Story
Rebel's Background: We found Rebel through an online source that found him and his 8 brothers & sisters abandoned by their owners. No information was given about the parents of Rebel, but we felt a call to rescue him. After quite a few visits to the vet for vaccinations, the vet was confident that he was mixed Basset & Jack Russel. He is officially recorded as a Basset Mix. Rebel is a great dog that always loves to play. He constantly tries to play with our potatoe-like pitbull Hazel, but she often doesn't have the energy or the will to keep up with Rebel. Due to our busy schedule with work and taking care of three kids 5 and under, we feel like Rebel isn't getting the attention or the love that he needs. We have to keep him outside where he can run to his heart's content or we have to lock him in the bonus room to keep him from running laps around our feet and/or rough housing with our other dog. We want Rebel to go to a good home where he can get the love and attention he needs.

Story
York seems to be a very special guy. He will bond to his people very quickly, he is shy around men and takes a little time to warm up. He must have had bad things happen in his past, poor pup. He adores attention and snuggles from his people and is really an all around GOOD BOY! York would do best with kis over 12, since fast movements from younger ones make him a bit jumpy. Who knows what his past was like. York enjoys romps with some dogs but prefers to have all the attention.

Story
Floyd is one of the #dogsindanger at Habersham County Animal Shelter. Floyd is 4-5 years old, 35 pounds and has been fixed. We have not yet heartworm tested him because he hates needles and manifests a demon when anyone tries to restrain him. He also has a part time gig with David Cooperfield and can escape any muzzle by the time the curtain rises. For the last 3 months we’ve watch people inquire about him due to his perfect size and unique looks- but then meet him and go running for the hills Floyd was called in as a stray. He was were told Floyd had “just shown up” and they had “no clue where he came from”. Floyd had a collar and tags. The collar and tags belonged to family of his “finder”. But nobody had seen him ever before Of course the phone number was disconnected. Searching names brought us to an address of where a camper used to be. Floyd is kind of a cactus. A bit prickly. But I like him. We have an understanding. Floyd would make a great dog for someone who isn’t really a cuddly person. He likes walks and enjoys respectful older children. He gets a little frisky pounce every now and then. He CAN play with other doggies if they’re submissive - and I think going forward we can make more friends. He does better with one on one dog interactions than playgroup - but he wants his space. I get it. Floyd doesn’t like being loved on much- UNLESS its belly rubs that he asks for.   If you can save Floyd ;Habersham County Animal Shelter Clarkesville GA 30523 706-839-0195Mnix@habershamga.comDecember 13, 2024, 8:23 pm

Story
Hi, I’m Michelle. I lived most of my life as an outside dog on a chain. I had a litter of pups sometime recently and I am only about 2 years old. One day, I broke free from my chain and came to my foster Mom’s house. She took me in and let me live with my foster siblings. My owners decided not to take me back and that made me happy, because I love my new life. My foster Mom worked with the local shelter to have me fixed, chipped, and vaccinated. I am ready for adoption and looking for a home by Christmas. Things that make me special are I am very aware of emotions and like to comfort my Mom and other dogs when they are sad. Even though I’m young, I am very relaxed and enjoy sitting anytime my humans are relaxing. I am a sensitive girl and love to please my owners, so I learn easily and am obedient. I love other dogs and love to play with them, but I love humans more and would be okay as an only dog too. All I want is to be loved and snuggled. I don’t even beg for food!
