Meet Anita!Anita is a precious 3 month old Bassett Hound mix who inherited all the fun Bassett traits, without ears so long they trip the her! Her mother is likely a pure Bassett hound; dad is unknown and not paying any child support. Besides having the most precious eyes and expressions, Anita is playful, smart as can be, responsive to directions, and a hunter. Due to hound vocal abilities (which are not displayed often, but were displayed during crate training), Anita would be best suited in a home instead of an apartment. This two year old Bassett/terrier mix is so stinking cute you just want to take him home to love. He is such a sweet and good natured doggie. Slinky is a gorgeous blue and white color and sits low to the ground like a Bassett Hound and his paws point outwards when he walks. He is super friendly with everyone he meets. He came in with another dog, Henry, so it appears he may do well with other dogs. His smile is infectious, so be prepared to smile when you meet him. She is back with the foster who pulled her fro Dallas Animal Services in late 2022. The adopter reported instances of aggression and resource guarding, but she has been on her best behavior since arriving back in Dallas. We had her evaluated by a trainer, who reports that she is a dominant personality who needs consistent reinforcement of her place in the hierarchy. The foster reports that she is smart and knows basic commands. She can be pushy, but takes correction well. She is high energy, loves to play with the other dogs in the household and is very affectionate. She is leash trained, crate trained and housebroken, up to date on shots and heart worm negative. She will do well with an experienced owner and the rescue will include a session with the trainer to teach the new owner techniques for avoiding issues. He is the perfect size, only 17lbs at 2 years old and the best snuggler. He loves all dogs, cats and humans! He has some separation anxiety, so will need a patient person to help him work through that. He also needs a secure yard as he can be a Houdini! He loves walks through the neighborhood or on the trails!As long as his person is close by, he is a happy camper and loves to snooze on the couch or at your feet. He’s learning to potty outside and is doing a great job of letting me know when he needs to go out. It’s obvious his start to life was rough, and he deserves to be loved for the rest of his days!
