but needs 2-3 potty time.
