Story
AdoptAPet Inquires are not an application and will be ignored. Peanut is a 2 year old Basset Hound who amazes everyone she meets with her surprising athleticism. This girl is definitely not a couch potato. She can jump impressively high and will happily play for hours on end. She loves every new human and dog she meets and is always ready to make new friends. Her absolute favorite activity is playing bitey face and wrestling with her dog buddies, and she could do it all day if given the chance. She can get vocal when excited/playing. She enjoys sitting by the window and supervising the comings and goings of everything and everyone in her sight. Peanut loves going for car rides, walks well on a leash, is crate trained, and is a very smart girl who figures things out quickly, sometimes a little too quickly, as she has been known try to open things and help herself. She is very food motivated and will try to sample everyone else’s meals, so she’ll need a family willing to continue working on boundaries and manners. She also has no concept of personal space and believes she should be in her dog friends’ faces trying to play most of the time. Because she’s so athletic and playful, Peanut needs to be adopted by an active home with another playful dog. She enjoys tug and wrestling with other dogs, though she’s not big on playing with toys by herself and will need active engagement to stimulate her and get her energy out. She does have a prey drive and will chase squirrels. She is not a fan of cats. Peanut would do great in a home that will keep her active, continue her training, and give her lots of love and attention. Adoption radius 60 miles from zip code 20906. Application here: https://tinyurl.com/TLCdogapp We do not promote any of our dogs as house trained or allergy friendly.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out an Adoption Questionnaire athttps://petstablished.com/adoption_form/43315/generic.You can learn about the adoption process by visiting: http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/howtoadopt/.Dog's Name:  Jameson  (JAM0226OWSMN) Estimated Breed:  Basset Hound Mix Approximate Age:  8-9 yearsApproximate Weight: 55 lbsCurrently Living at:  FosterAdoption Fee:  $300DOG'S DESCRIPTION:  Meet Jameson — an 8-year-young senior sweetheart who has officially mastered the fine art of relaxation.      Jameson is the definition of a couch potato with a heart of gold. He’s not here for chaos, drama, or cardio… but he is here for cozy naps, quiet companionship, and being your loyal shadow around the house. If you’ve been dreaming of a dog who’s happiest lounging beside you, Jameson is ready to apply for the position of full-time best friend. This sweet guy is crate trained, house trained, and also semi-stimulus collar trained. He’s lived the good life before and is looking for a calm, loving home to enjoy his golden years.     Jameson can get along with other dogs, though he hasn’t been introduced to new dog friends in a while. He’d likely do best with slow, respectful introductions. He’s not the type to demand the dog park lifestyle, but he’d be willing to go if it meant spending time with his person.     Jameson does have a sensitive side — he has a low tolerance for loud noises and fast movements, such as remote-control toys or running children. He also can be wary around unfamiliar men, like handymen or first-time visitors, so he’ll need a patient adopter who understands that trust takes time and love. Jameson would thrive in a quiet adult home (or a home with older, respectful kids) where life is peaceful and predictable.     If you’re someone with a soft spot for seniors and a heart big enough to offer comfort, stability, and love, Jameson will repay you with unconditional love, loyalty, and companionship. Apply today and don't let this one get away! Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. Story
Mr Personality here! 😎 I am an adorable happy guy with good looks and dazzling eyes! I am front and center and greet everyone happily! I was dropped on a country road and promptly walked a half mile of a gravel driveway to scratch on their door and told them to let me in! I am a fun, loving guy with so much zest for a good time! I am not the protective dachshund, I am the Playboy Bassett! I love the other dogs and the foster home and really enjoy playing with any that will return the fun… from Greta Gremlin a 20# boston terrier also needing a home, to the 90# pit mix that cant keep up with me zooming under his body 😂. I love car rides, cats kind of intimidate me so I respect them, kids are great, men and women are all good, anybody who wants to play with me and tell me how gosh darn cute I am! If I’m getting scolded for doing something I shouldn’t have been, I flop on my back and move my paws up and down as if praying for mercy. It tends to work.😂 I don’t like being crated and I am good when I am left out. I will burst out the door and run down the street so that you have to chase me, so I am now required to have a fenced yard. It’s amazing how fast these short little legs can go! Foster mom has gotten me house trained, teaching me to back up at the doorway, and takes me on a daily 1 mile pack walk with six other dogs. I love to check out small dark places like empty cabinets and washing machine machines. Turns out I am heartworm positive… I have started my antibiotics and at the end of May I will require the first of three injections to kill the Heartworms. Adopter will need to follow the vet’s treatment schedule to make sure I get rid of them so they do not end up killing me. I need to be kept calm during June and July when the biggest treatments will be given as that is protocol. I could be easily amused with a ton of enrichment toys! I am very treat motivated! Story
Please contact Ann Marie Burns (AnnMarieB@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.young boy ready to play! PETEY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Name:  Petey       Best Guess for Breed:   Shepherd and basset hound mix   Best Guess for Age: 9  months as of May 2026        SEX:   Male Estimated Weight:   41 lbs as of May 2026 - he's remained steady at this weight for a couple of months   Special Adoption Considerations: Petey is shy and is required to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog to show him the ropes. Because of his shy personality, we do not recommend him/her for a home with children under the age of 12.     Gets Along With:   Petey loves other dogs and is currently living with both a dog and cat in his foster home. We are happy to share integration techniques with adopters!    Currently Living at:   DC area foster home   Check out this video of Petey: https://youtube.com/shorts/0Du1eH_j_kM.   Watch this video of Petey on a play date!   Petey is Looking For:   Hi there, I’m Petey! My mama, Prim, has already found her forever home, and now I’m just waiting for mine.   Big introductions aren’t really my thing, but give me a little time and patience, and I’ll start to show you my sweet, gentle side. Once I feel safe, I’m all about quiet cuddles, soft tail wags, and being your loyal little shadow.   Want to win me over quickly? Other dogs are my favorite. I light up around them and would love a confident dog buddy to help show me the ropes and boost my confidence. Think of me as the perfect sidekick-in-training!   I’m still learning about the world, but I’ve got a great foundation and a big heart. With a kind, understanding family, I’ll keep growing into the best boy I can be.   If you believe the shy ones are the most special (and we really are!), I might just be your perfect match. What My Foster Says About Me:  Petey is a sweet boy who SHINES with other dogs around! He's got the cutest short legs to go with his average sized head. He's that perfect goofy dog that everyone looks at and goes 'huh I wonder who your parents were!' When meeting new people, Petey can be a little reserved at first, but he LOVES other dogs. He hangs back and let his dog buddies take the lead, but he's definitely watching and observing. There were four dogs over in our backyard and, at first, he was very cautious of the two extra humans that came with them, but by the end he was taking treats from both of them! When two of the dogs were sitting begging for treats, he came over near my friend to beg for a treat too!! Petey had the best time playing with our dog and after running around the yard a few times together he collapsed in the dirt as if he was saying 'oh dang my legs are so much shorter than yours!'   He currently lives with his foster dog brother, and the two of them are morning wrestle-mania champions with bonus zoomies included when you are lucky enough to see how cute he zooms. He’s also sharing his foster home with my cat and is learning that cats are not tiny referees, just chill roommates. I'm pretty sure he thinks having a cat around makes him extra sophisticated.   He’s also a smart boy! Petey somehow always knows when food is being prepared and will happily supervise kitchen activities. He’s doing great with potty training and is eager to keep learning. Bonus: he’s recently discovered the joy of fetch and is picking up the “retrieve” part like a pro!    He does well in the crate and feels very safe in there! He may be nervous at first, but he just needs patience, confidence building, another pup pal to show him he's safe, and LOTS of bribery (non-negotiable he says). He's just waiting for the perfect family who will let him move at his own pace and give him the space he needs to feel safe fall in love. Once he settles in he is a top-tier snuggler and lives for butt scratches. Give him a cozy spot next to you and he’s in heaven.  If you’re looking for a sweet, tender-hearted boy with the cutest short legs around, and you’re happy to give him the time he needs to blossom into the snuggle bug we know and love, Petey might just be your perfect match.  Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.   TO ADOPT:       The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter.    If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Story
You can't get more perfect than Mac! This 25 lb 2-year-old beagle mix checks all the boxes: he is crate trained, potty trained, good with dogs, kids, and even cats! He is always happy and eager to please his humans. It is pretty impossible to take a picture of him without his tail being a blur, because it's constantly wagging! He is pure joy and love. He walks well on the leash, And he's always up for a stroll in the neighborhood, a hike on the trail, or a game of fetch or tug in the yard. Having a quieter day? Worry not. Mac will curl up next to you for a good snuggle on those lazy rainy Sunday mornings. We know what you're thinking. Oh, he's a beagle mix, he must bark a lot. Sorry to burst your bubble! Mac is not much of a barker. Even when his next door neighbor barks at him each time he steps foot outside, Mac marches on unbothered and with a smile on his face. You've got to admit, Mac is a pretty rare find! Even as he's going through heartworm treatment he's handling things pretty well and maintains a positive attitude! If you live in DC/MD/NoVa and are looking for a portable sized best friend for life whose only goal in life is to bring you as much happiness as he possibly can, consider Mac!! Start the process by filling out an application for him below. https://forms.gle/rY8pBSk6hTMWVzZcA **Mac is currently heartworm positive and undergoing heartworm treatment, which is paid for in full by FCAR**
