Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Winnie, aka Winnie Bear, is an approx. 7yo possible Basset Hound/Beagle mix. This sweet girl came to our rescue as an owner surrender to a shelter, depressed, severely obese at 46 lbs., could barely walk and her skin was a mess. Now, after weeks of proper food, exercise including hydrotherapy, she not only walks but also runs. And she is on no pain meds. She is down to 36 1/2 lbs. Her skin and fur are back to normal and she’s now a happy girl. She loves following her people around the house, and can’t wait for belly rubs, but she especially enjoys basking in the sun or chilling in the shade, taking in all the smells, so for that reason we are requiring a fenced-in shady yard for her. She is not a digger. Winnie is currently in a home with small and larger dogs, as well as a cat and gets along great with all. She would also do well as the queen of her castle getting all the attention. She walks well on leash with short walks in the coolest part of the day with her short stubby legs, but be prepared for stops to smell along the way. Her favorite toy is a Benebone or an antler, and she will also play with squeaky toys and rope toys; but plushies get destroyed in no time. She loves raw veggie snacks like zucchini, yellow squash, carrots and cooked green beans - but her favorite is watermelon. She rides perfectly in a car and does well at bath time. Winnie is VERY treat motivated, knows “sit” command, is house trained, is not destructive, and sleeps in her bed beside her foster parents throughout the night. Her perfect forever home will be one where her people have hound experience and continue to help her reach her weight loss goal - this is a must. She does need someone who is able to lift her since her short legs can't get her in and out of the car on her own. Winnie would not do well in a home with small children, because of her assertiveness for food and treats, she would grab a cookie or other food item from the child's hand and not realize that the hand is not the cookie. She can only be given treats with an open palm. But, she is also adept at catching treats tossed to her. She requires an inexpensive thyroid pill once a day, as well as a daily Glucosamine Chondroitin supplement. Winnie is ready for her forever family, could that be you? If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and believe you are the perfect forever family for Winnie, please complete an app and tell us more about you. July 29, 2024, 6:08 pm

Story
Meet Cliff, the little survivor! Cliff was on death's door when the stars aligned and he ended up at exactly the right place at exactly the right time: off a rural interstate in the path of an avid animal rescue volunteer on a road trip. When his now-foster mama spotted him, he was clinging to life, his ribs protruding from his tiny, battered body. His emotional wounds were as evident as the physical ones - he was so afraid and mistrusting of people that only the overwhelming temptation of food (a peanut butter Clif bar) convinced him to come to the safety of her arms. Not thinking twice, she scooped his sick, injured, emaciated, trembling little body into her car and got him to a vet. Unchipped with no one searching for him, he was accepted into rescue to begin his journey towards recovery... and several months later... LOOK AT HIM NOW!  Cliff is now healed physically & emotionally, fully vetted, neutered, microchipped, heart worm negative, fecal clear, and very well socialized with friends of all shapes and sizes (humans, dogs, livestock - you name it!). While it's evident Cliff was never a beloved member of a family, Cliff is making great strides in training, so he would benefit from a consistent schedule and an adopter committed to continue working with him on his obedience. He is mostly potty, crate, leash, and off-leash trained, and has fully mastered the game of fetch!  Estimated to be only 1 year old, Cliff has a full life ahead of him to bury his past trauma under layers and layers of adventure and fun! Cliff's ideal adopter is active and outdoorsy with plenty of time to play and a heart big enough to continue showing him that people are kind. Are you that person? If so, apply today and ring in the new year with a best friend at your side. January 22, 2024, 12:06 am

Her ideal home would be active and provide lots of opportunities for play, some training sessions, and mental stimulation. Fa Leasha is smart and eager to learn, making her a fast study in obedience. She might also excel in activities like agility and K9 Nose work. If you're looking for a fun-loving and intelligent companion who's ready for adventure, Fa Leasha could be the perfect match for you! Contact The London Sanctuary to arrange a meet-and-greet with Fa Leasha and give her the loving forever home she deserves. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 28, 2024, 2:23 pm
