RIVER is our current senior dog. He is about 9 years old and 55 pounds. He is a really mellow guy that has been in his foster home for several months. He would love to find his forever home soon. He is currently living with 3 other dogs and 3 young children. He bonded immediately with his female handler. He took several months to bond and appreciate the male handler and the children in his foster home. He prefers the house to be quiet and calm. He does not require much exercise at all. His foster family used to take him for walks but he would have muscles spasms at random times. Since the walks have been eliminated from his routine his spasms have stopped. He enjoys hanging out in the yard on a sunny day. On cooler days he prefers to lounge around the house. He is house and crate trained. His foster family doesnât really use the crate anymore because he has never been destructive or bothered anyone in the house. RIVER was seen by a vet and it was determined that he has sclerosis which is a normal condition of an aging dog that makes his vision blurry. His foster family stopped bringing him to adoption events because they are too stressful for him. Since his vision is slightly compromised he barks when he is unsure of his surroundings. In his foster home he never barks unless someone rings the doorbell! He is quiet in the yard and during the night. He does not like to be jumped on by other dogs or engage in rough play. He currently lives with other dogs that are respectful of his space and he has never had an issue with them. This sweet boy was found as a stray and would love to live out his golden years surrounded by a loving family. He would do best in a calm atmosphere. RIVER does not attend adoption events but meet and greets can be arranged by appointment after a screening form has been submitted and reviewed.
