Story
** Current Location: in a foster home in South Korea ** • Rescue Story : Meet Beckma👋 a lovable, gentle boy! Beckma's journey started in South Korea, where he was found on the streets at just two months old in November 2021. He and his brother ended up in a high-risk city shelter, but thankfully, they were rescued just in time. While his brother has since found his forever home, Beckma spent his early years in a private shelter with many other dogs. In December 2024, he finally moved into a foster home—and now, he’s patiently waiting for a family of his own! • Personality: Affectionate, Gentle, Calm Beckma is as sweet as they come! He absolutely loves pets and cuddles and has a calm, laid-back nature. Most of the time, he’s happy just relaxing at home, but he does get bursts of playful energy, especially when toys or a ball are involved. He can be a little cautious with new things but warms up quickly. • Affinity with -Cats: Curious when he sees them on walks. -Dogs: Generally good around other dogs, but he prefers smaller and calmer ones. -Adults/Kids: Great with adults! He might need a little extra time to warm up to men. / Okay around kids on walks. • Shedding: 5-7 (1-10 scale) • Food Allergies: None! He doesn’t overeat. • Walking Manners: Very gentle on a leash with no pulling. He used to stop when scared but has become more confident and enjoys exploring. • Housetrained: Fully housebroken - he does all his business outside. • Bath/Brushing: Tolerates baths and enjoys brushing! • Car rides: Experiences mild carsickness but is improving. • Separation Anxiety: None! He's perfectly fine being left alone. • Bark or Howl: Occasionally barks at unfamiliar things at first but quiets down once he gets used to them. • Likes & Dislikes: He loves squeaky toys and walks! / Not a fan of crowded dog areas.

Story
❗Current location: in a private shelter in South Korea - you can have a meet-and-greet via video calls❗ • Rescue Story : There was a stray dog that wandered around the private shelter in South Korea for years. One day, she gave birth to a litter of several puppies, and sadly she lost most of her babies during labor as well as her own life. Milo was the only puppy who lived then and became a testament to the hope that can be found in an awful situation. He has been taken care of at the shelter since, looking for a loving forever home where he can grow and thrive. • Personality: Friendly, Active, Playful Milo is such a lovable pup who likes to play with people and doggos! He would be a great fit in a family that enjoys outdoor activities! • Affinity - With Cats: Not tested - With Dogs: Gets along with other dogs except for aggressive ones. - With Adults/Kids: Super sweet around people including men / not tested for kids • Shedding: 5-7 • Food Allergies: No allergies found so far • Walking Manner: In training. • Housetrained: He would use the bathroom outdoors if adopted. • Bath/Brushing: Tolerates both. • Separation Anxiety: None. • Bark or Howl: He doesn't bark unless he is left in a confined space. • Carsickness: Not experienced • Likes & Dislikes: He loves toys, treats, and people! / Not a fan of aggressive dogs.

Story
Miles is a rescue, originally adopted by my daughter. She moved into a building that didn't allow dogs, and I'd grown attached to him so rather than send him back to the shelter I took him. He is very friendly and energetic. He was a godsend during the pandemic; we'd often take 3am walks. He is very affectionate and loves attention.

Toby loves to be highly active though he can also relax with his family. He loves his K9 buddies and we feel he'd be happiest in a home with another active dog/ dogs. He's still a young dog and needs love and guidance from his humans whom he wants to please. Toby would probably love to be with older children and have a big secure backyard where he can romp and play with with his family and k9 sibling/ siblings. He is fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. He can travel anywhere in the US and Canada. ##1501938##

Story
Bert and Ernie are an inseparable pair of best friends who do everything together. Whether they’re snuggling up for a nap or enjoying a walk side by side, these two share an unbreakable bond. When Ernie feels uncertain or scared, Bert is right there to guide him and offer comfort. Bert, ever the social butterfly, adores belly rubs and being the center of attention. Meanwhile, Ernie prefers to stay a little more in the background, quietly observing and staying involved without feeling overwhelmed. This duo is searching for a calm, loving home where they can settle in and thrive. Their ideal family will offer the patience and understanding they need as they adjust to their new surroundings. Bert is working towards reaching a healthy weight so he can get back to running and playing like he used to, while Ernie would love a peaceful environment where he can gain confidence and trust, knowing that love always comes around for a second chance. Are you viewing my information on a third party site like Petfinder.com? Story
🐾 Adoption Notice 🐾 Meet Kenny, a sweet and lovable Shiba Inu looking for his forever home! Kenny is 4.5 years old, brought to our home from a farm in Pennsylvania in 2020. He enjoys going for walks, hiking in nature, and playing with his favorite balls. Max is full of energy at times and requires an owner who can devote time to his exercise and care needs. As a Shiba, Kenny can be a bit anxious/territorial at times and may bark when he's scared or nervous, but don't let that fool you – he's a big sweetheart at heart! Kenny is seeking an understanding and patient owner who can provide a supportive and patient environment. Knows basic commands such as sit, down, and paw. Kenny is a very chill dog that acts like a cat most of the time unless he is having a hyper high. He is very protective of his home and doesn’t really play with other dogs. He also has issues with treat guarding and harness touching and can get mouthy.

Story
STORM MUST HAVE A HOME WITH A PRIVATE FENCED-IN YARD OUTSIDE OF THE CITY. HE IS NOT A CANDIDATE FOR APARTMENTS.    Updated Bio as of 1/8, Storm is being returned.  Storm was rescued by SKD and brought to the USA with Key to Lion's Heart Rescue in May 2022. Only a few days after arriving, he got loose from his foster family and was on the lamb in Baltimore, MD for nearly 50 days! Fortunately, with the help of many SKD members, we trapped Storm safely and he came back to PA with me as a foster. He was adopted in December 2022 but is now losing his home due to ZERO fault of his own. While I want nothing more than to take him back into my home, my pack has grown since he was adopted and I'm in a very small apartment, so he cannot come here We are looking for a new home for Storm who understands fearful meat farm survivors and can meet him where he's at. Here are Storm's quick hits:  6 years old 40ish lbs Samoyed mix Friendly with all dogs, super nonconfrontational, used to let my chihuahuas go right into his crate and steal his food. He needs a home with at least one other friendly dog! Cat friendly! Lives with a cat currently and completely ignores it. Home with a secure fenced-in yard required Older teens only Due to his past experience on a meat farm and the aloofness of his breed, Storm is not a cuddly dog. He is not very comfortable on the leash and prefers to run directly into the yard to do his business. He very easily would follow the dog pack in and out of the yard to do his business, and he did not have any potty accidents inside the home. Inside, he prefers to pick a safe spot (crate with the door left open or dog bed) to quietly sit and observe the world around him. He doesn't make a peep inside and doesn't really ask for anything other than to be left alone, making him ridiculously low-maintenance! Trying to force him to "bond" with you (as the owners have done) is only going to lead him to mistrust you. Storm is happiest when he can coexist around people without those people trying to force an interaction on him.  Storm's long, beautiful white coat does mean he'll require maintenance grooming to ensure no mats form. Storm allowed has allowed to be brushed for short periods of time before, but as soon as his previous foster noticed him getting increasingly agitated or uncomfortable,  they would stop for the day and try again later.  Storm is most comfortable at home, so any necessary visits to the vet or groomer will require anxiety medication beforehand and a muzzle during the visit. Storm is not confrontational with people but if pushed into a corner and terrified, he will snap in fear, so sedation and muzzling are key for his annual vet visits. In-home vet visits would also be a great solution and keep his stress level down for the once a year necessary vetting.  Storm's owners advised they tried daily anxiety medication under the supervision of their vet, but that Storm would sniff out the meds in his food and refuse to eat them. We feel that with more effort put in, different methods of hiding the meds, and brainstorming with your vet, he could be successful on anti-anxiety meds, especially during the transition to a new home. We are 100% committed to finding the perfect home for this PERFECT dog. He is truly such an easy dog to have in the home, you barely even notice he's there until you look over and see him watching you from his safety dog bed! As most of us with fearful dogs know, the magic to gaining their trust is to simply LEAVE THEM ALONE. Let him coexist with you. Don't force an interaction that he's not ready for. Right before he was adopted, his previous foster noticed the first real milestone with Storm - he began play bowing and trying to initiate play with another one of their dogs in the yard. That was several months after he came to into foster!  Storm is available for adoption through Key to Lion's Heart Rescue in Damascus, MD.   -------- Previous Bio Age: 4 years Size: ~35 lbs Estimated breed: Jindo/Samoyed mix Storm needs a home with a securely fenced in yard outside of the city! FOSTERED IN PENNSYLVANIA   Update from my foster 10/6: Storm is such a sweet, shy, gentle boy. He is still very shut down and spends all his time inside his crate with the door open, just observing myself and his doggie foster siblings. He will run outside to do his business in the fenced-in yard and quickly run back inside and back to his crate, where he feels safe. He does not have a mean bone in his body, and even allows his chihuahua foster sister to enter his crate and eat his food right in front of him! After spending years of his life on a meat farm, he deserves all the time in the world to get comfortable around humans, and time is what we will give him. He is a definite flight risk, so he requires a home with a securely fenced in yard. He would feel safest in a home outside the city where it is a bit quieter and slower, which is much more his speed. He would do great with another dog in the home but could also do fine as the only pup in the home.  Storm was rescued from a Korean meat farm in 2018 when he was still just a baby by a local dog rescue advocate. He has been living at a rescue sanctuary and at a doggie daycare while he waited for his chance to fly to the US to find his forever home!  Storm is around 4 years old and 30 lbs. At best guess, he is some kind of Jindo/Samoyed mix, though we can never know for sure! He is a sweet and gentle dog but is timid and can be scared easily. He is slowly healing from the trauma he experienced on the meat farm and is looking for a patient person to help show him the world isn't so scary after all. He is great with all the dogs he has met at both the sanctuary and doggie boarding and is shy but sweet with people. He met a cat and after a few sniffs he lost interest in the cat. We have not seen him around kids but due to how shy he currently is, he would do best in a home with no kids or older teens only. Storm is a flight risk and requires a home with a securely fenced in yard. He would prefer a home outside the busy city. To adopt Storm, please apply on our website! www.keytolionsheart.org/adopt Please note we cannot guarantee the age or breed of any of our dogs. All of our dogs are working on their crate and house training.January 8, 2025, 2:09 pm
