Story
At one year of age, Josie has matured into a fun and independent, medium-sized, mixed breed dog. Her markings remind us of a shepherd, but her legs and body length are more like a basset hound. Josie’s months as a puppy had some rough patches behaviorally, but she started to turn the corner after landing in foster care with a professional dog trainer. She is funny, playful, outgoing and knows several commands. Josie loves to run laps in the yard, is reliable with her house training, walks well on a leash and willingly sleeps in her kennel most nights. Josie likes other dogs, but we’re still recommending her as an only pet, preferably with no small children. She loves to chew on Nyla bones and needs a home that will provide structure and consistency. Suggested adoption donation: $300.  Adoption form available at nebraskanokill.org   October 21, 2024, 12:18 am

Story
Hey I’m Gail! I'm a very pretty beagle mix currently available for adoption. First introductions are not a strength of mine but once I settle in and have a minute to get to know you I am the sweetest little thing you’ll ever meet. I am kennel trained and working on potty training. I just get really excited!  I love to play with my foster humans and their dogs, and even their cat! My ideal home would have a fenced yard for me to romp around in and another dog for me to play with. I’m an introvert at heart and am looking for a home ready to love me as hard as I’ll love them.  Gail is a year old and 35lbs.   To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $200 donation is requested at the time of adoption. All of our adoptions are contingent upon an approved application, home visit, reference check, obedience training agreement, and signing of adoption contract. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption. Our dogs are companion animals that live indoors as part of your family. Please do not apply if your plan is to have them as outside dogs, garage dogs, porch dogs or outside kennel dogs.  We do not ship dogs.   All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try to email first. We are all volunteers that work so we can not easily take or make phone calls.November 10, 2024, 8:14 pm

Story
We adopted Blondie with her sister Winnie in early July. We heard that her owner died, and she and her sister were up for adoption. We were told that she was good with kids, cats, dogs, etc. She isn't good with kids. When I picked them up they wouldn't come to me. Over time, it has gotten better, but they are terrified of the kids. They need to be in a home with adults. I love them, but we can't keep them. It isn't fair to them or the kids.

Story
We adopted her with her sister Blondie in early July. I was told that their previous owner passed away. The shelter also said that they were good with kids, dogs, cats, etc. She and her sister were very skittish and scared when I picked them up. They wouldn't even come near me. They have warmed up in the last few months, but they haven't warmed to the kids. They need a home with teens or only adults. It isn't fair to keep them in a home where they are constantly stressed.
