Story
MEET LEO! Leo is a 3-year-old Chihuahua mix, likely part Basenji, in need of a forever home. He's a bit bigger boy, weighing about 20-25 lbs. He's currently in a foster home with other dogs. Leo was rescued from a crowded California shelter, and quickly adjusted to a better life! He is a bit shy at first, but warms up quickly. He's actually afraid of kids, so would do best in an adult-only home. Leo would love to find a new home soon. Please email for an application.

Story
He is a lovey and safe with kiddos. He's still a bit jumpy, but that's when he's excited. When he is regularly walked, he's not as energetic. He love to eat and is very quick and sneaky. He's not fixed yet. I was planning on it, but my health has taken up a lot of my time. He loves the outdoors, but not so much when it super cold and rainy. He can handle the cold to a certain extent though. He doesn't do a lot of chewing up things, but if you leave it long enough it's free game for him. Contact Hananh Pet Hos[pital 503.300.6458

Story
Meet Mary Ann and Ginger, an adorable bonded pair of medium-sized rescue dogs who are searching for their forever home. These super cute girls have spent their entire lives on their own until they were recently rescued. Despite their rough beginnings, Mary Ann and Ginger are incredibly sweet and are now learning to enjoy the comforts of a loving home. Both Mary Ann and Ginger get along wonderfully with other dogs, though they haven't had the chance to meet any cats yet. They need a patient adopter who will give them the time and space they need to adjust to their new surroundings and discover the joys of being cherished pets. Ginger, who bravely underwent heartworm treatment, is now healthy and heartworm negative. Both dogs are fully vetted, spayed, microchipped, and on preventatives. They even tolerate baths and absolutely love being petted. Currently, Mary Ann and Ginger are being fostered in Seguin, TX, where they are receiving the care and love they deserve. If you have a kind heart and a gentle hand, these two sweethearts will surely reward you with endless affection and loyalty. Adopt Mary Ann and Ginger and give them the loving home they've always dreamed of.

Toby loves to be highly active though he can also relax with his family. He loves his K9 buddies and we feel he'd be happiest in a home with another active dog/ dogs. He's still a young dog and needs love and guidance from his humans whom he wants to please. Toby would probably love to be with older children and have a big secure backyard where he can romp and play with with his family and k9 sibling/ siblings. He is fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. He can travel anywhere in the US and Canada. ##1501938##

Meet Leo: The Gentle Basenji Terrier Mix Introduction Meet Leo, a sensitive and observant male Basenji Terrier mix born on November 2, 2022. With his gentle nature and soulful eyes, Leo is looking for a compassionate family who will provide the understanding and patience he needs to thrive. Despite a challenging past, Leo is slowly learning to trust and is eager to find a forever home where he can feel safe and loved. Leo's Personality Leo is a remarkable blend of the Basenji's diligence and the Terrier's alertness. His unique personality makes him a special companion for those who appreciate a thoughtful and gentle dog. Here are some key traits that define Leo: Alert and Cautious: Leo is always aware of his surroundings and approaches new situations with a bit of apprehension. This quality makes him an excellent watchdog, though his past experiences may have contributed to his initial shyness. Calm and Relaxed When Safe: Leo's true nature shines when he feels secure. In a nurturing environment, he is calm, relaxed, and exudes happiness, making him a comforting presence in any home. Shy but Warming Up: Initially shy, Leo is starting to feel more comfortable around people. With time and gentle interactions, he is beginning to open up and show his affectionate side. Fears and Training Needs: Leo has a particular fear of walking canes and requires a gentle approach in training. Building confidence and trust has been a focus, and he is gradually accepting body handling with positive reinforcement. Basenji Terrier Mix Breed Overview The Basenji Terrier mix combines the unique qualities of both breeds, resulting in a dog that is intelligent, alert, and loyal: Size: Small to medium, typically weighing between 20 to 30 pounds Lifespan: 12 to 14 years Coat: Short and low-maintenance, Basenjis are known for being "barkless" dogs, though they can vocalize in other ways Temperament: Independent, intelligent, and often reserved, they are known for their cleanliness and curiosity What to Expect When Adopting Leo Adopting a rescue dog like Leo can be a deeply rewarding experience. Here are some considerations for prospective families: Patience and Understanding : Leo may need time to adjust to his new surroundings. Patience and understanding are crucial as he learns to trust and feel secure in his new home. Gentle Training : A gentle approach to training is essential for Leo. Positive reinforcement techniques will help him build confidence and learn basic commands. Building Confidence : Encouraging Leo with loving interactions and gradual exposure to new experiences will help him become a well-adjusted and confident dog. Creating a Safe Haven : A calm and secure environment is vital for Leo’s well-being. Provide him with a quiet space where he can retreat and feel safe. Owner Responsibilities Bringing Leo into your home is a commitment filled with mutual benefits. Here are some responsibilities to consider: Safe Environment: Create a safe and comfortable space for Leo, free from hazards and with cozy spots for him to relax. Regular Veterinary Care: Keep up with Leo's vaccinations, check-ups, and any necessary medical treatments. Balanced Diet: Provide a nutritious diet suited to Leo's size and activity level, alongside fresh water at all times. Grooming Needs: Although his coat requires minimal grooming, regular brushing will keep it healthy and shiny. Love and Attention: Spend quality time with Leo, offering the love and attention he craves. He will return your care with loyalty and affection.
