Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Dover is an approximately 4 to 6 year old neutered male who currently weighs 43 lbs. He is up to date on all his shots and is on monthly heartworm prevention. He is a very smart guy and is learning a lot about being inside for what we believe to be the first time in his life. Hence he does need some teaching in the area of housebreaking. He is an extremely affectionate dog who loves to give kisses when being petted. He comes pretty well when called and walks ok on the leash but probably needs more training. He does know the word sit and loves treats as rewards. He does not like his kennel all that much but is willing to go in and behaves well when in it, although he does chew up his bedding. When not crated he does not seem to chew as much but I do keep toys and bones in the room for him to work on. Currently he and his good friend Dove stay either in their kennels or loose in the back room when not outside and are fairly well behaved in that space. So far he seems to have learned that he is not to lift his leg in that room nor on the deck on his way out to the yard. He hasn’t quite gotten the idea of keeping his leg in check when he has the full house to be in, but he’s working on it. He does seem to be a quick learner. Dover is a very happy fellow who loves a good run around the yard, an occasional good dig in the dirt and so far has been very good at respecting fences. He is use to being with his friend Dove and ideally we would love to keep them together. However Dove is not ready for adoption at this time and we feel Dover would benefit greatly by finding a new family to love him and give him a lot of good attention and training. Dover is a great dog and with time and patience he is going to make a wonderful companion for any household.
History:
Dover along with his companion Dove were found alongside the road. ABR was called and they are now in rescue.
Dover is in a foster home in Pittsboro, NC
