Story
Meet Pearl Jam AKA P.J.! P.J. was rescued from a hoarding situation by another rescue and we offered to help him find a home. He has been waiting for a FURever home since 10/2023 for some crazy reason. P.J. is your typical happy go lucky, sweet Beagle/Bassett mix boy! He is friendly with all people and MOST other dogs (as long as they don’t try to eat his food). He is around 2-3 years old and weighs 37 pounds. He is a cute (chunky)“low rider”! He is neutered, current on all shots, microchipped, heartworm tested negative, and current on heartworm preventative. He is crate trained, but does need outside to potty regularly until he settles in. Pearl Jam either needs to have a secure fenced in yard to play/potty in (not to live in) OR someone willing to walk him several times a day. He seems like the type that would be fine with or without another dog. He loves being near his people and will let you know when he’s done being alone too! lol Best in a home without cats, as he occasionally will chase. The adoption fee is $150 to an approved and loving home. All vet records will be given to the adopter at the time of adoption. To apply to adopt go to our website www.fureverfurkids.com *We do home checks for each pet before approving an adoption.* The application is to be completed prior to meeting the pet(s) you are interested in adopting. If they are still on the page, they are still more than likely still available. We do keep our website and Petfinder updated regularly. Once a pet is adopted from our rescue, they MUST be returned to us, if you cannot keep them. If you plan on not keeping them their whole lives, please do not apply. Thank you for looking at our rescues in need of amazing homes!

Story
Meet O'Malley! This 6 year old gentleman is mellow and easygoing. Happiness pours out of him. You can't help but see it in his eyes, especially when he is playing or getting belly rubs. Tennis balls are his favorite toy but we are sure he would love to be introduced to new toys or balls. Be prepared for kisses because O'Malley is a lover! His house manners are great too! He never chews things up, is house-trained, and dog friendly! O'Malley is also loving and loyal. His ideal home would be with someone who will spend lots of time with him. He would be a good hiking or camping buddy. If O'Malley sounds like a good fit, please submit an application at WetNosesAnimalRescue.org.

Story
Lexie is a tricolored female Beagle mix that grew up in a tough part of town. Besides the elderly man that took her under his wing, the other neighborhood residents were not very kind to her. Lacking resources to properly care for them and fearing for their safety, he reached out to us for help. Fortunately, we were able to bring her into our rescue. At first, Lexie was understandably wary of volunteers. It has been a journey gaining her trust. With patience and love, our volunteers showed her not all people were bad and soon won her over. She has really blossomed during her time with us. Lexie was born in 2019 and weighs 20 pounds. She is a good fit for an adult or family with teenage children that are home most of the day. She takes comfort in knowing you are near. Lexie prefers a quiet calm home where she can putter around and relax with the family. Visitors should be few as she is wary of strangers. She doesn’t expect you to fuss over her but does enjoy a soft pat on the head. Lexie enjoys when you talk to her as you do things around the house. She does well on a set schedule and a routine gives her a sense of security. Another calm confident dog in the home would be a good companion for her. Outdoor rest breaks are limited at the shelter, so she may need more work to be fully housebroken. A home with a fenced-in backyard is a must. Lexie prefers exploring and running outdoors over going on walks. On sunny days, Lexie likes to sprawl out in the grass and catch a few rays. Shy sweet Lexie is searching for a family that will give her a wonderful life. We hope that will be with you!To adopt this pet, please go to hsnwga.org, 'Adoption' then 'Application for Adoption', to complete an online application to be preapproved. Story
PLEASE HELP! I've been volunteering at the Humane Society of NWGA. The shelter is full so you can imagine the chaos. But, in all the mayhem there is Cubby. He is a sweet and gentle Beagle/Lab mix who has been in the shelter for over 2 years! I couldn't understand why he was being overlooked so Ron and I decided to take him to our home for a few nights to figure him out. We have an unfinished backyard with no grass, no fence and travel quite a bit so adopting Cubby isn't possible for us but WHY OH WHY is he still there! All I knew about Cubby before his visit was that his previous owner had died, that he was quiet in an insanely loud shelter, he keeps his kennel clean between potty breaks, he is gentle but seems sad. After two days in our home I have learned who Cubby really is! Cubby is gentle and loves to cuddle! Whether it's exploring, walking, or "chilling and grilling", Cubby loves to be outside! Once the excitement calms down, Cubby walks well on a leash! Cubby is youthfully playful, but mature enough to quickly settle down for a nap! Cubby is a people lover and pleaser and takes your lead on all things! Cubby is potty trained, comes when he's called, knows the "sit" command, and sleeps peacefully all night! Cubby isn't afraid of storms and was calm when we had thunder roll in. Cubby is quiet but speaks volumes with his eyes! Cubby loves treats, squeaky toys and soft chews but isn't a fan of the Nylon Bones. Cubby is curious about other dogs and with proper introduction would do well with others. I can't say if Cubby would be compatible with cats since we don't have one but based on how he perked up at the site of a squirrel...maybe not? Cubby loves everyone but seems to really like the fellas, maybe because Cubby's previous owner was a man. Cubby's biggest challenge? Our hardwood floors scare him! We laid some rugs and towels down and he walked happily on them. And, in just two days Cubby has stepped onto the bare floor to get to his bowls and is very curious to explore. I know he could conquer this minor fear with loving guidance and patience within days! His estimated age is +/- 8 years but he is very healthy and full of life and acts like a 4 year old.....youthfully playful yet maturely calm! Cubby is a beautiful boy inside and out. Today, Cubby will go back to the shelter and it breaks my heart that he may be confused. But I will see him twice weekly while he continues to wait for his forever person. I am BEGGING my friends to share this post or even consider Cubby to join your family! All Cubby needs is a fenced yard, a soft bed, clean water and two square meals a day. In return you will get a loving, loyal, lifelong friend. Cubby is an absolute gem. To submit an adoption application for Cubby, volunteer, or donate to his care follow this link: https://hsnwga.org/Let's get this boy adopted friends!!
