Lucia This beautiful redhead has the cutest ears! Lucia is 1 year old weighing 28 lbs. She is gregarious and friendly. Lucia and Sofia were left abandoned together near the SPCA PV sanctuary. We’d love to adopt them together, but we can’t hold them back from finding a home that loves them if that’s not possible. While at the shelter we can’t confirm if she’s house trained, but it seems she once had a home, so we think its likely that she is. Lucia is medium energy and lovely with people. She is good with dogs at the shelter, though barks if there is a barrier, which is not uncommon in shelter environments. Lucia was tested with cats, and at first was avoidant and then gently curious. She even let the cats hold her leash. Lucia is healthy, spayed and vaccinated. She is currently at the SPCA PV sanctuary in Mexico, and will be able to fly to Vancouver, Calgary or Edmonton (possibly also Vancouver island) in fall when flights resume. I have a bit of curiosity about the world and actively engage it.While walking with a co-worker during her volunteer time in Ghana, my rescuer noticed a puppy on the sidewalk, me. I was tiny with a phone charging cord tangled tightly on my neck. She untangled me and waited for me to try walking, but they quickly realized, I could not move my legs.Once they finished their tasks, they came back again and saw I was still there. They had hoped my momma would show up, but she never did. So I was helpless and alone. Being the loving heart she is, she took me home and contacted a vet. The vet suspected I had been hit by a car. Probably while following my mom in search of food. I was treated over the next few days and began to recover. Soon, I was playing with another puppy in the compound and even befriended the neighbor’s kittens. You'll find I am the sweetest, most affectionate little soul, always snuggling up and full of love, especially toward kids who visit.Now, after six months, my rescuer's assignment is over and she needs to return to Canada. She plans to bring me along.Pet culture is quite different in Ghana—us dogs rely on finding food and water on the streets, even if we have a place to sleep at night. I have become so accustomed to regular meals, care, and endless snuggles, I wouldn’t know how to survive on my own in the streets.My rescuer loves me deeply and would adopt me in a heartbeat, but her work doesn’t allow for this ability. Hence, the search for a safe and loving forever home where I can continue to thrive.Hoping you enjoy activities I can join in on, as I have puppy energy to burn. While a bit stubborn at times, I think this is my puppyness learning how to interact, as I love being near you too. Mieu is ready to meet her forever family ❤️ She is currently being fostered in Nanaimo, BC. Mieu is a two year old Jindo mix who had a rough start at life. When she was rescued, she was suffering with skin issues, but now she is all healed and looks better than ever! This sweet girl is a social butterfly when it comes to other dogs, she loves to play and is very happy when she's surrounded by all her doggy friends! She has a low-medium energy level, quiet at home and more energetic when with other dogs. She can be shy with new people, but will approach when she's ready and will sniff and lick your hands. She becomes a very sweet and affectionate girl once she's comfortable. She likes to be pet by people she's knows, but doesn't like being touched by strangers. Mieu can probably be okay with children too as long as they can wait for her to approach first and are gentle. She has no aggression, but can be spooked by sudden movement or if she feels like someone will grab her. Mieu is leash trained, but will be very cautious/hesitant when she's in a new place. She is also crate trained and potty trained. She is not much of a barker, is not seen to have a prey drive, no destructive behaviours, and has no resource guarding. Mieu is not a flight risk once she is comfortable in her home. Lots of patience and love will go a long way with this sweet girl ❤️ Mieu was rescued from the Wanju meat farm last summer 💔

Miko is still on the search for his furever home 🇨🇦❤️ He's currently in Nanaimo, Vancouver Island, BC Miko is a neutered Jindo mix boy, about 2½ years old, and 28 kg He’s good and gentle with people and dogs and doesn’t chase cats. He tends to be scared of loud noises and sudden touches/movements. He's gentle and friendly enough with kids but wouldn't recommend a home with small kids due to his food-guarding issue. He will be good with an experienced adult-only household. Miko has a medium-to-high energy level and is leash/crate/house-trained. He's not a barker. He loves long walks/runs and gets along with other dogs well. Miko was found living outside with a short chain.

Juju's owner has passed away and she needs a new home💔 She is currently lovely being fostered in Vancouver, BC❤️ Juju is a Jindo mix spayed girl, about 9 years old and 13 kg Juju likes people, and will follow you well once she gets to know you. She will need time because she can feel awkward to meet strangers in unfamiliar environments. She has good walking manners, but is sometimes afraid of cats or birds. Juju is gentle and quiet, and hardly barks in vain. She plays well alone with her toy ball. As she doesn’t know how to hang out with other dog friends, she needs some time to get along with other dogs. No other dogs or cats in the home will be ideal. She really doesn’t like it if someone suddenly touches her tail, privates, paws or her side. She eats dog food well and is ok self-feeding. Her favourite snack is chicken breast, dried duck wings and dried pollack.
