Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Female basset hound mixBella’s owner, who has provided good care for her, needs to surrender Bella because of her increasing work responsibilities. Bella is a 49-pound spayed female, approximately 6+ years old and is a basset mixed with some other breed. She is up to date on all her vetting, house trained, microchipped,  and is in good health. Bella is shy and fearful of strangers, at first, but after warming  up, she loves attention and affection. She is hesitant around other dogs, slowly becoming comfortable and might play a little, but otherwise keeps to herself. Bella pulls when on leash and barks and lunges at other dogs when on the leash with her owner. She is best with dogs of similar size or larger and has never had issues with other dogs when attending day care. She has no experience with cats nor much experience with children. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 1, 2024, 11:36 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Otis is a jolly 11-year-old fellow, a big, beautiful, Basset boy. He is most happy when he has his dog friends and his people next to him. For his age, he is an active, healthy, curious boy who loves to play with other dogs, but mostly loves to be within sight of his human family. Otis has a strong Basset voice which we typically don't hear, but will ring loud and true when he misses the people in his life. Even when Otis is lonely he is not destructive, and we do come home to a quiet house - so we can't tell you how long his mournful sounds last. Otis is a gentleman in our home. He has had some house training regression with all that he has been through. He sleeps on a dog bed near the bed, or in an open crate in our bedroom. Being a true hound, food is an important part of his life. He has an active nose and is not beyond following it to the kitchen counter.Otis would be happiest in a home where his alone time is very limited. He would love a house with a yard, and a canine companion.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 1, 2024, 11:36 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.  This is Olive's second time as a GGBR dog, through no fault of her own. The first time was in 2018, after her first owner passed away. She and her longtime companion, a senior basset named Sebastian, were subsequently adopted by their GGBR foster home. After Sebastian passed away, Olive continued to live with her adopter, until the woman's death, a few years later. At that point, Olive went to live with her adopter's sister. Recently, the health of her current owner has caused Olive to return to GGBR to find a new home. Olive is a very timid and nervous dog, who is particularly fearful of men. She is good with women, kids and dog-savvy cats. She has chronic allergies for which she has seen a dermatologist and she takes medication and eats a special diet. Olive has recently been diagnosed with a heart murmur, which requires no medication or special treatment at this time, but which should be checked periodically and should be mentioned to her veterinarian, if she ever needs to be anesthetized. Olive does not take well to being left alone and will cry and howl. Her anxiety also sometimes causes her to have accidents in the house. Olive readily uses a doggie door. She is a playful, active little gal who gets along with other dogs and enjoys her walks. It is unknown whether having a doggie companion in her next home might help with Olive's separation anxiety, because we have not seen her in the same home, both with and without another dog. Her foster home has several dogs, and Olive does well with them.At only 7 years old, poor Olive has already outlived two owners and one doggie companion! No one can blame her for being insecure! If you have an all female home with the patience to help Olive with her anxiety, are home a lot, can keep up with Olive's allergies and medications, and have a doggie door, you might have the perfect home for this lovely sweet dog. A doggie companion for Olive is not required, but it could be a plus!  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 1, 2024, 11:36 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Nellie is an approximately 6 year old female tricolor basset hound who spent much of her life with an owner who had many dogs. She settled easily into her foster home and gets along well with the other basset in the home. She loves the attention of her foster parents and is a 'snuggler.' Nellie has a sweet disposition and may do well in a home with older children. She is playful for her age and very cooperative with being bathed and having her ears cleaned. She is housetrained and sleeps at night on the couch, or in a dog bed. She would happily sleep on the bed with her humans, but, for reasons of safety, her foster family prefers that Nellie not jump up and down off the bed.Nellie does like to show her excitement and affection by jumping on people, and she is long and strong, which might make her not particularly suited to a home with small children, or the elderly. Older children, or adults who are steady on their feet would be better matches for her. She is an accomplished counter surfer, too. So far, Nellie does not seem to bark very much.Nellie's home should have a secure yard, or fenced patio. She is playful and enjoys the companionship of another dog, but could also be happy as a spoiled only dog with an owner who is home a lot.Health-wise, Nellie has recently been spayed and had her teeth cleaned with a few extractions. She has 'cherry eye' in her right eye, but it doesn't seem to bother her, so removing the cherry eye was not a high priority procedure. It's something that may be considered at a later date.Nellie is a sweet dog, who would fit into almost any home. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 1, 2024, 11:36 pm

His joint buckles as he walks but that doens't slow him down in anyway. He's able to walk, run, and go up/down the stairs just fine! He walks well on leash. Loves to eat and he does well with other dogs and loves people. SF Bay Area adoption only.
